I truly debated whether to write this review, but if it helps even one pet owner make an informed…read moredecision, it's worth sharing. This was my senior dog's first appointment. We arrived 10 minutes early, only to be told to wait in the car because the exam room was being cleaned. It was the middle of summer, and despite running the AC, I became increasingly concerned about keeping my senior dog comfortable and safe. We weren't brought inside until about 20 minutes after our scheduled appointment time. Unfortunately, the wait didn't end there. Once inside, we sat in the exam room for another 20 minutes while my dog became increasingly anxious, restless, and fearful. Staff came in and out asking questions, but the veterinarian didn't enter until my dog was already overwhelmed. Before the exam, I clearly explained that my dog is very protective of his face and can react quickly. I even brought my own muzzle to help keep everyone safe. By that point, however, after spending roughly 40 minutes waiting and building anxiety, he was too distressed to cooperate. When he managed to remove the muzzle, the assistant became increasingly forceful and visibly frustrated. The veterinarian then suggested using a towel over his head so they could listen to his heart and lungs. Instead of calming him, it sent him into a panic. Hearing my senior dog struggling under the towel, desperately trying to clear his nose and escape, was heartbreaking. I asked if there was anything I could do to comfort him, but I was immediately told no because of insurance reasons. In the end, they couldn't complete the exam and recommended gabapentin before attempting another visit. I left with a senior dog who was frightened, hypervigilant, and completely shaken by the experience. I understand that fearful pets can be challenging, but I also believe the long delays and handling methods greatly contributed to his distress. His fear escalated long before the exam ever began. We will not be returning.

The weekend of 12/7/2024, Murphee was unable to stand and walk again but this time he was worse. He had health problems, Cushing's and problems with his lower back and back legs. Monday afternoon 12/9/2024 Murphee legs were very weak and he could barely stand. I called the hospital and explained the problem. Dr. Churchill came to the phone and told me to bring him in immediately (this was late in the afternoon). Dr. Churchill examined Murphee and we saw how weak he was and could not stand. My heart was breaking but I had to make the decision that not of us want to do. I had to put Murphee to sleep. I want to thank the great the Techs, Kaylee, Heidi, and Debbie as they were so wonderful to me and Murphee. I watched as Dr. Churchill administered the injections and watched my baby take his least breathe. I want to thank Dr. Churchill for her compassion, her kindness and the love she has for her patients. I received a condolence card from Dr. Churchill and the personal note that she and Heidi wrote that touched our hearts. Thank you, Dr. Churchill and Heidi, for the card and Murphee's paw prints that mean so much to us. I would highly recommend Dr. Churchill at Brookline Animal Hospital to everyone.

He is a solo practitioner and it is a small clinic with basics. If you suspect something that needs further diagnostics beyond basic x-ray, basic bloodwork, or vaccines and general medicine, I would go to one of the other larger area pet hospitals- in Westford, Waltham, Wachusett, Woburn, etc. Dr. Norelli is very cost conscious and will be very reasonable in terms of conservative treatment. If you are looking for medical care that goes above and beyond (and perhaps needs an ultrasound or an MRI or physical therapy), I would seek a second vet or another veterinary hospital system. He does basic surgery such as dentals, neutering, and lump removals. Maintenance care and palliative care. His hours are limited to the work week Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays 9-5pm, so you have to take time off of work to bring your pets here, but if you like being in the exam room, having a one-on-one conversation with your vet and your pet isn't too sick, this is a great and unique clinic! The entire veterinary profession is changing with commercial hospitals and a practice like this is unique and a gem. I recommend Dr. Norelli's practice if you're in the area and needing an empathetic vet.

The facility is clean, the staff is always friendly, & the doctors are as well! They send a post card as a reminder when your pet is due for shots, renewing medications, etc, which is helpful as I can't keep all that stuff straight. My one complaint is they do seem to be a tad pricey, but we'll still come here, it's worth it. Highly recommend!

Previous vet never mentioned getting any of these shots AGAIN. Got to the appointment (cat's ears are inflamed and red). You'd think they check that, nope. Held her a bit and started to try to sell me on shampoos and steroids (cat has had 3 steroid procedures in the past. Not destroying her liver and then coming back in 2 weeks to throw more proverbial shit against the wall. Nope. Its the ears, which is what the appointment was made for. Finally checked the ears. Found black gunk..hey what do you know?!? Ear infection. As suspected. Over charged me on meds that can be bought on Chewy for 20% less. Also asked for a nail trimming for this appointment when I called. Nails didn't get trimmed. Also almost overcharged me for the visit (initial visit is "free"). After running my card they then realized the mistake, which they promptly corrected. It's just incredibly frustrating to walk into these places, after already sharing all available previous medical records going into it. And clearly being tried to get taken to the cleaners, before any exam has started. I told you what was going on. I supplied all history, and they still wanna start from scratch, throw shit against the wall, and hope your sucker-ass will come back in 2 weeks so they can ring you up again. Fuck that.
