In the charming village of Hartland this pub does a popular sunday cavery. For 7.50 a person you go up and help yourself to veg- roast or boiled potatoes, carotes, sauted leeks, chali cheese, cabbage, peas and 2 different types of gravy. There is a choice of turkey, ham or beef.
The main dining room is a bit 'old peoples homeish', but we took our food into the bar area and really enjoyed eating whilst watching the grand prix on the big screen!
I have to admit i found the meat a bit dry and the veg overcooked- but that could be because we arrived quite late- lunch is served 12-3 and we got there at 2:30.
Deserts were proper comfort food- i had apple crumble and custard and my partner had chocolate pudding with clotted cream. Both were stogy in a very satisfying way! read more
