There were 5 large rabbits each in tiny cages, and one of the Holland lop rabbits for sale had an eye infection. The tanks were dirty, and the entire shop looked shabby and depressing. Almost all of the aquarium lights were off, and there were signs of illness in the fish. A tortoise was in a plastic stock tank with a bowl of filthy water, and no enrichment. Heartbreaking, I hope the care improves.

Absolutely no option to reserve a time for appointment. What if other people have a habit to plan ahead. Why priority is given to the favorite customers? Not a reliable establishment.

I was hesitant to give…read morethis place a try due to all the negative reviews, but I've been bringing my rescue Beagle, Walter, to Boston Dog for four months now and it's been nothing but a great experience. Jeremy and his team take wonderful care of him, and went the extra mile to welcome Walter to the pack since he's a bit of a shy guy. Both Walter's separation anxiety and confidence have improved since coming to Boston Dog, as he continues to gain trust in the world and the people in it. The other pups seem very sweet and I'm so happy that he has some new doggie pals to hang with. I find their rates reasonable and I also like that I don't have to make a reservation in advance. The only minor drawback is that they don't accept credit cards, it's either cash or check, but that's not a big deal.

We originally had our first dog Casey start back in 2011. We loved the original daycare and we still very much love Country Canine Retreat with our 2nd dog, Dolly. Dolly is a rescue and had some baggage come with her at 4 months old in 2016 (or so). She has some sass, she's a bit bossy, loves her cuddle time, belly rubs and has enough energy to keep the lights on at the Boston Garden and Patriot's Place! The staff has done an excellent job keeping her busy, entertained, engaged throughout the 5 days a week. She plays with several dogs throughout the day. She loves CCR, recognizes all the staff and comes home sometimes with even more energy at (almost) 11 years old. By Friday, she is one tired happy dog. I love talking with the staff and owner. They are kind, considerate, knowledgeable. I trust them completely. I cannot imagine Dolly going anywhere else.

The staff person gave no instruction or guidelines whatsoever and simply sat by as we tried to figure the place out. One of the more offensive moments came when we were told "I think your time is about up anyway" after one of the staff person's friends entered with her two dogs and we had no idea what the parameters of us being there were. What, just get out now? We felt because we had never been before and weren't familiar with the place that we were unwelcome at this exclusive club. At least our dogs didn't mind the attitude. Don't waste your time.

Pauline and Mickey, who work there also, are super friendly and caring. I have peacocks and it is hard to find a vet to care for them when problems arise. Dr. Sager's knowledge of all animals, including exotics, (peafowl), is vast. I also have brought my cats to him. He never rushes through an appointment, spends lots of time explaining his diagnosis and treatments. Sager Animal Hospital is the best animal hospital anywhere. I am lucky to have them as my vet/ hospital.

When our first dog got old, there was a point when they recommended we don't board her. We ended up changing our vacation to bring her with us instead. Not only did we get more quality time with her, but we gained the confidence that our kennel cared about her. Over the years they have reliably fed special diets, medications, and dealt with psychological quirks that a couple of our rescued dogs have had. Our dogs go in happily and come back happily. I finally am writing this review as the front desk man deemed my dog too old to stay there anymore and was extremely rude over the phone when asked what about her behavior led to this conclusion. As a result, we use a different service but I wish I could go back and never start with this business in the first place. Throughout the years, the staff were very unfriendly and rude when communicating. They do not allow customers to provide anything else for their dog such as toys or their beloved bed, even though some dogs find it very stressful to stay somewhere other than their usual home. Overall, I find the owners/management to be fully profit driven and inconsiderate about others (humans and dogs).
