Our server was excellent, very enjoyable and had a cheery attitude. We had the Chorizo burrito and the eggs Benedict. The Chorizo was very good! It had good flavor and a little backend heat. The eggs Benedict was also excellent with a large amount of hollandaise sauce and a very nice piece for Canadian bacon. Enjoyed their Latte however at $5.50 each we thought that was rather high.

Since it was my friend's birthday, they surprised us with a large plate of freshly made beignets, served piping hot right out of the fryer. They were drizzled with both white and dark chocolate sauce and served with a side of whipped cream. Delicious! For our meals, we both ordered the Avocado Toast. He got the standard version, which comes with two eggs. I chose the same dish with smoked salmon added. The food arrived quickly. Both dishes were very good, but with a few small tweaks, they could have been outstanding. We ordered our eggs over easy, but they were cooked a little longer than that, so there wasn't much runny yolk. The avocado was nicely mashed while still retaining some chunks, which I really enjoyed. The smoked salmon was fresh and generously portioned. The toast was also topped with diced onions and tomatoes. There were quite a few onions, more than I would have preferred. I removed a good portion of them, and there were still plenty left. Service: We received excellent service throughout our visit. We were greeted warmly when we arrived and given a choice between a table and a booth. We chose a comfortable booth, and our server, Shawna, did a wonderful job getting us settled in with water and drinks. She was friendly, attentive, and made us feel well taken care of. Thanks, Shawna! Atmosphere: The restaurant has a fresh, modern look. It's spacious and thoughtfully designed. Even though there were plenty of other diners, it never felt crowded, and the noise level made conversation easy. Large windows let in lots of natural light, making the space bright and inviting. A very good breakfast, and with just a few small tweaks, it could easily have been an excellent one.

The mansion was built in 1856, making it the first mansion in Lake Geneva. The estate has been completely redone but charming details were kept. Along with a mansion where you can book a room, Maxwell also includes beautiful gardens, lounges, outdoor fireplaces, a heated pool, croquet and bocce ball. There is also a separate area in the back with motel rooms. Like I said, I was there for a lil' drink. There's a bar inside the mansion (Apothecary Bar) with all kinds of medical and druggist paraphernalia, with the space being a tribute to Dr. Philip Maxwell. But it's the speakeasy, which is accessible outside in the front of the house, that you'll want to visit. Ask for the password inside the mansion, and they will let you into a dark, below-ground bar. It's all decorated in prohibitionist flyers, and even the bartenders are dressed up in period costumes. It's a really cool and unique bar in Lake Geneva.
