We were recently dog sitting nearby Pizza Chef's Perinton location, and were recommended to go here for pizza and subs. Specifically, we were told to either get their turkey sub, made with fresh-roasted-in-house turkey and their delicious bread, OR the taco pizza. We couldn't decide so we got both, figuring we could always eat left overs. The time of our order was peak lunch time rush, and it took about 30 min to get our food. We saw them making the pizza and subs fresh, and we also observed a lot of other diners, some regulars, enjoying their food and the conversation with the staff. Everyone was friendly and happy. We took our order back to where we were staying and dug into the pizza. It was a little salty for my personal taste buds, but not my husband's - he really loved the flavors. I was impressed with the crust - which is always a mark of a good pizza in my book. I would get this again, but would ask for something like a side of ranch or blue cheese to help cut the saltiness. Later that same day we ate the subs. The turkey sub was easily - seriously - the BEST turkey sub I had had in a very long time. Maybe ever. The fresh-roasted turkey, the fresh fillings - lettuce, tomato, cheese, onion, and the Italian dressing - all were the perfect flavor profiles and amounts. The whole sammy was well balanced, so no one ingredient dominated. We had ordered a large, again, with left overs in mind, and cut it into pieces. I added mayo, and just thought it was moist, really tasty, and total comfort food. I would drive across the city to get that sub again. They sell soda in a case as well as ice cream, and have quite a large menu that includes wraps, sandwiches and subs (hot and cold), lots of different signature pizzas plus a breakfast pizza and options to build-your-own, plus a variety of fried sides like fries, onion rings, mozzarella sticks, jalapeno poppers, etc. They also have wings and salads. Definitely check them out if you haven't already. And get that turkey sub. You won't regret it! read more

I really like their pizza, especially with the garlic sauce. I love broccoli on my pizza and I feel like they put the perfect amount and size of pieces. I'm not as big of a fan of their sheet pizza because the dough is usually really chewy for some reason. I would still eat it though. read more

Great place for a great bite. I had a dozen wings split with two sauces (Buffalo Parm and Hot). They were spicy but not overwhelming. Great flavor and a good fry. Exactly what you would expect out of a good buffalo wing. As I was eating my wings someone came by and picked up a pepperoni pizza and they opened up the box to eat a slice right there. Not typically a fan of "NY Style" pizzas, but this place made a pretty amazing one this evening! They didn't have cup and char pepperonis - otherwise I'd probably be handing out 5 stars. Got a large cheese pizza, and whatever cheese blend they used, was absolutely delicious! Had just the right amount of sauce, and it wasn't too sweet or too sour like some other joints. The crust was above average as well, though nothing mind-blowing. Prices were pretty standard for what you'll usually see around Rochester. Everyone has a favorite slice of pizza and this is mine (in the greater Rochester, NY area at least). I like Joe's Brooklyn and Pontillo's in the Basin but given the choice The Pizza Chef is my go to. Thin crust with "not too much" cheese. They are closed on Mondays and have specials on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. There are usually four to six different pies available by the slice. Great Buffalo Chicken pizza on Tuesdays, Taco Pizza on Wednesday, and BBQ Chicken on Thursdays. A sausage and pepperoni seems to be a standard and it's great. The shop is family owned and run and they are always friendly as well as generous to the community. Their wings are also very good. The location is on the side of a small plaza on Whitney - you can miss it if you're not looking for it. Two good size slices and a 20oz soda is under $10. read more

Lackluster. Came highly recommended which made me highly disappointed. Crust was burned on edges and very tough. Not crispy and easy to bite through, or soft and doughy. Just tough, like a workout for your jaw. The cheese was not fully melted either and we had to microwave the slices before eating. Also got a calzone which was loaded with cheese, but had noooo seasonings. You can't just roll up ricotta and mozzarella cheese without jazzing it up a little! This is usually my go-to pizza place but recently the last few orders I've had have come soggy (for delivery). The pizza has been soggy. The fries have been soggy. The onion rings have been soggy. Sadly heating them up in the oven doesn't work either. I'm disappointed lately. I think it's fine if you pick it up but it's like for delivery, they put it in the bag super hot so a ton of moisture collects on the food (so it's wet and well... soggy). read more
