There were 5 large rabbits each in tiny cages, and one of the Holland lop rabbits for sale had an eye infection. The tanks were dirty, and the entire shop looked shabby and depressing. Almost all of the aquarium lights were off, and there were signs of illness in the fish. A tortoise was in a plastic stock tank with a bowl of filthy water, and no enrichment. Heartbreaking, I hope the care improves.

I was hesitant to give…read morethis place a try due to all the negative reviews, but I've been bringing my rescue Beagle, Walter, to Boston Dog for four months now and it's been nothing but a great experience. Jeremy and his team take wonderful care of him, and went the extra mile to welcome Walter to the pack since he's a bit of a shy guy. Both Walter's separation anxiety and confidence have improved since coming to Boston Dog, as he continues to gain trust in the world and the people in it. The other pups seem very sweet and I'm so happy that he has some new doggie pals to hang with. I find their rates reasonable and I also like that I don't have to make a reservation in advance. The only minor drawback is that they don't accept credit cards, it's either cash or check, but that's not a big deal.

It has now…read morebeen over 4 years and our dog -- Riley (who has the same level of energy at age 6 than she did as a puppy) -- still goes to Country Canine and we're still seeing the same very positive benefits as previously. The staff continues to be friendly and they are clearly passionate about dogs. They've brought in various new staff over the years and every one of them has done a fantastic job. If you have a dog with boundless energy and are looking for something to help them get some of that energy out, or if you have a dog that just doesn't get the opportunity to get out of the house enough and interact with other dogs and want them to enjoy a happier, more social life, I highly recommend giving Country Canine a try.

We originally had our first dog Casey start back in 2011. We loved the original daycare and we still very much love Country Canine Retreat with our 2nd dog, Dolly. Dolly is a rescue and had some baggage come with her at 4 months old in 2016 (or so). She has some sass, she's a bit bossy, loves her cuddle time, belly rubs and has enough energy to keep the lights on at the Boston Garden and Patriot's Place! The staff has done an excellent job keeping her busy, entertained, engaged throughout the 5 days a week. She plays with several dogs throughout the day. She loves CCR, recognizes all the staff and comes home sometimes with even more energy at (almost) 11 years old. By Friday, she is one tired happy dog. I love talking with the staff and owner. They are kind, considerate, knowledgeable. I trust them completely. I cannot imagine Dolly going anywhere else.

Never in my life have I been made to feel so unwelcome at a dog park or activity center before. The…read moreperson on staff this evening was utterly disinterested in us and our dogs and we should have known better when we felt as if we intruded on her conversation in the parking lot upon arrival. The staff person gave no instruction or guidelines whatsoever and simply sat by as we tried to figure the place out. One of the more offensive moments came when we were told "I think your time is about up anyway" after one of the staff person's friends entered with her two dogs and we had no idea what the parameters of us being there were. What, just get out now? We felt because we had never been before and weren't familiar with the place that we were unwelcome at this exclusive club. At least our dogs didn't mind the attitude. Don't waste your time.

Pauline and Mickey, who work there also, are super friendly and caring. I have peacocks and it is hard to find a vet to care for them when problems arise. Dr. Sager's knowledge of all animals, including exotics, (peafowl), is vast. I also have brought my cats to him. He never rushes through an appointment, spends lots of time explaining his diagnosis and treatments. Sager Animal Hospital is the best animal hospital anywhere. I am lucky to have them as my vet/ hospital.

When our first dog got old, there was a point when they recommended we don't board her. We ended up changing our vacation to bring her with us instead. Not only did we get more quality time with her, but we gained the confidence that our kennel cared about her. Over the years they have reliably fed special diets, medications, and dealt with psychological quirks that a couple of our rescued dogs have had. Our dogs go in happily and come back happily. We were boarding our morkie here for nearly 12 years due to its close proximity. Despite the staff being extremely rude and unfriendly, our dog appeared generally happy during short 2-3 day stays. However, we noticed that during longer stays, her feet were usually soiled and hair was matted with a foul odor. We immediately moved her to a more cleanly kennel for long periods of boarding. Additionally, when she was about 14.5 years old, the owner abruptly refused to continue boarding her for short stays simply stating in a very crass manner that she was too old without providing any explanation for this conclusion. Overall, the staff are extremely unprofessional and have little care for their boarders.
