I should mention that one of our dogs is older and can have accidents. But the younger dog can go for a day without peeing, so HER soaked bed was much more telling. My daughter assured them she would NOT be bringing them back to board. To add insult to injury, despite a very late drop-off (after 5) and an early pick-up, they tagged on two full days of boarding to our bill. One star is too good for my review here.

We had to take her to an ER vet for treatment and medication. When I brought this to the owners' attention, they failed to acknowledge any responsibility or offer any compensation for what was clearly a preventable issue. To make matters worse, their response was delayed by two weeks and came across as hostile. I left my phone number and a voicemail and never got a call, just a defensive email. Following that, they even deactivated our access to the reservation portal. Our pets deserve better care, and pet parents deserve to be heard--not dismissed. I truly hope moving forward they ensure dogs that are boarded aren't left wet or damp overnight and try to do better. However, they gave no indication that they were going to change anything in their care routines moving forward. I wouldn't trust this business, especially the owners. Below is a photo they uploaded into the reservation portal of her clearly being soaked with water, the other photos are after the ER vet where she had to be shaved down and given steroids to clear them up. We have two young rescue dogs, one of which was horribly abused and is thus very shy and afraid of people and takes a long time to warm up to anyone. We wanted to schedule several visits over the course of Feb-May to be sure our dogs would be comfortable with their caretaker while we were away. We met with the owner, and then with a caretaker, which seemed to go well. Then when we tried to schedule another visit, we got put off and put off multiple times over weeks with various excuses ranging from weather to injury and no callbacks, we always had to initiate communication. After several weeks of this treatment, we were informed by the owner that our dogs were too high maintenance and that Fresh Trails was not willing to work with us. Let me say, for the record, that I totally understand rescue dogs being difficult to work with, especially one who was as abused as our poor girl was. I do not fault Fresh Trails at all for declining to work with a dog with issues of that nature. Where I do find fault is with the incredibly unprofessional way we were treated, especially as Fresh Trails was well aware of our time constraints and our desire to give our girls plenty of time to get used to their caretaker. It should not have taken 2 months to come to the decision that our girls were too challenging, especially when several weeks had elapsed since the last visit.

I called on a Friday and left a message to inquire about having my 30 lb Icelandic Sheepdog groomed. I received a text message from Lucas on Sunday following up. When I told him the size and breed of my dog, he replied that they cannot currently accommodate new customers with longer-haired breeds, as the groomers are booked months in advance and they can't keep up with demand. Lucas was professional and apologetic and for that I'm appreciative. Being in a position to turn away customers and income is a good problem to have for any business, and I hope that they continue to see high demand for their services. However, from the customer perspective, the reality is that I called a business requesting a service, and I was turned away. Unless you're a nightclub, that type of treatment, as necessary as it may seem in the short-term, doesn't bode well for long-term success. I still have a dog that needs to get groomed, and I'll have to take my business elsewhere. In doing so, I'll likely recount the experience of being turned away to other dog owners, and as any business owner knows, word-of-mouth is crucial to success. For the future, I'd recommend the team take a different course of action than to simply turn people away- rather, advise on the lengthy wait time, offer to make an appointment, no matter how far out, and offer to call if cancellations arise. I would have greatly appreciated that courtesy and felt as if they really wanted to earn my business. Instead, I was left feeling shut out and as though this business couldn't be bothered to accept my money. At the end of the day, simply saying "sorry, can't do it" to a customer, no matter how necessary it may feel and how politely you deliver the message, will always leave a bad taste in their mouth. They'll tell others about that bad taste, and they'll likely never return.

Luna had a great time during her visit. It was her first time to the groomer at just under 7 months old; her undercoat is still developing and her overcoat is only just starting to come in. We learned that it was the first Belgian Tervuren that Bubbly Pup has groomed, and it was evident they really did their homework and studied her breed for a perfect approach to her grooming. We couldn't be happier with the results and will definitely be back. I also appreciate the convenience of text messaging in addition to phoning for appointments and updates.

When our first dog got old, there was a point when they recommended we don't board her. We ended up changing our vacation to bring her with us instead. Not only did we get more quality time with her, but we gained the confidence that our kennel cared about her. Over the years they have reliably fed special diets, medications, and dealt with psychological quirks that a couple of our rescued dogs have had. Our dogs go in happily and come back happily. However, we noticed that during longer stays, her feet were usually soiled and hair was matted with a foul odor. We immediately moved her to a more cleanly kennel for long periods of boarding. Additionally, when she was about 14.5 years old, the owner abruptly refused to continue boarding her for short stays simply stating in a very crass manner that she was too old without providing any explanation for this conclusion. Overall, the staff are extremely unprofessional and have little care for their boarders.

They were unfriendly and treated my animal as a hassle/job instead of part of my family. After that I've been pretty skeptical about groomers, but I trust Robin. She's very friendly and she seems to really care about dogs. When I arrived for my first appointment, she was looking at dog with severely matted fur, and the owner was asking her to comb it out. She tried to explain to her that she thought the hair was too matted. The owner left, presumably to find someone who was willing to comb out her dog. When Robin talked about how much pain the dog would be in, having all those knots combed out, I swear it looked like she was going to cry. That's one of the things that makes me trust Robin, she seems to really care about the dogs. I love how the whole store front is glass so you can watch her grooming the dogs. Lauren and Donna take extra special care bathing Peanut to minimize stress. Peanut has come to love Donna as much as me (yes, I'm jealous). Brenda and Robin always get his nails smooth and short. The old groomers did not round off the nail leaving it sharp and Peanut and I would pay for this over-site in blood. Also they did not clean the insides of his ears, this is very important for a Dachshund as it can lead to ear infections. Thanks to Robin's keen eye I found out that my Peanut was suffering from a pretty severe ear infection that could have been prevented if his ears were properly cleaned. I later added Ruby the dachshund to my family. She is older and suffers severe arthritis of the legs and elbows. Robin takes extra special care and we have never had an incident of arthritic flair up during a groom. Ruby loves her visits to Wags To Whiskers. While my parents were alive they had 2 long haired cats that would always play in water and get matted. My father would place them in a carrier and walk them over to the shop since he didn't have a car. When Robin found out that he was on disability and my mother had cancer she lowered the rates for the cat shave downs. She even arranged for rides to and from the shop so my father wouldn't have to carry the animals to the shop. As long as my dogs live and Wags is open for business, they will go to no other groomer.
