We use the Pet Wagon for boarding and daycare. I have always seen the owners and employees interact with my dogs in a kind and loving way. They have great service at an incredibly reasonable price. I feel valued as a customer and feel like my pups are valued. I had to board my Beagle very last minute a few months ago when my fiance had a medical emergency while out of state on business. They are the only place in the area who has 24 hour staffing. Because of this I was able to drop my dog off after they closed and get on a flight. I don't know what I would have done without them. They also have all the dogs who are boarding participate in daycare. When I moved here from New York I contacted everywhere within an hour radius that offers boarding. I had an entire list of questions and expectations, and spent the better part of a week taking tours. What I found is most places keep the dogs in a kennel for up to 20 hours a day with limited outdoor time (unless you want to pay by the hour for outside time). I liked how clean the pet wagon was. I liked the 24 hour staffing. I liked the double fencing outside. And the dogs stay in nice rooms with beds and a blanket. I also like the size of the Pet Wagon: there are lots of dogs to play with but not so many that there isn't adequate supervision. I have two dogs, one of which we just rescued and is very fearful of strangers. They have been incredibly understanding and know how to make him feel comfortable. All of the staff members know how to approach and handle him to keep him as calm as possible, and after only a couple visit he's excited to go back. I have been a customer of The Petwagon for about a year and a half. There are numerous things about this business that makeit stand out, and I can't say enough good things about them. To start, they are extremely caring towards my dog Graham. Everyone I have met from the Pet Wagon who interacts with My Schnauzer iis kind and caring, and he always seems genuinely happy to see them. I was told by a friend who lives in my apt complex that "she was very impressed with my dog walker." One day Graham was being walked, and her dog (off leash) ran up to Graham. Maria immediately picked up Graham to protect him against a strange dog, in case the dog was aggressive. I feel that they are extremely responsible and trustworthy, and always have my dogs safety and comfort in mind. I also really appreciate how flexible they are. They have been extremely accommodating to my hectic schedule. They were able to provide me with a new pet consult on very short notice, and can always provide Graham with a walk, even with little notice. They always seem to be able to fit him in for at home multi day walks when I go away on vacation, and always have availability for him at their new pet hotel. The pet hotel facilities are immaculate, and really dog friendly. My colleague uses the pet hotel as a day-care during her work day, and her dog loves it too! It's a great opportunity for exercise, socialization, and companionship for my dog when I am away. This is a far superior experience compared to staying in a crate 24/7 at a traditional boarding center. Also, they are extremely affordable! Great value, but nothing is more important to me than knowing my dog is happy and safe when I am not there for him! read more

My dog has been going to The Pet Wagon since she was a puppy (born 1/2/2014). Started out with the training with their affiliated Dogability training company. (I left a separate review about them - AMAZING!) Juan, Maria, Jennifer, Madeline, and the rest of the staff are absolutely wonderful people. The day care facility is SPOTLESS and clean. They place the dogs in appropriate play groups for their size and disposition. They give every dog love and affection and they even text me photos of my dog every day! My dog goes there every day while I am at work. Everyone there knows her by name and they greet her excitedly when she walks through the door. You can tell that everyone there loves their job and loves dogs. My dog LOVES this place. When driving her there in the morning, she perks up and starts getting excited as soon as we turn the corner onto Old Chapel Hill Road because she knows where we are going. They have lots of play areas and toys for the dogs. They even have a small pool for the pups to splash around in on hot days! I've boarded my dog there on several occasions when I've needed to travel, and she has a great time. They keep me updated via text messages and photos while I am away, so I feel less guilty about leaving her. She is very happy when I pick her up, but I can tell it's because she's excited to see me - not because she can't wait to get out of there. Sometimes she greets me and then wants to go right back and play some more! Overall, I HIGHLY recommend The Pet Wagon. I won't take my pup anyplace else. read more

The Pet Wagon is wonderful! We adopted a very skittish (but loving and adorable) hound from a local rescue in May. About a month later, I had to go out of town and my husband works very long hours. I was on the verge of panicking about finding a dog walker, when I reached Maria of the Pet Wagon. She came to my house for a visit to meet my dog, and she won my dog over in less than 10 minutes . . . which was truly a miracle, given how shy my dog is. Maria walked my dog several times while I was out of town; she was very reliable, texted me pictures to show me my dog was doing well, and was willing to talk to me at length about how my dog did (again, a big deal for me, since my dog is so skittish). Finally, I decided to take my dog to the Pet Wagon's daycare for a trial visit, to see how things would work out. Maria had assured me that even very shy dogs get used to and grow to love daycare quickly. Sure enough, my dog LOVED it! Now we take her to the Pet Wagon daycare whenever I am out of town, whenever we have contractors working on our house, and sometimes just to work out some of her excess energy. The minute she walks in the door of the Pet Wagon, she starts wagging her tail, and as soon as an employee comes out to take her back to the play area, she starts to wag the rest of her body too. We also boarded our dog for a few nights while we were both out of town, which was great because our dog was comfortable with the place and the people at the Pet Wagon. I moved to Durham with my very special pup Eloise a few weeks ago. I work long hours during the week and did not feel comfortable leaving my little pup alone all day. I found the Pet Wagon and it has been one of the best things that ever happened to me (us). I bring Eloise to daycare there 3-4 days a week. The facilities are large and clean. There is absolutely no smell at all (it's amazing!!). The dogs that Eloise plays with are good dogs. Eloise is being socialized with both people and dogs. Best of all, she uses up all that stored up energy so that when she comes home so tired that she just wants to sleep!! Even better, I notice that she is well mannered during the days that she doesn't go. The staff at the Pet Wagon treats Eloise like she is part of the family which is very important to me. Also, I get pictures texted to me several times a day showing me what my little pupper is up to. The owner came to meet Eloise and I at home personally the first day. Before choosing The Pet Wagon, I researched many dog walking/boarding service as Eloise's happiness and wellbeing are paramount. I really like this place because I can bring her for daycare, keep her there overnight if i have an emergency, and have her groomed and put her in training if I want to. There is a vet right across the street which makes me feel comfortable in case she has an emergency. Our rescued dog turned out to have anxiety issues that make it difficult to leave her alone. Pet Wagon to the rescue! Hannah goes to day care 3-4 times a week and because she has a great relationship with all the staff, we are really comfortable boarding her there when we go out of town. The facility is beautiful and clean, and the staff are sweethearts. One of the things that sets Pet Wagon apart is that it isn't just a doggie free-for-all... Hannah gets to play and be in an environment where she is comfortable, but they also reinforce some of the training she did with DogAbility, Pet Wagon's sibling business. After spending time and money getting her to a certain level of obedience, it's really nice to know that isn't being ruined by overindulgent staff. I had another petsitting service approach me at the dog park one day, bragging that they "treat your dogs like family". They went on to say that they let them get on the furniture just like at home. I know that is the way it is at some homes, but at our home, we actually have a couple of comfy spots for our pup on the floor - we don't invite her on to the furniture and we don't want anyone else to do that. Bottom line - The Pet Wagon boarding and day care is a top-notch, professional facility that takes the time to learn *your* dog. They don't just take the leash from your hand and throw your dog into the pen and leave them. I love Pet Wagon! read more

This place is fantastic! I always show up unexpectedly when I want to check a place out for my dogs. Maria and Cynthia greeted me and told me a little bit about the place. Maria took me on a tour of where the dogs stay and play. I was immediately impressed by the cleanliness. There were several fenced in large play areas both inside and outside. The rooms my dogs have stayed in are very nice with raised beds. My dogs love it there! I am surprised at how well all of the dogs get along. There is always supervision in each play area. My dogs have stayed overnight at The Pet Wagon many times. Last year we had several family emergencies and I'm pretty sure they spent more time there then with us. In some emergency cases, I was unable to get enough food beforehand for the duration of their stay. Maria was going to go get more of their food so they wouldn't have stomach upset from a food change. This is a good example of how far they are willing to go for their pets, especially since the food is only sold at one place that is not exactly convenient to their location. My dogs sit by the door in the morning waiting for me to bring them to The Pet Wagon. Since we can't be with our pets all of the time, we rely on them to let us know whether we are bringing them to the right place. That's how I know that The Pet Wagon is the right place for us. read more

We can't say enough about The Pet Wagon. Our experience with them has been wonderful. We came across them by chance when we first got our Dobie, and they have been involved in her life since then. WE have used them for dog-walking, boarding as well as training and have been satisfied with all services. Juan is so passionate about dogs and training that when we asked him to train our dog, he took an extra hour (uncompensated) to sit with us and go over the principles of the training methods he would be using as well as how we can continue to train our pup. We always get compliments on how well behaved our dog is. Regarding the boarding, our Dobie always gets super excited when she sees her bag being packed as she knows she's going to Juan's and Maria's. We have never felt hesitant to drop her off as it is clear she has a blast there and continues with her training. We got picture texts of how much fun she was having. The Pet Wagon had our keys and we never had any unpleasant incidents. They have always been flexible with us. Juan and Maria have been like family and we're sad to have left Durham as it will be very difficult to find a similar set up. I would recommend this place without any reservations! read more

The Pet Wagon has been an extremely reliable and professional company for our pets. Juan and Maria have been nothing but great for us. We have relied on them for multiple services which include: pet-stting our cat, Oscar (over the holidays), getting our dog, Pablo through a 4-week training program which included boarding at their own home, boarding Pablo at their fabulous new facility, and walking Pablo during the week. We have never been disappointed or let down with their services. Pablo is always very excited to see Juan, Maria and their staff at the Pet Wagon. We always get daily pictures when Pablo is boarded or walked. And not to mention, Pablo is always tired for at least 2 days after spending a day at the Pet Wagon because they do not keep the dogs crated all day like other facilities. They are playing non-stop. Also, Maria and Juan are always available by text and Maria will even add Pablo onto the walk list for the next day at the last minute! You could never go wrong asking this fine couple to help you with any pet issues, transportation etc. Juan, though extremely busy, traveled through the night to get our Newfoundland home and was very helpful in teaching us about the discharge instructions and the handling of our dog who had a hip replacement. He and his wife are very committed to their clients and the quality of their service, their knowledge in their field, and their desire to give excellence is beyond expectation. Words are not enough to describe how much my dog, Arlo, loves this place. He is a 3 years old golden chow and I adopted him 6 months ago. Chow mixes are not very friendly dogs and additionally he had a tough life before I adopted him - so he has trust issues and he hates to be approached by strangers. Employees of the Pet Wagon have been so wonderfully nice to him that only after 2 visits and a Christmas stay he was the happiest guy in the world to give them hugs and play with them. My experience with Pet Wagon (we have used them a few times now) has been great! Before our first trip, Maria came to the house so I could introduce her to my two Siamese boys and see where the food, litter, etc. was located. She arrived very promptly and is very pleasant to work with. My one Siamese can be very aggressive towards strangers but she was very calm with him and unphased by his little attacks. This last trip, one of my cats decided to play hide and go seek with Maria and did an exceptional job. Maria informed me right away that she could not find him and spent a long time looking for him until she could locate him. She sent me pictures of each cat every day. We have been using the Pet Wagon for the past three years for dog walking, boarding, and training. We have two Golden retrievers and Juan and Maria have gone above and beyond time and again for us. Our youngest dog had to have surgery and they have helped us take him/pick him up from vet appointments when our work schedules couldn't be rearranged. When he was casted they came over twice daily and carried him outside so that he could remain non-weight bearing (look for our pup, he's on the website!) We also did a formal 4 week training with Juan and have never been happier. We can now bring the dogs anywhere and they are perfectly behaved. i love the petwagon -- primarily because there is always someone on sight with the dogs and it seems like the people that are on sight are extremely diligent about watching the dogs and making sure they get along. my dog milo especially loves lounging in the pools. the play area is astro-turf like material, which i prefer, because milo has very bad seasonal allergies onset by grass -- so i think this helps with reducing allergies and general cleanliness overall. the staff upfront are friendly and accommodating and often will snap a picture of him doing something silly and text it to me. i feel comfortable leaving my best bud with these nice folks. he always leaves happy/tail-wagging. read more

We have 3 high maintenance dogs and I can count on one hand the number of people I would trust to watch them. Finding Marie and team at The Pet Wagon last year when we moved to Durham was so lucky for me and a big weight off my shoulders! They are great with pets and my dogs adore them, plus they are extremely reliable. They work around my schedule and always show up when they say they will. I don't worry about them having a key to my house, and I know that in an emergency they are always there for me. I have been taking my dog to daycare (he is now 11 months old) since he was 6 months old. He gets excited the second we pull into the parking lot. The staff is personable, engaging, and remembers all sorts of details about him. All new dogs are gently introduced to the other dogs and grouped by size, temperament, energy level, etc. We have also used Pet Wagon for overnight boarding. I feel very safe leaving my dog with them. Additionally, they always text me a few pictures of my dog throughout the day. . . a free bonus! I've boarded my dog there once or twice, and taken him to daycare there several times. He's a shy greyhound, and they took the time to get a feel for his personality and match him with a playgroup with compatible temperaments. When I was away they sent pictures of him making new friends to my phone. He seemed to have a great time there, and everyone who works there seems to genuinely like him. Their prices are a little higher than some of the competition, but that's more than made up for by their superior services. read more
