When we entered the Whisky Bar I figured it was a local bar with your standard 12 year scotch and bourbons. But when I we pulled up to the bar I was in wonder. Almost all the shelves, to the ceiling were full of some of the finest whiskeys. There was scotches that I rarely see, and some Irish whiskeys I had been hoping to try. I started by asking for a rare scotch, from the Ben Nevis distillery. Yep they had it, including a single barrel batch 2nd option from there. I was surprised. And immediately ordered one, neat. After that i glanced at the menu and saw a A'bunadh. This one it tough to get state side as well. We only planned to stop by for one quick, but I had To have a pour of the good stuff. We left, with me wishing we had more time to appreciate such a fine bar. We will be back soon enough.

The service is impeccable with a staff who is very knowledgeable about the intricacies of the menu and super in tune with patrons. This bar has a very cool way of crafting drinks as an ode to the relationship between Norway and the United States. It's a beautiful science of all of the senses. We had every specialty drink on the menu (except the one with the gold coin). Some places have a hard time executing on really great drinks, service, AND ambiance... this place does it all with excellence. The drinks are high quality, intentional, and amazing. The food (we had the sliders) also caught us off guard with how good it was. From our seats at the bar, George was an incredible bartender! We're so excited to see how the menu continues to transform with the seasons, offering new and exciting cocktails. We will absolutely be back and recommend Pier 42 to anyone we can!

It's priced ok and not very expensive for Oslo. I had their Christmas beer and it was quite nice. A local micro brew. I ordered the fish and chips with mushy peas. You got about one tablespoon of mushy peas which was quite tasty and a small bartered fish with chips. Taste was ok but the portion quite small and I could have easily eaten two of them ;-) Service is good and friendly. I may come here again but given the choice in the area will look around. It's an area with lots of ethnic restaurants so choices are plenty for reasonable prices.

The bartender was nice and spoke English. I got the spritz and my mom got Mr. Hyde's Boulevard. Mine was refreshing. My mom's was pretty strong. Good atmosphere, but lacking something. Maybe the liveliness wasn't exactly there, but might have been because it was a Monday, but the soccer game win made me think it would be a bit busier.

Too bad some of the bartenders I talked to didn't seem to be too knowledge on the selection, but nonetheless at least I was able to settle on one I wanted. The bartenders were more knowledgeable on their beers and they have a few different ones from all over on tap. For food, I really enjoyed their wings, they were by far one of the most tender I've had, with the meat easily coming off the bone. The "hot" sauce was not too hot, so I actually enjoyed it a lot. Get place for some bar food, beer, and to catch some football (not the American kind).

The place itself is a typical looking pub with the old wooden tables and old looking chairs. Lots of wood and a bit dark. The average age of the people in the quiz night was around 40 but it might be that other days there are younger people. They had some big screens so if you like watching football it can be a good bar for you. Not my piece of cake though.
