Josie was simply a highly professional and accommodating person. She truly understands what it means to make people feel special and was able to handle a few of our requests with ease! We stayed in a top floor suite with two awesome deck areas overlooking water street. The room was clean and well appointed, bedding was overly comfortable . There are no elevators , so be prepared to get some great exercise if your lucky enough that access the third floor. The property is very well maintained. Great location too. Very central access to waking Edgartown - and easy access to the many island highlights. Side note : Being a huge fan of JAWS, I was so delighted to determine this property was shooting location along Water street it was shown in the scene where Brody walked to the hardware store across from the bike store which now houses a great coffee shop. She makes you feel welcomed and at home, as if you're visiting a friend. Bravo to The Christopher for having such a wonderful person as their manager. The only caveat to booking at The Christopher is the very steep narrow staircase to the upper floors. A second handrail would be a good safety measure. These stairs would prohibit some from being able to access the upstairs rooms.

Constant trucks in and out - most backing in with their beeper on. We had ants in the bathroom, two rounds of toxic chemicals and they were still there. We were near the maids closet - tons of traffic and noise there. Floorboards squeaking, so anytime you went to the ant infested bathroom, you would wake the other person up. Staff was friendly and only reason it's not one star review.

Counter service was friendly. Cons: The bulk of the seating is basically one long table with one side against the wall. Love the idea of shared seating but it's awkward to sit down when you have to scootch behind other diners chairs. Feels very boxed in on that side. My biggest complaint, though, was the wait for the food. They do have a sign on the register asking for patience, but we waited almost 45 minutes for a couple of sandwiches and a Caesar salad. There were only a few other patrons there when we arrived so it wasn't slammed. I would definitely go back if they can fix the speed of orders coming out. If you want to hang out and not in a hurry, it's a nice vibe.

Our peanut butter chocolate cake included fabulously moist, rich chocolate cake layered with excellent chocolate buttercream and peanut butter... I guess I'd call it caramel? It added just the right amount of peanut butter flavor without overwhelming. Other flavors on offer: red velvet, strawberry shortcake, triple chocolate, almond raspberry, coconut, vanilla bean, carrot, triple lemon, funfetti, and cookies and cream. We endeavor to try them all! We've ordered birthday cakes from a number of other Nantucket bakeries over the years. Some of those other bakeries have a lot of nostalgia points for us. For deliciousness alone, however, PPX is far and away our favorite. (Progeny 2 says that if she ever gets married, it will be on a surfboard at Cisco Beach, with lots of doggies for guests -- and PPX will cater. :)

They also have the following amenities: -free kayaks on the bay side -complimentary car (only 1 and it books up fast) -sherry, port, and cheese every day at 4 pm -harbor tour, sconset tour, great point tour, and culinary experience -private beach on the Atlantic side (absolutely beautiful and quiet) -bikes -coffee, tea, pastries, and granola for breakfast The location is breathtaking and if you like nature and beach, this is definitely the spot you want to be on the island. The downside is that without a car, you're a little isolated as your only transportation options are bikes and the shuttle. The rooms are also on the small side. We had a room with 2 twins and it was well laid out, but the bathroom and sink area is small.

If you take an early boat over, we usually grab the 9:05 from Hyannis and that gives us plenty of time to walk through. Watch your step and footing. The roads are cobble stone and very hard, uneven and unforgiving. People tend to get a little pushy-shovey and the it's densely packed. Crafts, art, food stuff (honey, spices, etc.), and farm fresh vegetables grown on island when seasonable. It's great, but we've never bought any vegetables as we'd have to carry them all day. That said, it is still a fun time. Keep it local!

Dozens of people at the wedding came up to us and told us that the food was the best wedding food they had ever had. Shawn provided passed appetizers, a stationary appetizer table, and drinks in addition to the main meal, which we did buffet style. The main course included an incredible roasted vegetable lasagna, baked salmon with sorrel aioli, roasted broccolini with red onion, parsley, olive oil and tamari, a kale salad, a light brown rice with toasted pistachios currants, dill, chives and a vinaigrette. We bought our own wine and beer, which Shawn's crew poured for guests. Shawn is also much more affordable than many of the other Island caterers. We could not have asked for, or found, a more wonderful caterer.
