I've been taking my animals to Dr. Wilson for over 20 years. I've moved farther away and have tried other vets but I always go back to Dr. Wilson. He's worth the drive. I've been going to Pet Stop for about two years and I'm done. Front desk staff is not friendly. Doctors are a mixed bag. What really gets me is the lack of listening to what the problem really is, as well as things like what happened this weekend.. This weekend I took my cat in for a recheck on a kidney infection that had been hard to get rid of. No luck getting a sample. Doc said I should leave her for the day and they would give fluids and get a sample. I said good. I left her for four hours. They got the sample, charged me $38 for a stay in the cage (which wasn't mentioned or I just would have returned with her later), and over charged me $80, which I caught and was taken off (the second time I've caught an overcharge). I'm done. Moving on to another vet. read more

Not very happy with how long it takes to get someone to notice you standing there waiting. They need to have someone dedicated to front counter and someone who just does phones . Took 30 mins to get claws clipped and only one other person there with a pet. Crazy. read more

Dog Grooming was marginal at best. In the future we learned from this to ask if groomer is comfortable with breed. We can shave our dog at home. That's what we specifically ask to not be done. read more

These people are amazing. Dr. Wilson was the primary vet tending to the health of my black lab for 15 years. The service and care we received from everyone there was tremendous. My dog loved going to the vet even though there were times that weren't much fun. That tough day came when it was time to put him down. The staff outdid themselves in making sure everything went as well as possible for both of us. The actual procedure went flawlessly. It was fast and easy for the dog which meant the world to me. I can't thank you folks enough. I highly recommend the Pet Stop to anyone searching for a great vet. read more

I just adore Dr. Versteeg & Dr. DiRizzo! They are honest and know there stuff. The clinic gives me a warm friendly and positive feeling. My kitty even seems more relaxed at this clinic which is just wonderful since she is so shy. That positive feeling transfers over to the clients at the clinic. People just start to talk to you and want to associate with you and your pet. If you bring your pet to this clinic, you will not be sorry. :) read more

I took my dog in to the pet stop last June because she had a cough & was lethargic. They took her in the back for X-rays & blood work. The vet told me they couldn't find what was wrong with her. She prescribed some pain meds for her. $269. She never addressed the cough. I took her back in last week for the same problem. Again they took x-rays & did blood work. The vet, a different one, told me that she has a tumor and they could operate. According to their records, my dog is 6 years old, She is 12 years old. I have been taking her there for the last 10 years.....Their staff is Clueless! Because of her age, I opted out of the $1800 surgery. Every time I have been there, I see a different Vet. They have the wrong name on my account & the don't know how old my dog is. Again....The Staff there is Clueless. My dog is still alive and has a cough that They Never Addressed. Like others on here I've been annoyed at how rude the front desk ladies are, seriously rude, rude women. However that probably wouldn't have stopped me going there if I had had good veterinary care. I will never go back and I have been telling EVERYONE I know with an animal about my experience and have even heard another awful story about this clinic since this ordeal began for me. That isn't spite, that is me looking out for my friends and family's animals, this place does NOT care! I moved close to the Pet Stop and soon after noticed my dog had developed a lump. I had used the Pet Stop years before for my cat's check ups and whatnot and decided to make the switch of vets for my 2 year old dog so we went in to get the lump checked out. I really regret not making the drive across town for the old vet, I really really do! The Dr diagnosed my dog with a mast cell tumor and we scheduled surgery later the same week. I have a vet friend down south who recommended my dog begin antihistamine treatment immediately before surgery until the wounds healed. I'll always trust the providing vet over someone who hasn't examined my dog so I called the Pet Stop to ask about this treatment. I never got to speak to the Dr but a vet tech told me that "new research showed anti histamine medication for a mast cell was unnecessary." I thought it odd since a little benydrhl seemed a harmless enough counter measure for a tumor prone to releasing histamines but she told me I could talk to the Dr before surgery the morning of. When I dropped my dog off, the Dr did not come out front to see me but I didn't ask for him either. After the surgery when I picked up my dog the Dr did not come to talk to me but sent a vet tech. I asked the vet tech again about the antihistamine treatment and she said she would go ask the Dr. She came back and told me the Dr said it was unnecessary as "he has removed all of the tumor." Again, I thought it odd for such an easy counter measure to a potential side effect and I regret not demanding to speak to the Dr himself, but I decided to trust what I was being told. Strike 1: I didn't get to speak to the Dr after surgery, nor did I receive any follow up calls after surgery (from the Dr or even a vet tech) and just received a piece of paper with care instructions. Strike 2: 3 days after surgery my dog had a serious allergic reaction with a swollen face and hives. I took him to the ER vet who gave him an epi shot and put him on a treatment plan of antihistamines until the wounds healed JUST LIKE THE OUT OF STATE VET RECOMMENDED. He also needed to be put on Pepcid as histamines damage a dogs stomach and he wasn't eating. I did more research and found antihistamine treatment for mast cell tumors are still a common form of treatment. Additionally, despite the exam done days before surgery where my dog had one tumor ON HIS EAR looked at and the exam done the day of surgery (both of which I paid $55 each) they did not look at his ears at all. The ER vet immediately noticed crud in his ears she said wasn't normal, tested it and BINGO, yeast infection in his ears. HOW did the two pre surgery screenings not catch he had an ear infection?!?!? Especially when one tumor was on his ear and that ear had to be shaved!!! How incompetent can you be? I called the operating vet at Pet Stop a week after surgery to inquire about lab results and further treatment plan. I learned some of the tumor was likely left behind in my dog as no healthy tissue was found in one tumor's margins. I can forgive that, honest mistake but it made me wonder if this Dr had experience treating for mast cell tumors before as my out of state vet friend guessed from PICTURES of the sutures and my description of the size of the tumor (easily felt through the skin) that not enough tissue had been removed. If the Pet Stop Dr hadn't done this before I would have appreciated a referral to a more experienced vet. Strike 3: I suppose the Pet Stop Dr didn't want to give free advice over the phone or maybe he was upset I'd gone to another vet (the ER vet in the middle of the night) but when I asked him about further treatment and if I should continue the antihistamine treatment per what the ER vet prescribed he was very noncommittal, he said I could if I wanted to. Or not. It was probably unnecessary. This guy clearly didn't care about my dog and didn't care WHAT I did. He left it to me to decide treatment. My decision is to go to another provider. read more

I started coming here because it has really good ratings. But I am very disappointed in this place. The receptionists are sometimes nice and sometimes rude. Whenever I have walked up to the desk I am always ignored for at least 5 minutes until they finish whatever they're doing. Whenever I have called on the phone for a question they push for me making an appointment and won't answer my questions. The vets are different. I got one guy that I really liked. He knew what he was talking about and answered all of my questions and talked to me like I knew what was going on. The lady that I get a lot(because she always has openings) is extremely nice. But she is always trying to push pills on my dogs or do tests and all sorts of things that and on top of that she'll tell us that she'll run a quick test and it ends up being 20 or 30 bucks when she didn't let us know or ask at all. I have taken my one dog in before when he had a a bad neck issue and the same vet told me it was just his shoulders and gave me 3 different pills and said he'd be fine. He only got worse so I took him elsewhere and it turned out he has a chronic neck issue and that vet gave me a pill that made him feel better that same day. I take one dog in regularly to get his nails done and there is one tech who does a wonderful job and there are the other ones who skip nails. It's expensive, I don't want to pay for his nails to get half done! The only good thing about this place is the one vet I have seen there. For your sake, your wallets sake, and your pets sake, please take your dogs elsewhere. read more

Today I picked up my dog from her grooming appointment. The first problem is, there really is no definitive line in there to tell who came in first and who came in last. I was the next customer in line to be helped when two other ladies came in after me. One of the ladies at the front desk helped one of the ladies that came in after me first. Initially I was like whatever, and just brushed it off. As she was helping that lady she asked one of her coworkers that whenever she's ready to help the next person in line which was me. One of the other receptionists completed her task and she pleasantly asked who was next. Of course I was. But the receptionist that helped the customer that came in after me first rudely says "she actually wasn't in line next the other lady was" referring to me. I am very offended that she wrongly accused me of cutting in front of other customers when she wasn't the one paying attention to who was next. Very inappropriate .That is enough to make me not want to take my dog there again which is a shame because the grooming services there are awesome, Michael does such a great job and everyone else I have encounterEd there has been very friendly. read more

My cat was treated here for over 10 years for "normal" issues like shots and ear infections. When he broke his leg this year it had to be amputated - major surgery for any animal, but certainly for an older cat. It was up to the vets at The Pet Stop to provide follow care after the surgery. That care consisted of 1 page of vague instructions and 1 phone call. There was no consideration of my cat's preexisting health issues or age in the follow up care instructions that I was given and that proved a disaster. In the weeks after his death I contacted the vets and expressed concerns about how follow care is handled. Neither vet I contacted bothered to respond to me. read more

The professionals at Pet Stop have helped my puppy and I tremendously! They fit us in during an emergency situation, have excellent follow up, are in constant communication with you about your pets needs, and are willingly to help in any way possible. They are very fairly priced and the Vets (especially Dr. Riley Wilson) stop to take the time to explain everything to you and actually care about your pets. I never felt like I was just a client, I felt like I was part of their "little family". I encourage anyone to use their services and their expertise. I'm glad my puppy comes here, all the vets are so nice. Katy is my favorite. All the front desk ladies are super nice too. I have gotten her groomed her a few times, he was ok, but i might take her to get groomed elsewhere, he seems kind of crabby or overworked. My cats have the typical vet anxiety and turn from great, attentive and affectionate things to attitudinal problem children at the office. Most of the vets there have seen one or both and done great with them--even to the point where on my last visit my big guy (who has been known to bite me while there) was even purring at the doc. I had been going to another office in town til about 4 years ago (a VCA affiliate) when I finally got tired of the extreme prices and terrible office staff. Pet Stop office staff are smart, quick, courteous, and the costs are reasonable. read more

All of the vets are top-notch and Dr. Riley and Dr. Michetti, as well as the staff, were incredibly kind when I had to have my cat put to sleep and helped me through one of the more difficult decisions I've had to make. I am just very happy with Dr. Versteeg at The Pet Stop, she is truely amazing! I do not say this lightly, for I worked in the vet field for 17 years previously. I left the vet filed when my boss retired a few years ago, and I move onto another field. I was very strict about picking a vet for my cats. I tried another vet but was not impressed whatsoever with them, and so I tried The Pet Stop. Dr. Versteeg walked into the exam room right after my appointment time and I could tell she cared. She pulled up a chair right next to mine and told me to tell her about my kitties medical history. She has been our fur kids vet since. My cat has an issue which has me at the vet every few months, and she has really improved under Dr. Versteeg's care. She is an extremely caring person that takes pride in her work, listens to my concerns, and cares. I can not say enough good things about her. Miss Tink thanks you too!!! read more

We took my dog to visit the vet for the first time when he was just a pup. This was only a month or so after we adopted him. Our experience was horrible. What's worse was he was in his fear period. I don't remember what vet was there for him that day, I don't really care, she was a female vet and she was the rudest person I have ever met. She did not even try to console my dog and handled him like a paper bag. She basically traumatized my dog and then blamed us for being horrible owners when he reacted the way he did. He was so scared that he peed everywhere. Like how terrifying does an experience have to be to elicit that kind of reaction? It was a horrible experience and the vets and assistants didn't even attempt to do anything to console my pup; all they did was stand there and mutter and curse when my dog started shrieking and soiling himself out of pure fear. It was a very enraging experience. I personally hate this place so much after that. I guess this is a decent place if your dog enjoys going to the vet, but if he/she doesn't, the vets and staff only view your pet as a nuisance and act like the scum of the Earth. But nevertheless this was one of the worst experiences I have had with people who were supposed to be professionals in my life. I wish I could give zero stars. read more
