Most people seemed to be going for the carvery (and we were told if we wanted to sit outside in the sun, the carvery was the only option...) so we all went with that. Why I liked it: - I am not normally a fan of carveries...they make me think of dry meat and uninspiring, overcooked vegetables BUT the thatched inn version was actually really good. - Veggy wise: there was honey glazed parsnips, cauliflower cheese, leeks in some amazing creamy sauce, broccoli, peas, perfect roasties, looovely swede mash...it was all gorgeous. - They have large, puffy Yorkshire puddings - We had a choice of lamb, turkey or pork (with loads of crackling) a or a nut loaf for the vegetarians - All of that was £10 (!) I wasn't too keen on the fake grass outside... and the staff were not particularly friendly... but we all still had a really good meal and I'd definitely come back if I happen to be in this area again.

We had a bar snack sandwich each and was impressed by the staff and the quality of the food, so we had a quick look at the full menu and decided to book a table for that evening. The food is quite traditional, but with a wonderful eastern influence. Beautifully presented with fantastic flavours, every course was a delight and I thought the bill was very reasonable. I've certainly paid more for lesser fare than this! I would heartily recommend anybody who finds themselves in the Barnstaple area check this place out!

My pie was as hot as the devil's forehead and remained so until the last bite, I'm hoping the skin on the roof of my mouth grows back pretty soon! I'd give my dinner a solid 8/10.
