My family is in town for a reunion in Montana, where I grew up. We're staying in Sandpoint, so I dropped into this adorable bagel shop to grab a breakfast sandwich after my morning walk along the water (highly recommend!). I met Angie, who has owned this restaurant for 5 years, this November (come support Angie as she reaches this rare milestone!). She has lived here all her life and was very friendly and welcoming. My review reflects how much I liked Angie. The menu reflects bagel sandwiches, more than an emphasis on the bagels themselves, which appear to be purchased, rather than made in-house, as the bagels were in bags. (But I could be wrong; I didn't ask.) if you're craving a bagel sandwich, this is your spot! I had the Best Part of Waking Up, which is customizable and I had an everything bagel with egg, bacon and pepper Jack cheese. Apparently, there's a specialty spice blend that she uses. The sandwich was about what you'd expect, hit the spot, but nothing special. If I had a recommendation to Angie as Sandpoint grows, I'd suggest bringing in farm fresh ingredients (eggs, bacon, produce, specialty meats) and edge into the farm-to-table arena (yes, you'd have to raise your prices; the bagel sandwich was incredibly reasonable!). We had a late breakfast here yesterday. The woman and her kids? Were super sweet they weren't busy so she offered suggestions. The shop is so cute I absolutely enjoyed my visit. You can feel the love and pride that was put into this place. The bagels here are good, soft, and fresh. I ordered the best part of waking up with an everything bagel and the long bridge with a sesame bagel they were good but honestly they were missing something... I dont know if it is I feel the bagel should of been toasted or maybe just a little salt and pepper but it was missing something. It wasn't the ingredients they were good and fresh. I have to say though I would go back try something else or just get some bagels and schmear. read more

If you want to wait an hour for mediocre bagel sandwich, then come here. My sister and I both ordered a bagel sandwich for lunch one day. I got a breakfast one with egg and bacon and she got one called the Stallone which had a variety of Italian meats. There was nothing special about these sandwiches - they even use store bought bagels to make them. The meat on the Stallone was just OK - not that fresh. Not many complaints about the egg and bacon sandwich, but not many positives either. I might have given Uptown Bagel a three star review if the service was better and the wait times were shorter, but the combination of just OK sandwiches and an hour long wait makes this a two star review. read more

Ate here with friends- and it was delish! Bagels were soft and chewy, staff was fun and friendly. Cute atmosphere! Food was made in a very timely fashion and I will def be back. ***only downfall is they close at 2pm. Sometimes this is a bummer because I take late lunches. Check them out! read more

Wunderbar! The owner is friendly, honest and makes a great bagel sandwich. As a former New Yorker, bagels are not really that great but what she does with them makes up for it. Lox Bagel was yum! Ingredients were fresh and the service was prompt. Lettuce was crunchy! Cucumbers freshly sliced and lox of good quality! What it has going for it: - decent location - customer area is clean - owner was friendly What it has going against it: - they don't make their own bagels, they are store bought....ie. not fresh - pricing is a little high for what you get - limited street parking - not open Sunday - limited drink selection So I have been searching for a real bagel store since I moved here from NYC in 2017. Someone told me there was a bagel place in Sandpoint. So I took the ride to try this place. The items on the menu sounded good and pricing seemed on par with other sandwich shops at first. So I ordered my sandwich and 2 extra bagels for later. To my astonishment I see the girl who is making my sandwich pull out bagels from a plastic bag.... the type of bag store bought ones come in. Sure enough they don't make their own bagels. They get shipped from Queens, NY... so at best they are a day or 2 old bagels. Sorry.... if a bagel place did that in NYC, that place would be out of business in a couple of months. Bagel places are suppose to make their own bagels... they are suppose to be fresh and used the same day they are made (at least that is what I am use to and that is the norm in NYC.... maybe I'm spoiled) So the bagels do come from NYC, but even for a NYC bagel they are aren't anything special.... (guessing because they aren't fresh and a little on the small side) I think they try to steam the bagels a little before they build your sandwich to get the staleness out. As for pricing/value.... these aren't big sandwiches your getting here... they are using bagels that a little on the smaller size, so they have to fit at the sandwich innards onto a smaller area, so you get a smaller sandwich. Now what was a little weird is that the owner let me know they don't even use these "New York" bagels on every sandwich. Apparently some of the bagels they use are from the local supermarket in Sandpoint...go figure. I am disappointed....I really thought I finally found a true bagel place. To their credit at least they are trying to get as close to the real NYC bagel experience by sourcing most of their bagels from NYC. It is more than most other places do. Three stars is for this area ..... Do I see myself coming here again... maybe if I'm in the area. * born and raised in Queens and have lived in NYC area for over 40 years.... probably been to at least 40+ different bagel joints in my life (mostly in NYC or Long Island) read more

I cannot believe I am the first to review this wonderfully New York Bagel style shop I have been to outside of New York. Crunchy on the outside soft and warm on the inside. Good size bagels and amazing toppings. The Store - The store is very clean and invites you to walk through the doors. When you walk through the door you are greeted with an 80's feel of pretty in pink, and the breakfast club hung on the walls. Nice decor of yellow, red, blue, and green chairs. The Bagel - I was greeted with a friendly smile and choose "The Viggo" on an everything Bagel scooped center. Everything looked amazing and nothing was hidden so what I saw is what I got. As I bit into the Bagel I was transported back to my childhood on Long Island, I felt the crunch of the outside and then the warm soft center as it combined with the fresh cucumber, rip tomatoes, thin carrots, and banana peppers that added a little sweetness. In the end I was transformed from an uptown girl to a gremlin as I devoured this die hard bagel like a terminator. In Closing - If your in the area and want something that will satisfy your taste buds while reminding you of everything you ever loved from your childhood, then you have to take a ferris bueller's day off grab your goonies and get your footloose to the Uptown Bagel shop. read more

Cute little bagel shop for breakfast bagels and sandwiches as well as lunch bagel sandwiches. They serve plain coffee....not lattes. The staff was very nice. I had a yummy bagel (olive) and great cream cheese (herb) ...but the service was VERY SLOW! Stop in on a lazy morning....don't stop if you're in a hurry. The ambiance is cute....throwback. The bagels are AMAZING! The bagels are fresh and delicious and nothing like the ones you get in the grocery store!! My personal favorite is the cranberry energy one. Smear it with their fresh frischkase (homemade cream cheese) for a real treat! The owners and staff are super friendly and the atmosphere is great! Stopped in for breakfast while in town for a soccer tournament my son was playing in. I love the 80s movie posters on the walls and the 80s music playing inside. My kids have seen their share of 80s movies, but I am now on a mission to show my kids "The Outsiders", "Top Gun", "Footloose" & "Pretty in Pink". The service was very friendly and nice and we talked about seeing "Raiders of the Lost Ark" recently on a big screen. The New York bagels are huge! I really enjoyed my bagel sandwich with egg, Swiss cheese, capers and avocado. My son enjoyed his plain bagels (for some bizarre reason my son does not like eggs or cream cheese). I wish we had a bagel place like this in Missoula, Montana, where I live. Definitely stopping in again on our next trip to Sandpoint, Idaho! read more

Covid19 review: I been here a couple of times for a quick bite in the morning. Ordered the long bridge on a bagel and it was pretty bomb. Well, being in Sandpoint for over 40 years, one thing my family misses mis New York bagels and pizza. This eatery hits the mark on the bagels! Pizza is not on the menu which we find elsewhere, but Uptown Bagel is our bagel fav. Yes they import them from The City. It must be the NY water and local charm that make a chewy inside, crispy crusted bagel. Their rye is the best. Lots of variety in sandwiches and schemers.
