We originally had our first dog Casey start back in 2011. We loved the original daycare and we still very much love Country Canine Retreat with our 2nd dog, Dolly. Dolly is a rescue and had some baggage come with her at 4 months old in 2016 (or so). She has some sass, she's a bit bossy, loves her cuddle time, belly rubs and has enough energy to keep the lights on at the Boston Garden and Patriot's Place! The staff has done an excellent job keeping her busy, entertained, engaged throughout the 5 days a week. She plays with several dogs throughout the day. She loves CCR, recognizes all the staff and comes home sometimes with even more energy at (almost) 11 years old. By Friday, she is one tired happy dog. I love talking with the staff and owner. They are kind, considerate, knowledgeable. I trust them completely. I cannot imagine Dolly going anywhere else.

They took down the photos of the dogs having fun at playtime (think they discontinued it). Our dog came back from the last time almost crippled. But when the dogs were collected last week, following a 6-day stay, their beds, their blankets and the dogs themselves were soaked in urine. I should mention that one of our dogs is older and can have accidents. But the younger dog can go for a day without peeing, so HER soaked bed was much more telling. My daughter assured them she would NOT be bringing them back to board. To add insult to injury, despite a very late drop-off (after 5) and an early pick-up, they tagged on two full days of boarding to our bill. One star is too good for my review here.

They treat each dog as if it was their own. We're always greeted with a warm smile at drop off in the morning, and another at evening pickup. We love that they offer spa and boarding services, meaning it's one less place we, and our pup need to visit. Otto, our 5 year old German Shorthaired Pointer is always excited to head to "school" in the morning, and literally struts out the door with his nose held high in the evening when leaving.

The staff is always super welcoming and so excited to see my pup. They always have fun events going on too which is great and keeps us interested. I've boarded my pup a number of times here and it is always great knowing they take good care of my pup. Individual playtime in the evening, never any issues with feeding/special requests, and they were very on top of everything. The staff is amazing, my dog loves the staff and the other dogs, and they are always happy to help. I would definitely recommend anyone with a dog that is friendly with other people and dogs, and is also comfortable with periodic downtime in crates, to experience dogtopia.

I chose Community Animal…read moreHospital based mostly off reviews, and I'm glad I did because I probably wouldn't have known about the Inn & Spa. Google was only showing me places like Woof, Gibson's and Waggerz. I've tried Woof and Gibson's so far and Community Animal Inn & Spa is my favorite. The Inn & Spa is located underneath the Hospital. Pull into the same parking lot for the Hospital but go down the hill and there's more parking down there for the Inn & Spa. From the parking lot, you can see the outdoor area. They have curbside pickup now and you can either text or call (but the staff is super good about coming out before you even get a chance to do that). What makes the Inn & Spa better? Their outdoor area and size of the facility. They rotate the dogs to play inside and outside so the dogs get a decent amount of TLC, time to stay on their normal potty schedules, and then time to rest some if they choose. I also feel like the Inn & Spa has more staff attending to the dogs. My dog is always super excited when I bring him here and he's pooped when he comes home. He's pretty high energy and some other daycare places that are smaller don't do the trick for him. The staff is super friendly and personable. They took a cute picture of him when he was playing in the snow. They're also great about feeding him and fulfilling any requests. The only bad is that they open too late! 8AM on weekdays and 9AM on weekends. I would totally take him here more but I have to be at work too early, which is why I had to check out other daycare facilities. Also, a package to make daycare in bulk cheaper is in the works so that's a plus. Overall, if you need a vet, if you need lodging, if you need grooming, or if you need just daycare, this is seriously a one-stop shop for it all. Highly recommend! (Just open earlier pretty please!)

They come home exhausted after having a fun day and they even get a special treat before they come home. I'm truly thankful for Scott and his team always making us feel welcome and making sure our boys are taken care of.

I called on a Friday and left a message to inquire about having my 30 lb Icelandic Sheepdog groomed. I received a text message from Lucas on Sunday following up. When I told him the size and breed of my dog, he replied that they cannot currently accommodate new customers with longer-haired breeds, as the groomers are booked months in advance and they can't keep up with demand. Lucas was professional and apologetic and for that I'm appreciative. Being in a position to turn away customers and income is a good problem to have for any business, and I hope that they continue to see high demand for their services. However, from the customer perspective, the reality is that I called a business requesting a service, and I was turned away. Unless you're a nightclub, that type of treatment, as necessary as it may seem in the short-term, doesn't bode well for long-term success. I still have a dog that needs to get groomed, and I'll have to take my business elsewhere. In doing so, I'll likely recount the experience of being turned away to other dog owners, and as any business owner knows, word-of-mouth is crucial to success. For the future, I'd recommend the team take a different course of action than to simply turn people away- rather, advise on the lengthy wait time, offer to make an appointment, no matter how far out, and offer to call if cancellations arise. I would have greatly appreciated that courtesy and felt as if they really wanted to earn my business. Instead, I was left feeling shut out and as though this business couldn't be bothered to accept my money. At the end of the day, simply saying "sorry, can't do it" to a customer, no matter how necessary it may feel and how politely you deliver the message, will always leave a bad taste in their mouth. They'll tell others about that bad taste, and they'll likely never return.
