It is with absolutely great pleasure to write this review for employee Linda Oden. Today, my Sister and I needed clarification of the cost to have the Obituary in the Press Enterprise. Mind you the family have been interacting with this Funeral Home and time was coming near. To ensure avoidance of the Obituary not being printed the process needed to be expedited. We walked in the front door and spoke with the reception. She immediately called someone on the phone. Few minutes later I heard a door open across the way and an Angel in disguise 'Linda' smiled and asked, " How can I help you?" I explained the loss of our family member and how the funeral home advised us the deadline to submit the Obituary to be published and cost. We needed confirmation. She had an abundance of Patience, Empathy, Sympathy, Personality, Professionalism. Straight and to the point with providing clarification of the policies at the Press Enterprise to avoid liabilities and prices. Linda had 'Exceptional' Customer Relations. She was truly 'Amazing .' I was so impressed until I asked her to go find her Supervisor because she needed to know how 'Awesome' her Attitude and Work Ethnics were. Linda's Supervisor Diane walked over and it was like looking in a mirror at the same Reflection. She too was ' Awesome' absorbed each and every compliment needed to give Linda her Kudos. Thank you once again Linda for being so compassionate during our family time of grief and relieving some heartache with publishing one 'Beautiful' Obituary. I noticed an annual charge to my credit card for digital access to the news paper that had almost doubled from last year. I called to cancel the subscription which I told it wouod be. (I never received a confirmation.) When I asked for a full refund, I was told since I had not cancelled the subscription before the renewal date (one day before my call to cancel), they could not refund the annual fee. I was never sent an email or letter notifying me of the pending automatic renewal, let alone that the fee would be going from $190 to $345. Also, no where on the app does it allow one to cancel the subscription. When I notified the lady there was a new law in California which ensures the ability for subscribers to cancel online services and be given notice before the automatic annual renew so a cancellation can be initiated and asked to speak to a supervisor, I was hung up on. I have been a subscriber for over 20 years from paper delivery to digital copies. This is no way to treat loyal customers and I will be following up with my credit card company. Many reviews have the same poor customer service experience with not being able to cancel a Press Enterprise subscription which is probably attributed to non-invested call centers and poor customer service managers. read more

We get the newspaper delivered and 5 mornings in a row the newspaper is thrown at my car and the alarm goes off, I have already called the newspaper once and its still happening the alarm goes off at 4:00 in the morning, sometimes later sometimes earlier, but I'm getting really pissed off. I want to stop the paper, but my husband is the one that reads it. The person who is delivers the paper better get reprimanded. read more

The big mistake we made was signing up for a 6 month Sunday paper for $12.95. #1 the paper is liberal and covers for the left . Its lost any credibility it had from the years when I read paper 30 years ago . #2 we asked them to stop the paper immediately after the 6 months. They sent another month worth to try to keep us . I subscribe to the electronic version of the newspaper. I copied a restaurant coupon from my screen. I presented the coupon to the restaurant employees and they rejected it because it was not cut from a paper newspaper. I explained the concept of an electronic version of the paper and that I could bring up the page with the coupon on my phone. Nope, they still refused to honor it. Your paper should put a disclaimer in the paper that electronic subscribers can not use any coupons from ads. Stupid Stupid Stupid. Sadly i have to agree with the majority of the reviews. I have had nothing but issues with the delivery of my paper. I have only had my subscription for 3 weeks and have had to contact customer service 4 times in regards to my paper not being delivered. Today was the final straw. Contacted customer service at 8 am in regards to my missing delivery and they stated they would "send me another one within 90 minutes." Another one? Excuse me, i never got one. So, they give you the written version of an eye roll. Gee, thanks. Now its 1:00 in the afternoon and still no paper. I called and cancelled my subscription. We have subscribed to the Sunday edition of Press-Enterprise for the past few years. Every year without fail, Press-Enterprise does not deliver on Sunday prior to thanksgiving and also prior to x-mas week. Today was the same problem. It did not deliver the Sunday paper. I called and informed PE and requested to deliver the newspaper. However, nothing happened. The Sunday paper prior to the two large shopping events holidays has many ads thus lots of paper and colored ink are being used. I do not write 1-star reviews very often. But my recent experience with the Press-Enterprise merits such a rating. Two days in a row I stood alone for over five minutes just inside the business entrance in an empty room, waiting to be greeted or at least to be recognized by the single staffer seated at a desk who just kept talking on the phone, and typing out an ad or story without even acknowledging my presence. It was as if I was in a crowded hospital ER. But I wasn't! And, while the reporter to whom I was finally forwarded was helpful and competent in preparing my mother's obituary, two days in a row she forgot to leave for me at the front desk the 10 free copies of the newspaper that I was supposed to receive the day the obituary was published. I eventually received the free copies, but I regard this as abysmal customer service. And, with a succession of continual 1-star reviews, I now wonder if this business even cares to improve. read more

We were customers of the PE for more than 30 years. The service we had was for the print edition and home delivery. We were on EZ pay which is the system for automatic monthly payment from our credit card. In January of last year (1-2017) our monthly charge was $38 (in round numbers). This month May of 2018 our monthly charge was $67 (in round numbers). Looking back for the last 17 months revealed continues increases in the cost for our service. We received no notification of these increases. This was irritating because we assumed there were no changes and we failed to monitor the actual charges until a friend talked about the cost of the home delivery service. When we reviewed the charges we were shocked to see it had climbed to over $820 per year. We also discovered that there is no "online" vehicle for checking on subscriber's account charges or for making changes. Researched revealed it would be much cheaper to just take the non-print online edition. To do this we were forced to call the number provided, wait through long minutes (approximately 15) to actually speak to a human. When we did it took another 10 minutes to accomplish the change from home delivery to online only and take our credit card off EZ pay. The representative we spoke to sounded unfamiliar with pretty much everything we asked about which was also a bit alarming and we are not confident any of our requests will be processed until time goes by and reveals the representative did, indeed, understand exactly what changes we wanted. It appears from research all print editions of newspapers are struggling. Our newspaper experience certainly supports that fact. The Press-Enterprise has become a mere skeleton of what it once was yet the cost to home delivery customers is rising at an astronomical rate. This makes me feel that customers are being forced into online subscriptions only. On a positive note, we had very few problems with our home delivery service. Only the occasional hiccup. read more

I have tried to unsubscribe on line - everything else they want you to do is easily done on line. In order to unsubscribe, however, I have to call a number. I've now been routed to their India service line and have been holding on line for over 11 minutes, while my rep seeks special tools from his supervisor. What a racket! I have never in my many years had such a terrible customer service situation. And worse, it was actually planned to be this bad to discourage me from cancelling. Since 1 star is the lowest, guess I have to go with that. The PE had been a decent paper, but we live in Temecula and rarely get any local news. Beaumont and Redlands have great coverage, however. 6 months ago they told me they hired someone for SW Riverside Co, but I've seen no change. And, like others have mentioned, the delivery is late and sometimes non-existent. They used to offer the TV guide, then made us pay for TV Weekly, which often isn't delivered with the paper. Once, we didn't receive it until Wednesday, when half the week was gone. Today may have been the worst. We left for church at 9:15 AM, with no paper, so we called before we left. Upon our return at 2:15, we found our paper--loose and scattered over 6 of our neighbors yards, some was soggy and falling apart from water in the gutter. I called the automated and oxymoronic Customer Service, and after dialing 1 multiple times, was told to call back on Monday. The newspaper itself has gone down hill considerably over the years. Silly articles like "there are new restrooms at such and such park" and then not covering a lot of more important news. Clearly, customer service is not a priority. We have had the paper for many years at our old address. However we sold our home and moved into a new build and ordered the paper again. Long story short. We were billed immediately for the full year, then the paper never came, no phone call why. We called in and said due to the new build home, they couldn't find a route. This company likes to RIP customers off. I ordered the paper on 5/12/19 through a local fundraising program for 8 weeks at $20. I have yet to receive a single delivery. I have gone back and forth with multiple Customer Service Reps and have been getting the run around. I have e-mailed upper management for assistance with getting this issued resolved. I was told by someone in management, I would start receiving my paper 6/21. Guess what? No paper delivered. Am a neighbor of a 90 yr old woman who uses a walker. I have had to get her paper because they either don't throw it over her fence(She has called MANY times about this) or they do and it's on ground cover so she can't get it. This company and their service is ridiculous!! I canceled my service in October of 2018 and they immediately stopped delivering the paper to my home. This part was good. It is what I asked for. HOWEVER, they continued to bill me EVERY month since then. Bad on me for not noticing this at first, but whe I did notice it last week, I called on 3/4 and spoke to one of their reps. The rep confirmed that I canceled service in October and also confirmed that I have been getting billed every month still. I stated that I wanted it resolved immediately and my money refunded. We had a rude awakening with this newspaper today. They called us to tell us that our credit card no longer worked and wanted us to give them a new card number. My wife looked up here last charge which was in November 2017 and it was for $83.00. So my wife responded by saying we just paid in November and should be good for six months. The lady then said no, that was only for two months. WHAT!! You mean to tell me you guys are charging us over $40 a month for a damn newspaper. No other newspaper charges near that much that we've seen. My wife said cancel immediately. The women then said she would have someone call us as when a person cancels, they'll get a much better price. Are you kidding me! This the way they run things. My wife ordered this news paper after I told her not to because of the poor delivery service we received last time. So, she thought she would order it again for only Sunday delivery. Well, as expected, we did not receive our first Sunday paper. She called and talked to a lady at Press phone number supplied on her invoice # 49994 and they said they would deliver it in approximately 70-90 minutes. As expected no newspaper Congratulations Press, you do not fail to disappoint. If we would call you to cancel once again we would but you are not open to receive calls. I really don't care. I don't depend on it for 'News". At one time I referred to it for the Classifieds but they are essentially now extinct. What I use it for is when I make bouquets for my son's gravesite & do the flower cuttings on the newspaper pages rather than on the bare kitchen counter top. We have been getting the Press Enterprise for years but their recent billing practices have driven me to look for other sources of news. It sreems that they were charging us for special editions without notifying us or billing us until all of a sudden we have a bill for almost 300 dollars. We payed 71 dollars a month for their paper for over a year. How is it possible that we owe 300 dollars for "Special Editions" that we knew nothing about? I actually liked the paper, I feel bad for the reporters, writers and editors. Its not their fault that the billing department has become crooked. For 30 years Iran out to the driveway to retrieve my newspaper about 6:30am to have with my morning coffee. All that changed 2 years ago. I never receive my daily newspaper before 10. I called daily for almost 2 years!! Managers called me back and told me that the situation with my newspaper is unacceptable...but nothing changed. My neighbors even started calling daily. Nothing changed. This paper is over a dollar a day now and they could not care less about their delivery service. I have learned to read my paper online now and when I find the newspaper in the drive later in the day I toss it in the recycle bin. STEER CLEAR OF THIS NEWSPAPER!! We had not received our Sunday paper for about 6 weeks back in Jan/Feb/March. I sent emails and they were basically ignored. I advised them to cancel the paper and issue a refund but instead of doing that they CHARGED ME for another year on 12/12, $102. 82! On 12/23 when I discovered this on my credit card statement I immediately called to complain and request a FULL refund. When I called today to find out where the refund was, I was told that it was issued on 12/30. In digging for more info I was finally advised that a)they did NOT provide a full refunded, the refunded $93 and some change and b) it was refunded via a check! Than to top it all off, on 12/23 when I called I advised that we had moved back in June and up until the day we moved we never received our Sunday paper. So what do they do, they mail the check to the old address!!! How incompetent can these people be?! It took them a week to issue a refund check that was NOT a full refund (because it had been 2 weeks, which I guarantee NO paper was ever delivered), why they didn't just credit the card they charged is anyone's guess. I am still waiting for a supervisor to review my complaint to provide a prorated refund from December 2018 through March 2019 and now I guess they need to add the additional $9 that they kept from the December 2019 charge. Unless you want to start 2020 with Press Enterprise STRESS, DO NOT do any business with this paper. There are too many other options that I would think would be much easier to work with. read more

Was charged 12.50 for a Thursday-Sunday weekly subscription on October 23rd 2018. It is now November 10th 2018 and i have yet to receive a paper. I signed up at a newer circle k by me at a booth out front. I was gifted 2 NFL hats for signing up... I just scored 2 hats for 12.50, but I have to cancel my card so they dont keep charging me for a paper they don't deliver. I think I might go over to PE in Riverside, apply for a job there as a delivery guy and make a few weeks of pay. =) In actuality, I'm going to sit on a throne of papers taking selfies with my new hats on, while giving PE the finger. read more

When I spoke with a representative, I got nothing but rude, indifferent behavior. Huge increase in monthly rates, now up to $39. per month, I was told that paper and print was more expensive. I had a lot of airline miles that were going to expire so I decided to use some of them to get my parents a free 8 week delivery of The Press Entreprises' Sunday paper. My parents told me they are still receiving the Sunday paper after 20 weeks!! That didn't seem right so I called The Press Enterprise and they said they had mailed me the "bill" and I have not paid! What? Apparently, they automatically subscribe you after the free 8 weeks and then hit you will the bill. You have to call them, and be on hold for 15-25 minutes, to cancel the subscription!! It is not Mags For Miles/ NewspaperRewards.com's fault. I have ordered other magazines and newspaper with airline miles with them and not had this "automatic subscription" issue. When the airline miles subscription has expired, they ASK you if you want to continue to receive it, they don't just keep sending the magazine and send you a bill.
