I didn't even know about The Pie Hut until I was discussing with a coworker that I was planning a trip to Sandpoint, Idaho. She strongly recommended to get a piece a pie when visiting town and to get the Coconut Cream Pie if possible and if I liked that sort of thing. I do and when I made a visit to town which overall is very walkable I swung by to get a slice. The place was very busy and very popular! I ordered my Coconut Cream Pie slice and enjoyed it immensely! Service was super friendly and prompt despite it being busy. The pie was wonderful and lived up to it's name perfectly. The crust at the bottom was excellent too! I could have easily have had another but restrained myself from doing so. You can get pie by the slices or whole pies but be mindful that to pay it's cash only. read more

The people who work here, and the locals coming in, all definitely seemed to know each other. We liked the soups we ordered, but their pies were delicious. The three of us fought over the Creme Brule one. That's not a surprise when they're called the Pie Hut lol. Super cool!!! Attached to an antique/consignment shop in Sand Point. There's a modest food menu and a ton of choices for Pie!!! Afterall, it's in the name. I had the Huckleberry a la Mode and the wife had peanut butter and chocolate.... BAM!!!! #Gysot Delicious to say the least... The owner was also our server I believe and she was a charmer. Oh my heart, be still. This is my favorite place in town. Just a small, home-y little joint that has the best pie and the best service in town. Everyone is so genuine and kind here and it's sandpoint's hidden gem in my opinion. A friend just took me here earlier this week. I tried 3 different sandwiches, all delicious. My favorite was the jalapeño popper sandwich, the pastrami sandwich was great too. Then there was the soup . . it was some kind of beef soup, can't remember what it was called . . as good as the sandwiches! Finally there was the pie. This is my favorite place to eat in Northern Idaho, it's cozy and quaint and decorated with local art. But the food here is phenomenal, I have never had a bad meal here over the years. Which stretches over a period of 10+ years. I usual go for the Huckleberry Monte Cristo which is like eating lunch and dessert in one sandwich. Both savory and sweet it is absolutely delicious. I don't know if they still make it but they also had at one point a Beef stroganoff soup, I love stroganoff and the soup was amazing! Hopefully they still do and the next time your in or I'm in I'll have the luck of ordering it. On to the pie, after your meal you have this amazing pie counter that has no less than 20 options it seems all homemade and baked fresh. This may be your biggest and toughest decision here. I won't try to steer you in any direction, your just going to have to come in and get some yourself. Unfortunately after standing in front of the register/ pie case for almost 10 minutes and no one acknowledging me- I left. It was not busy. There were a few(3)people who obviously worked there walking around to the few tables(2 were being used) and doing idk what. I miss Panhandler. They were always great with customer service. I won't try the pie hut again. It's been the same experience every time I've gone there. I guess since I just want a pie to bring home I'm not spending enough. They are not cheap either. I'll go to Millers. It's a drive instead of a 5 minute walk but worth being acknowledged and actually getting a pie or other dessert that I know tastes good read more

What it has going for it: - great variety of pies - pricing on par with similar establishments - owner is wonderful - pies taste very fresh What it has going against it: - during holidays you need to order early - parking lot can be challenging - cash only So this small little bakery puts out some great product. At any one time there are as many as 20 or so varieties of pies available by the whole pie or by the slice....even huckleberry. They also serve lunch but I haven't tried their lunch items yet. They normally don't make sugar-free pies but can if you order ahead. Every type of pie I have tried there I have enjoyed. Our friends told us about the Pie Hut and how good the pies were. So we drove to Sandpoint from Coeur d'Alene to try it out and it was definitely as good as we were told if not better. We had the French Dip with Beef Stroganoff soup and the chicken pot pie with the minestrone soup. All was outstanding. We finished with a slice of cherry pie and banana cream. Heather is definitely a master pie baker because both were fantastic. We ended up buying an apple and cherry pie to take home. Great place with great friendly service and the best part, the pies. We were told to come here for lunch that it was the best around. I have to say I was not very impressed by the sandwich I ordered. Then I got my pie,... I was getting banana cream pie my favorite!! One bite, and it made me gag it was made out of Jell-O pudding and absolutely not one banana bite in it. I asked the woman and she said we don't use bananas????&$&!! It was banana flavored only. She was nice about it and said she would get me something else so she brought me a different piece of pie. I had such a bad taste in my mouth from the banana pudding I could hardly eat my pie.
