The Rake & Riddle caters for everyone with a tidy sized restaurant, sports bar and cafe. There is an outdoor seating area and play area for the kids. With a tidy sized car park to the rear. I had the mixed grill, which was cooked perfectly, and my wife had the Gammon which she thoroughly enjoyed. The chips that came with both are cooked just like regular chip shop chips, which is a major plus from us. The price is comparable with similar restaurants and I felt the portions were good value for the money.

Downstairs there is another bar which you can get cocktails from the pricing of the drinks are very reasonable. There is also more seating, toilets and a small dance floor. The music that is played there is up to date. It can get quite busy on weekend but having two bars is good as you don't normally have to queue for long. I find that overall the bar has a good friendly atmosphere

It's a nice pub, with a friendly atmosphere and a comfy, discreet outer seating area to the front (a bit removed from the street) - only, it's not much of an IRISH pub. You can get Guinness - Duh! - but that's about it. When I asked for Kilkenny at the bar - it drew a blank. All the other beers here are English! That's very peculiar for a place that calls itself an "Irish Pub" - and in very big letters on the front! So, while the pub itself is plesant, quite stylish and very comfy with its darkened interior, lovers of Irish beer will be gravely disappointed. Some Irish spirits however are available. Staff were nice and polite.

What can I say? Pleasantly surprised! Reasonably priced varied menu and huge portions! I can't say I would enjoy it personally during a big footie match etc - I would imagine it gets quite noisy and boisterous but if I was into sports then this would be the place I'd go! Huge TV screens and a relaxed atmosphere. Quite a few pool tables and from the glimpse of the beer garden I did see, it looked quite nice.

I think the beers were £2.10 a pint; I'm now used to London prices, so this was a real pleasure. Good fun and handy enough to be opposite anothergood warmup pub; the Perkin. I think they also have live music nights

Really friendly smiling staff willing to help out as much as possible. That was a big PLUS in this day and age. Coffee was brilliant at a reasonable price taking into account the situation and views from their patio.

There is a choice of turkey, ham or beef. The main dining room is a bit 'old peoples homeish', but we took our food into the bar area and really enjoyed eating whilst watching the grand prix on the big screen! I have to admit i found the meat a bit dry and the veg overcooked- but that could be because we arrived quite late- lunch is served 12-3 and we got there at 2:30. Deserts were proper comfort food- i had apple crumble and custard and my partner had chocolate pudding with clotted cream. Both were stogy in a very satisfying way!

What a measly portion of chips and a cheap banger that the skin burst on while frying.
