I truly cannot say enough wonderful things about this place! The property is absolutely AMAZING and the cabins are above and beyond in every way possible. Each cabin is unique, but each has its own kitchen, refrigerator, stove, microwave, coffeemaker, outdoor relaxation area, and all are within a 3-minute stroll of each other and the main residence. We stayed at the cabin called "The Barn" and could not possibly have asked for anything more. In addition, we walked the property visiting the beautiful gardens with event areas and gathering spaces. If you are looking for a quiet getaway or a place to host your wedding, reception, graduation party or just about any event where you want to be one with nature in a magnificent setting, Laughing Pines needs to be on your list. It is beyond exceptional! Thank you to Sandi and Stephen for your wonderful hosting and stunning property. We most certainly will be back!!

Wow- what nice, quiet break from Austin…read more Anna really created a magical, peaceful retreat with everything we could ask for. We had a family reunion there this weekend- what a beautiful home to reconnect in. I loved the big, open kitchen/living room were everyone could be in the same room but doing different things- we had board games going on, cooking, and people catching & relaxing by the warm fireplace all in the same main downstairs room. Oh, and the views!! So calming, especially the fog coming through in the early morning. Really enjoyed the porch as well and walking around the property to watch a stunning sunset. As a bonus, the house was in perfect condition, complete even with gorgeous locally sourced wood features, organic soaps and high quality shampoos, etc. The kitchen was also stocked with basics and more (tea, wine, etc). Definitely look at a map before you head out b/c if you have T-mobile or Verizon, cell coverage eventually is lost. It's easy to find if you know what you're looking for. Highly highly recommend staying here for some time to wind down and breathe- definitely wish we could have stayed longer!! Perfect for a single person just relaxing, a romantic getaway and reunions with friends & family. Anna has more photos on her main site & airbnb: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/1157352

Paranormal Activity Cut Our Visit Short!…read more We were looking forward to a relaxing weekend at Belle Oaks and were drawn in by the charming photos and description. But from the moment we arrived, it was clear that--while still beautiful--the inn was showing signs of wear, a faded echo of its restored glory from 20 years ago. What we liked: The property retains a nostalgic charm, with antiques adorning every corner. The hosts greeted us warmly and shared a bit of the inn's history. To their credit, they did warn us that the older electrical circuits might cause occasional flickering lights. What we didn't expect: Lights turning on and off by themselves. The television powering on in the middle of the night. Bed sheets being pulled off us while we slept. Feeling as if I was being touched and it wasn't my husband. The paranormal energy was far more intense than we'd anticipated--and ultimately, we decided to cut our trip short. Other concerns: The pool was dirty, and while breakfast was tasty, it was surprisingly sparse. As someone who's stayed in many bed and breakfasts, this was the first time I've encountered a buffet-style setup with no table settings, no water service, and a limited selection. We left both hungry and unnerved. Speaking with locals we learned that stories abound about hauntings in Gonzales.

I just happened to see something come through my newsfeed over Fb, I bookmarked it, found my schedule open, so headed east to check it out. Emma likes to play in her room... and who doesn't like to play with little spirits?! I didn't know the history of the Magnolia Hotel so was totally clueless walking in the door... Magnolia Hotel has been on Ghost Adventures on Travel Channel. Also, Magnolia Hotel is ~not~ a hotel, it is now a personal residence. To my delight, I was able to hear stories of the old hotel, tales of it's past residents many of which have never left, and how Magnolia Hotel was discovered by the owners. Jim & Erin saved the Magnolia from being demolished... they single handedly have saved a part of Seguin history!... and some haunted history at that! I spent about two hours just hanging out, looking around, and people watching... talked to some interesting people, listening to questions and answers... all very interesting. Did I have an experience? I had something creepy go up the back of my left neck and skull as I was talking to a ghost hunter in the original dining area where the owner was sitting. I also felt some weird things around the house... but something I brushed off at first until I started listening to others talk about it... when you first come up the stairs, it feels really heavy. I originally brushed it off as I just walked up the stairs... but no, go back and you feel it... and everyone was feeling it!!! Emma was playing in her room. One of the guides said just a few minutes earlier, a little girl got scratched. Then someone told her that they saw the door knob in the pink bathroom turn back and forth. The owner, Erin, said this house is more active during the day than at night. Wow! The owners Jim & Erin host a ghost tour in their home on occasion, which books up months in advance. The tour last about 2 hours with in-depth stories which might also include a spiritual reading from the Erin at the end (but only if deceased wish to come forward). Erin has written Haunted New Braunfels, Haunted Seguin, and soon to be released Haunted Magnolia House. All proceeds go towards restoring the Magnolia Hotel. I can not wait to go on their ghost tour!
