As soon as we pull into the parking lot, one starts barking excitedly and lunges toward the door when I take her out of the car. When we go through the entrance, they run over to the great folks that work there, tails wagging like crazy. It didn't use to be this way...One of my dogs (the lunger) had a bad experience with boarding elsewhere, and it took a few years before she stopped displaying extremely anxious behavior when left in other people's care, even in a new place. She's quirky and often misunderstood, but the folks at BF were patient and brought her back out of her shell. Now she can't get enough time there! We have been coming to BF Boxford for at least 5 years now, and it's wonderful knowing that we can go away and our beloved dogs will be in great hands. The people working there appear to really love animals, which, IMHO, is the most important quality to look for in a boarder. The grooming is awesome too!

Any time one of our dogs is ill, the office staff ensures we get an appointment ASAP. When our recent dog, Fiona, was extremely ill and in the ICU, both Dr. Bleck and Dr. Baigelman did a full review of all of her lab work/imaging and full ICU stay to help us come up with the best way to manage her care moving forward. I had some minor concerns about my previous vet, name and details withheld. That, and how close FF is, made me give them a try. That was several years ago, and I'm so glad I did! One of my cats needs to be shaved every few months - she gets serious clumps. She used to get put under anesthesia to have this done. Dr. Baigelman said he thought he could do it without putting her under. This cat is rather opinionated, so I was skeptical, but sure enough! The first time was the only time he took her in the back room. He does it right in front of me. It's incredible! And as others have said, the staff are fantastic also, every one of them. They all care. I haven't had any experience with Dr. Bleck, but other people I know say he's just as good with people and animals as Dr. Baigelman is. I know all of this should be a given at a vet's office, but it isn't. PS - the place is always sparkling clean. Again, that shouldn't be noteworthy. Almost every vet's office I've been to has been sparkling clean. Only almost all of them.

My boyfriend and I first contacted Fresh Trails Pet Sitting in February concerning a planned…read morevacation we're taking in May. We have two young rescue dogs, one of which was horribly abused and is thus very shy and afraid of people and takes a long time to warm up to anyone. We wanted to schedule several visits over the course of Feb-May to be sure our dogs would be comfortable with their caretaker while we were away. We met with the owner, and then with a caretaker, which seemed to go well. Then when we tried to schedule another visit, we got put off and put off multiple times over weeks with various excuses ranging from weather to injury and no callbacks, we always had to initiate communication. After several weeks of this treatment, we were informed by the owner that our dogs were too high maintenance and that Fresh Trails was not willing to work with us. Let me say, for the record, that I totally understand rescue dogs being difficult to work with, especially one who was as abused as our poor girl was. I do not fault Fresh Trails at all for declining to work with a dog with issues of that nature. Where I do find fault is with the incredibly unprofessional way we were treated, especially as Fresh Trails was well aware of our time constraints and our desire to give our girls plenty of time to get used to their caretaker. It should not have taken 2 months to come to the decision that our girls were too challenging, especially when several weeks had elapsed since the last visit.

Kim is an incredible pet sitter! We have a very old cat (20 years) who cannot really hear, which…read moremeans he doesn't come down to eat when the pet sitter arrives. Kim patiently looked through all his hiding spots (even finding him in an old favorite that he hasn't used in awhile!) to make sure he had the chance to eat. She also graciously took care of a truckload of packages that unfortunately arrived just as we left town. Our cats are always very clearly cared for by Kim- when we return they are relaxed and calm, not anxious or worried. I feel that pet sitting requires a very special person, and Kim is that person. We have had a lot of pet sitters in our 20+ years of having pets, and she is the best.

One star because you should never make a commitment that your backup person can't handle. Since we couldn't meet in person, she helped me remotely by phone. Not only is it obvious how much she cares for animals, she had a very good understanding of both emotional and physical illnesses in cats and was able to offer me effective advise regarding daily routines, diet, supplements, food/litter location etc. She also educated me on the importance of having my indoor-only cat wear a collar w/tag at all times. She brought awareness to me of the dangers our pets face if the unexpected happens - i.e. house fire, lost etc. I am so grateful for Shauna and highly recommend her!
