The Pub On King is like family to me. I came here during the winter break and nothing else was really open. I fell in love with the atmosphere and couldn't wait to come back to it. I came back here from the 23rd of February to the 2nd of March. I spent most of my time here. It's a great place to meet new people. I have made friendships here with both staff and patron that will last me a life time. The establishment is managed under Sam and Sid. When I was there last I felt so welcomed that I even walked a kitchen staff member home from work when he was afraid of the dark. Didn't even need to think about it. The food is amazing the drinks are incredible. The prices are unbelievable and affordable. I've been to almost all the bars and clubs from Kitchener- Waterloo to Cambridge to Guelph. This one is my favourite. Can't wait to come back. read more

My very first time ever going to The Pub on King, the security guards they have working there are nothing but ignorant. The restaurant was packed because only one waitress working and they were insanely understaffed even with the amount of people there. I ordered my food and went outside for less than 10 minutes to smoke and because it was raining I tried go back inside to get out of the rain. They locked the door and told me to wait outside with everyone else meanwhile I had food was waiting for me at my table getting cold. Meanwhile the rest of my table sat there eating while my food sat there and one of the people had to come and tell the security guard to open the door. The double whiskey and coca cola I ordered was beyond watered down. I ordered 3 of them and almost every time it was the exact same even though I got charged for a double every time. Beyond ridiculous for the price I had to pay for everything. My first experience was honestly garbage. The only good thing about the night was the service from the singular waitress that was running around trying to help and serve everyone. She was amazing and I really appreciate her help. I dont know her name but she had been working since open till almost close by herself before another waitress came on shift and tried taking over the tables the original waitress was already doing. read more

Cold and drafty. Had to sit with my coat on to stay warm. Service was very slow. The specials offered are all the same price. Under $6. Our table ordered quite an assortment of food items. We all shared and tasted each others food. The winners were the Shepard's pie and the fried cauliflower appetizers. These dishes came out piping hot and tasted great. The wings we ordered were dry out and room temperature. The fish and chips were very greasy and the roast beef and Yorkshire pudding was cold and burnt. The restaurant is very dated and dark. There are enough TV's to watch the game comfortably from any seat in the restaurant. There is plenty of parking out back. This place is great for a big group. The last time we came here is was so much fun and the food was so good. This time not so much. read more

While before I gave this place 5 stars, within the next couple months every time got worse that I came to eat or party. Most recently, I went with a few friends and waited at the front for about 20 minutes despite there being tables. Then got given a dirty table that no one cleaned the whole time. We were not given water or menus and all wait staff walked by and ignored us. After 45 minutes of waiting in total we decided to leave because of the horrible experience. I had very low expectations so perhaps that's why I am giving it a 4 star. It's cheap and I was full when I left. I can't complain I had the turkey club with salad my friend had the fetticini alfredo and we split deep fried pickles. I loved that everything on the menu was just 5.95 yet so many options. I walked away from Pub on King only having paid $5.95 + tax + tip for salmon, quinoa, veggies, topped with a delicious dill vinaigrette. (Four of my absolute favourite things AHHHH). Other favourites include the burgers, mac n cheese, fish n chips, turkey club, and sweet potato fries. The food was very good for its price. Do be warned though, my guess for why this place has survived so long is the money they make on drinks. They are more expensive on average, and they kind of make the experience for ppl who don't order drinks kind of suckish. I mean - our group of 10 ended up waiting 1 hour + for our food (which SUCKED). We even asked our waitress how long it would take and the food ended up coming in double the time she guessed. My advice - come in smaller groups because their service for large groups is absolutely abysmal (even though the place physically is great for large groups). Otherwise - the vibe of the Pub on King is still very nice and lively for the pub scene, so if you are willing to wait/purchase drinks (which come out a lot faster), this is the place to be. read more

Security told my boyfriend to his face as a "joke" he and friends weren't allowed in because of the diversity of the group when me (a white female) was allowed in twice outside of the group they knew I was a part of. Not happy, horrible security. read more

I love Pub on King. Price-wise, it can't be beat. Every menu item is $5.95. The food is good, but the portions are small, so I always get 2 menu items. During the day its a good place for a snack or lunch, and at night it turns into a popular party spot for university students. I believe they have a DJ on weekends, and people are often dancing. It can get loud, so don't expect to have meaningful conversation. Overall the atmosphere is great. I deducted a star because sometimes the waitresses are inexperienced. I've experienced huge delays on drinks even during the week when it's not so busy. I also have a suspicion that they water down their drinks. While I have no way of knowing this, I myself am a bartender and I know what a mixed drink is supposed to taste like. You can never taste the alcohol in the ones here, which is especially weird if you ordered a double shot :/ If they were doing this it would be illegal, but I guess they need to save money somewhere to make up for the cheap food. read more

Not a bad spot to go on a Saturday night. But let me tell you about my main man, Vinny. Not only does this guy rock a Batman toque (which is f***ing nails), but he is in fact the real MVP. While we were in line, two of my idiot buddies were standing in t-shirts, FREEZING (like I said, idiots), when Vinny comes over and offers each of them a coat. I've never been here for an actual meal, but this is one of my favourite places to go out with friends on the weekend. The vibe is so casual, and there's no dress code. The bouncers are always friendly and joke around with you. Drinks are priced as you'd expect for a pub. Tuesday nights are usually pretty live at Pub and there's a solid chance you'll run into at least 10 people you know. They have live music playing until about midnight and depending on the crowd people might actually get up and dance which is a lot of fun. Overall, this is a great place to go out and grab some casual drinks with friends or even a plate of nachos after a night out. read more

Condescending is an understatement. These entitled women earning minimum wage told me to wait for the bar for simple service. After politely asking for professional service I was arrogantly told to wait for one of two servers in charge of 200 people. Pub On King is where the infamous Fox & the Fiddle used to be located so I had a to check it out to see if it was able to fill in those shoes. Something that definitely would draw a lot of people, especially students is that it has $5.95 all day menu where every item on the menu is at the that price. At first this may blow your mind, but when you see the quantity and quality of the food, it's sort of self-explanatory. Wednesday nights they have a drink special for beers which is worth it. However, the food is just below par and personally there are way better pub grub spots in town, especially the place next door, Failte's. The wings weren't anything special and the deep fried pickles were mediocre. The Mac n' Cheese was too mushy and the burger we tried was below average (the meat overlooked, the presentation was sloppy). The food doesn't stand out in any way. In terms of service, they could improve that as well. Servers just seem like they don't wanna be bothered and they don't seem to know the menu that well. Apparently they've revived the old 'Fox Tuesday' so that's worth going to check out. Overall, I probably wouldn't go back there unless it's just to grab a cheap drink. read more

Went here with a group of 12 on a Sunday night around 6 PM. Place was pretty much empty so we had no trouble getting tables. Menu was what you'd expect for a place geared towards university students. Nothing special. Drink menu was also geared towards 19-year-old girls as far as the cocktails went. They do have about 20 beers on tap though. The prices were reasonable. I wasn't blown away by the food but if you're looking for something quick and cheap or somewhere to watch the game and hang out with a big group then this place works. read more

Four small pieces and some fries but what do you want for 6 bucks? I went to a 5.95 joint and got a 5.95 experience. Wait staff was friendly. There are a a wide group of ages hat come here. From college kids to seniors. Theater place gets loud and a bit rowdy around 1130pm when the college kids roll in.
