After reading other reviews it seems pipe problems is fairly regular and so I have to believe mold is an issue. And then we woke up to yellow water dripping down the bathroom ceiling. There was no fitted sheet on the bed, when I called down to inquire they said they don't use fitted sheets but a bed sheet is used and tucked in around the mattress BUT the sheet wasn't big enough to actually be tucked in. The pillows and bedding was poor quality. To top it all off we had loud drunk people yelling outside our window for hours. The windows did nothing to keep the noise out.

I have no idea whether our experience was typical for this "establishment," which I'm not sure about, but my impression is that it's called Culley's Kitchen and Bar and that it's situated within the Coal Exchange Hotel in Cardiff. I described my soup, entree and dessert below the appended photos. Suffice it to say, beyond that, while the soup wasn't bad, the entree and dessert were great. The room reminded me of a gym with tables and chandeliers and the performing "stage" was just a space beyond the tables. Our evening was dinner theater tailored for tourists and they all did a fine job.

SHOCKING ATTITUDE!…read more My daughter was due to get married at Upton Barn this year and, due to Covid, they had to postpone. As upsetting as this was, the conduct and attitude of Upton Barn made the whole situation so much worse. They would not provide a 'like for like' alternative date, stating that Saturday slots would not be given to existing customers as they were being saved for 'new customers'. My daughter felt she had no choice but to go with a mid-week day but was then told that she would still have to pay the premium weekend rate (over £3,000 more) and pay all remaining charges straight away, some 12 months before the revised wedding date. There was no empathy, or consideration, for what my daughter and her fiancé were going through and it seemed the whole process was about how much money Upton Barn could secure from this pandemic. They say people show their true colours in tough times and Upton Barn certainly did. I would never have believed that a company selling the perfect wedding day fantasy, could be so lacking in compassion, understanding and reason in what has been a very difficult year for everyone. Needless to say, my daughter decided not to stay with Upton Barn and found an amazing wedding venue who have gone out of their way to help accommodate her and achieve the wedding that she has always dreamed of... thank you Quantock Lakes Wedding Venue for changing a terrible experience into one of excitement and joy.

I had a few of the beers there present (Trouble+Strife, Rebel 80/ and Montol for anyone interested enough!). All were top notch. If there is something that I love almost as much as beer (apart from badger baiting) it is cheese. So I chose to challenge them by ordering their cheese plate, but dammit if that wasn't delicious too. Anyone visiting the area should come to this pub. I haven't even got into how good it looks! I made a note during my visit that I saw the ghost of Rick Stein's dog, Chalky. I must confess that I have no idea what I was on about! I hadn't had that much to drink! Logical explanation must exist.

They have a reputation for their own microbrewery, but also stock local labels such as Korev lager and Rattler cider. there is also a decent wine list and a medium sized glass of wine is around £4-£5 depending on what you get. It is popular - the sunday lunch sold out when we were there as it is available between 12-2.30pm but fear not, the excellent Lewsey Lou's is positioned opposite and staff there will call out your receipt number so you can squeeze in a quick pint between ordering and getting your food. I had lunch there one day mid-week. Standard pub food but a good value portion and staff are aware of dietary needs so I had no issues being gluten free. Tasty, well cooked burger (minus bun) and chips and salad on the side was a decent portion that I din't finish it all. My friend had a sausage sandwich was was rated as very tasty and as it was the special was only £5.95 - sausage in ciabatta with onion relish with chips and salad, so again another big portion. Also on the sunday, left over roasties, veggies and meat were on the bar - not enough for complete portions and I would say on the basis of my limited sampling (beef, bit of parsnip and a roastie, that the Sunday lunch would be well worth a booking!). So, I'm not a local and it'll probably be a year before I go back, but I'll be definitely heading back to try more of the menu and just hangout there after a day of boarding :-)

Surrounded by breathtaking views of Welsh countryside, it's is an amazing venue for everything from private parties to corporate hospitality events. The reception room and bar comfortably accommodated the 68 wedding guests in attendance, creating a perfect atmosphere for an intimate and relaxed gathering. The outdoor deck area boasts stunning views of the lake and surrounding forest, with ample seating and a freestanding fire contraption to keep guests warm on a cold evening. Word of advice: don't bother entering the post code into the Sat Nav, you won't find it. My boyfriend and I had to stop and ask a few locals for directions, so allocate extra time if you need to be punctual. Even local taxi drivers are unreliable, as I found after speaking to a few wedding guests (it took 50 minutes to get 0.7 of a mile at 2 pm on Saturday because he too had no idea how to get here). A sufficient amount of parking is available - just watch those stilettos on the gravel-lain ground!

Set in five acres of well-maintained grounds with a woodland backdrop, Canada Lake is easily accessible from Cardiff (just a few miles northwest near the village of Creigiau) and is a pleasant setting for a day's fishing. It's full of natural wildlife and the lake is stocked with both brown and rainbow trout, and is popular with both beginners and keen fishing enthusiasts. Brown trout have to be released back into the lake. The average fish size is two and a half pounds, but fish up to ten pounds have been caught. Open to the public, they provide a Leisure & Fly service (no need to book in advance) as well as corporate fishing packages. For leisure users there are various tariffs available for full days or allowing you to catch up to a certain number of fish, and so on.
