Pros: nice downtown location with seemingly a lot of Lily Pullitzer inventory
Cons: serious problems with acknowledging and helping customers, and specifically making visitors feel welcome!
When I went in, the woman working there was completely engrossed in a conversation with the one other woman in the store. I browsed around for a while letting them have their chat, but I did want help. After a while of seeing their conversation was not going to give me a natural pause to ask my question, I politely asked "Hi, excuse me, sorry to interrupt, but do you have this in other sizes?", holding up a dress. The salesperson did say "you're fine" in response to my asking, but she said "we don't have other sizes in the sale items" and continued talking to the other woman. I did need and want help from the salesperson but I wanted to be polite and let them finish their conversation...but it went on and on and on. Finally, I went up to the counter where they were standing and talking and I was standing there right in front of them, and they just kept on talking and ignoring me. Not a smile, not a glance in my direction. I was even holding up a couple items I wanted to ask about or try, but they continued to ignore me and chat as I stood there awkwardly. Finally, they finished their conversation as the one woman started to head toward the door, so I thought "well this was awkward but at least I can finally get some help to be able to get what I want to buy!" But THEN, even after their conversation had seemingly finally ended, the sales associate then turned to me standing in front of her, said something very brief, and then while I was still standing there in front of her, turned BACK around to face the woman at the door to ask her, "oh, do you want to see the book? Why don't you take a look and......" (went on from there). Holy moly. It was so rude to me. She clearly was completely engrossed in helping the woman she apparently knew, and was completely shafting the new customer.
Really disappointing. I thought the store looked cute from the outside and was definitely looking to buy some things for myself and my child.
After waiting around, trying to get my questions answered, but then being ignored for a while, and then having the woman trying to RESTART her conversation with the other customer while I was right in front of her and it was finally my turn to get some help, I realized it was futile and just put my items back on the rack and left.
I am a frequent visitor to Savannah and usually find the people in the stores, restaurants and other businesses to be welcoming, kind, hospitable and overall awesome! This really stood out to me as uncharacteristically INHOSPITABLE and unwelcoming. Eek. Definitely left with a much more negative feeling than I entered with !! read more
