I ended up trying Jen's Yoga class, Ty's Bootcamp and Jen's SUP class. I recommend all of them. Both Ty and Jen are great teachers. They listen to your needs and abilities to challenge you, but also give you options if you're rehabbing an injury or have an physical limitations. Ty's Bootcamp is a fun, challenging class. He combines cardio intervals with strength sets...no weighs needed. It can be as intense as you make it. I love this because the class intensity isn't based on the level of the participants. You can push yourself or choose to take it easier. You'll earn that poolside Mai Tai after this one. The SUP class was for all levels. Now if you're very experienced then it's probably not for you, but who knows you could still have fun. Jen taught us how to carry the boards, get them in & out of the water, basic maneuvers on the boards then we did a few vinyasa flows. The soft waves add a real challenge. Jen was a patient and very encouraging teacher. She pushes you to challenge yourself and to make sure you're having fun at the same time. Jen specializes in helping women who are new to water sports to get into them. She was also great with my husband who joined me in the lesson. He wasn't initially that interested in spending the money on the lesson, but after the lesson was over, he couldn't stop talking about how great the sport is and how great a teacher Jen was. He was immediately trying to see when he could go out again and how to get his own board. Jen stressed what a good sport it is for families to do together. My kids were so excited that I tried something out of my comfort zone and are looking forward to me joining them in more beach activities (instead of sitting on the sand watching them play). Penny is a top notch instructor and their students are very welcoming which makes it feel like a safe place I can take my kids and wife to train at. Finding this place, you'd have to trust your GPS and you'll see a small sign on the side of the road, but make your way to the actual gym and you are greeted with a huge Pacific Jiu-Jitsu logo lol. It is right next to what seems to be a Crossfit gym. The facility is well cleaned and nicely lit. There are plenty of good vibes through everyone we've met. We only could train here once while on our vacation, but it could have easily turned into a training trip as a priority rather than a vacation trip as a priority lol. I did and it was a great decision, made me realize all my fears about not being able to keep up and worried about what other people would think were wrong. Those went away during the first couple classes. The coaches there are pretty amazing as our Mark and Joanna, the owners that take a personal interest in your health and journey. It's not just a gym they embrace you and all you come with, with open arms. They correct you where you need to be corrected. The coaches are amazing. Joanna and Mark have really done an amazing job at creating a fun, positive, and wonderful community of athletes, atmosphere and have included health into the lives of people that need it the most. You won't find another gym like this one I guarantee you that, this place will always have my heart...even when sometimes I struggle with my own health and fitness when I come back and workout it's like I never left. My goal was to learn as much as I possibly could in a short amount of time, and working with Rita O'Connor at Private Image Studio was hands-down one of the highlights of my trip. Rita is an exceptional teacher--gracious, incredibly patient, and truly gifted at breaking things down in a way that builds confidence quickly. Because of her, I felt genuinely prepared to return home and continue learning salsa in a group setting, having already built a solid foundation through our private lessons. One of the best parts was that I was even able to attend a salsa dance party the week before New Year's Eve and actually dance--practicing everything I had learned with multiple partners, many of whom were also Rita's students. That experience alone was such a testament to how effective her teaching is. Rita went above and beyond in every way. She even brought her husband in as a second dance partner so I could learn and practice the steps from different leads. At the end of each lesson, she made sure we videotaped the steps--both her demonstrating and me dancing--so I could practice between sessions and see my progress throughout the week. That extra level of care made such a difference. I can't recommend Rita highly enough if you're considering private salsa lessons, whether you're visiting Maui or live locally. I absolutely can't wait to come back to Maui and take more lessons with her. She's truly amazing.

Also, she makes it fun by making you do exercises you never even knew before, but the ones that make the "difficult" areas shrink. I've had a true luck and honor to find Katie during my trip to Maui and in just 7 short days of working out with her 1:1 and taking her group classes I saw some great progress and felt / saw good results. For context, I worked out with personal trainers in the past so my "bar" is high and Katie is right on top and above that bar. I was truly impressed with Katie's professionalism, level of preparation for classes, hardcore/challenging but at the same fun exercises, and attention to me.
