Rob has been a friend of mine for a number of years, so I've always known the enthusiasm and commitment he brings to his clients just by virtue of observation--the level of availability and support he provides through his work on a professional level is obvious. I would add, that often leads to an openness and trust on a personal level that allows him to truly help people arrive at a better state of wellness beyond just physical health. It was not until recently, after suffering a spate of miscellaneous sports misfortunes, that I had the opportunity to experience what Rob does first hand. It honestly blew my mind. His ability to diagnose an apparent problem is skillful, and candidly I would have never appreciated the interconnected-nature of my weaknesses on my own. (E.g., this back pain you're experiencing is actually about your glutes). From there, he helps to rectify the current issue, in a way that to my lay mind is a little akin to witchcraft. (I explained to a friend, that when Rob was 'adjusting' my pulled calf muscle it sort of felt like he was doing nothing, and then magically everything was better after). Finally, Rob gives useful, practical guidance on areas to work on that help to improve the overall function and avoid the issue going forward. His approach is full service, which honestly makes him unlike any trainer or therapist with which you might otherwise work. It's why it's so hard to explain what it is exactly that he does, unless you've truly had the fortune to experience it yourself. I've been working with Rob for a few months now, and can't believe the difference it's made. I used to sleep with a heating pad on my lower back every night--now I don't need it. Rob helped me realize that the soreness and tightness I was feeling (especially after having three kids) wasn't something I just had to live with. His approach is super personal, and even over virtual sessions, he has this ability to notice little movement patterns and imbalances I didn't know existed. The exercises he gives are simple but so effective. And as a mom, I really appreciate how flexible and accommodating he is. He's totally understanding when my schedule gets crazy, and even included my baby in a few sessions during nap strikes. I have benefited from Rob's care for almost two years now. It began when I hurt my back digging in the yard and found myself stuck and in pain, unable to get off of the floor. He was recommended to me by my mother who has been a long time client of his. Rob was kind enough to remote in with me and get me on my feet again and out of pain. Since then, we have been working together every two weeks and fixing a lifetime of poor mobility and function. Rob and I met through our respective businesses. Initially we chatted about bringing his services to the apartment community that I manage and what that would look like for his services and my residents. We sat down a couple times to bounce around ideas and pretty soon I was thinking that perhaps I should personally sign up to get training from him. I had had double foot surgery in 2016 and let's say my recovery didn't go as smoothly as I thought it would peppered in with some other health moments. My initial goal was to lose some of the weight I had packed on over the last year. Rob takes the time to understand what the issues are and what that looks like for you personally. This is the first time I have ever worked one on one with a personal trainer and it has been a really positive experience. Rob has a great sense of humor but also listens to what is going on your life for that day, week, month or year. I also really appreciate that he emails notes after every training and that the training itself can be done in small bite size chunks so that you don't feel overwhelmed thinking you have to do an hour or more of exercise to get results. Without really knowing it, I have gotten myself back to a point where I have been able to do a six mile hike without feeling it as I would have previous to working with him and my pants are a little looser too. read more

Like Lauren I've had the pleasure (and pain) of experiencing a training session with Rob Lekan. And he trained me at Hi Fi Fitness as well! Training with someone for the first time is always tough because the trainer has no idea of what you're capable of, but Rob did an incredible job of changing things up whenever he noticed the exercises were too hard or too easy. Unfortunately, Rob caught me on a bad day when I wasn't feeling too well and I almost passed out on him at one point, but he couldn't have been sweeter about it and rushed to get me a bottle of water. And after a few minutes I jumped right back into training (feeling queasy and all) because there's nothing like a good workout where you have fun! And this workout was fun because Rob is such a nice guy with a great sense of humor...but still manages to work you to the max. Now before y'all start private messaging how much for this amazing training session with Rob I'll fill ya in... Rob charges $75 for a session and $100 total if you pair up with a friend (that's $50 each for those of you mathematically challenged). No, it's not cheap, but I've heard of trainers that charge way more than this...and with Rob you know you're getting a good workout! After a work-intensive, sleep deprived week in Chicago that happened to fall during Yelp Eats, Friday morning came around and I woke up excited about my training session (I scheduled earlier in the week) with Rob Lekin. I had no idea what to expect (believe it or not, I didn't read the Yelp reviews before I went) - I just knew I'd need some motivation, and Rob was there to give me just that and so much more! Since I'd never trained with Rob before, he started by making sure I had some sort of body awareness and luckily, I think I passed the test... I like that he was extremely attentive the entire time and was all about giving me a solid workout while keeping a close eye on my body mechanics and making sure I was in correct alignment so as not to hurt myself. (You would be surprised at how many trainers do not do a good job at that). Anyways, we did several sets of ab-work to start (per my request) and then moved on to both upper and lower body combined with some pretty intense cardio as well. The hour flew by and I have to say I was kind of sad to leave... if I lived in Chicago, I could see getting addicted to workouts with Rob. It may be an expensive hobby, but at least it would be a healthy one, right? With all of the reviews that came before mine, it looks like Rob has plenty of clients keeping him busy. I just hope he'll squeeze me in again next time I visit Chicago. By that time, my soreness should be gone from my first workout with Rob... ;) read more

I was fortunate to get a few sessions under my belt with Rob before I had to take a break due to my financial situation. I began working with Rob remotely on video chat and he was able to help me even with a few sessions. He could even detect issues with my breathing and helped me with exercises I could do for my back. I continue to use these exercises here and there to keep myself from going off the deep end. Rob is awesome! I've struggled with chronic headaches and neck and shoulder pain for years. Throw in a difficult postpartum experience with added knee and hip pain for the past two years. I've tried it all - chiropractic, massage, dry needling, yoga, acupuncture, Rolfing, medicine, physical therapy - but nothing gets to the root of the problem. The changes I've experienced since working with Rob are tremendous and I continue to improve. I have not had a headache in a month! You have to be consistent and do the work, but if you do, you won't be disappointed with the outcome. Like I said, nothing has worked until I started working with Rob. Well, I'd like to explain what Rob does, but I can't. It just works. Here's what we accomplished in a few months: My sprained ankle felt so good that after two weeks I didn't need to brace it anymore. Actually, I did because then I played volleyball and dislocated my knee. But! With Rob's help my healing time for that has been cut in half and the pain went down with every session. I'm sleeping better. I carry less stress through the day = less joint pain. My anger isn't as intense. I've spent years figuring out why I react the way I do to situations, but there was a physical intensity that I couldn't release on my own. It was like I was locked in a pattern. It's going away. It's clear to me why Rob's brand is Perpetual Health. This is not your average trainer at the gym. This is even more obvious when you consider you're working out with your trainer on a computer screen. The real magic here is that despite coming to you virtually, Rob is able to see your movement, pinpoint exactly what you may be doing incorrectly, tell you how to fix it, and then, how to pay attention to your body's movement. The result is that you become more aware of your movement when you're working out alone, enabling you to self-correct if needed. All from the comfort of your own living room. It took Rob only a few movements for him to notice that my left hip doesn't move with the same ease or flexibility as my right. What he didn't know was that I was born with a disjointed left hip that required surgery as an infant. We've been focused on making my left hip stronger and using muscles more evenly. All this to prevent a future possible hip placement. Get it: Perpetual Health... To this end, Rob's post-workout notes are so detailed that it makes working out on your own much easier. He breaks down every move to help you recall the exercise and combines exercises into different rounds so you can practice them separately or together, in smaller chunks of time if necessary. Finding a good personal trainer is half hard work and half dumb luck. After weeks of pouring through posts, ads, and other people's recommendations I came across Rob Lekan's Facebook page. He appeared to be passionate, but not overly zealous, about fitness and living a healthy lifestyle. I'm not into getting yelled at,camouflaged as motivation, and I am not into paying someone to watch me run on a treadmill. What I wanted was someone to show me the right way to get stronger and into better shape. Rob starts with an intro meeting so he can understand your goals. I immediately felt comfortable as it was obvious he knew what he was talking about. His workout plans build on each other, as he stresses the importance of creating a strong base. His technique is outstanding, and after just a couple sessions I could totally see a difference. Rob is an incredible trainer - and a lot of fun to work with! I had a series of sessions with him in my home, and working with him has done wonders to improve my posture and get me strength training again. He is not a stereotypical trainer, btw. He tailors the program specifically to your needs. He doesn't come in with an agenda. He listens, and he then has you work at a pace that makes sense for where you are physically (and mentally). He's never pushy; instead he challenges you to slow down and work on the fundamentals (e.g., core strength and awareness), all of which make sense as you proceed to the next step. As all the previous reviewers have more eloquently explained, Rob is awesome. For some background- I am as beginner as beginner gets. I have never had a gym membership, taken a class, or even enjoyed working out in my. Entire. Life. I finally hit a point recently where my blood pressure was through the roof, my body was tired, and I was completely miserable. I scoured Yelp for a trainer, but I needed someone who was going to help me instead of punish me. I didn't need a boot camp- I needed someone empathetic and supportive. I figured I needed a special subject matter for my 500th review and I can't think of a more appropriate business. We all know the story of those creeping pounds, the sluggy metabolism, the totally unmotivated and half hearted attempts at getting fit. Some of us know it a little more intimately than others. Some might even be bff's with this devil's triangle of excuses. I called Rob Lekan thinking he would magically transform me I Dream of Jeanie style but alas, that's not what happens unless you are on kitschy 60's sitcom. Seems you will only get results if you make the commitment and do the work. It also helps that you honestly access the situation. Warts and all. For my first visit with Rob, he actually made me answer questions truthfully and listened to my Red Bull fueled hyper-verbal ramblings. I was ready to do it Biggest Loser style, commit to 2 hours everyday, eat only chicken breast blah, blah, blah. And Rob gently, but firmly told me that I would be setting my self up for failure (again!) and that I should maybe be more realistic in my goals. (ya think). So it began. Baby steps. I thought this gentle caring demeanor would carry over to the one-on-one sessions at Hi Fi Personal Fitness. Au contraire mon ami. Not. So.Much. While gently chit chatting and asking about your calorie consumption he is secretly kicking your butt. He might say "there ya go" but he leaves out the "I am shredding your abs to bits" or "you may not be able to move tomorrow". So yes, he makes you work, but he also takes into consideration your abilities (or lack thereof) and your goals. He assigns homework, expects you to do it and he also knows whether you've done it or not. While personal training is an investment, with Rob, you not only get what you pay for, you get someone who actually cares about where you are in your life, your mindset and is invested in you. He becomes that little voice in your head that pushes you to succeed and to make smart choices. Its not just churn and burn training sessions, its a mutually beneficial relationship. Trying a new fitness routine on your own? He will advise you on what is best for you. About to make a grave nutritionally sabotaging mistake, he will talk you off the ledge. Like the old adage "the harder I work, the luckier I get" rings true, the motivation and support Rob offered me brought immediate results, a positive mindset and a realistic expectations. Its not all sunshine and unicorns by any stretch of the imagination. Rob holds you accountable. He doesn't let you cheat on your reps. He is not distracted by shiny objects. I'm really fascinated by trapeze and aerial silks lately, but didn't have enough ab and upper-body strength to be able to do what I wanted to do. I figured what I needed to do was to get strong before I decided to hang by my feet 20-feet above the ground. Rob watched a video of what I wanted to do and created a customized training plan to help me meet my, admittedly unusual, goals. He went beyond meeting my stated goals, and pointed out a lot of areas that I'd overlooked. Not only that, but his very specific instructions about form helped me to get the most out of my time and make sure I didn't get hurt. There's a reason people go to trainers instead of just getting a generic fitness plan off the interweb. A good trainer can help you adjust your form and make sure you really do work out your whole body. A great trainer can tailor something to your exact goals and give you what you need to get there. My experience with personal trainers before I worked with Rob: -Arrogant -Dismissive -Pushy -Food-ignorant (you want me to eat what???) -Knowledge-Challenged I was hesitant to work with Rob because recent experiences with trainers had left me injured and gun shy. I wasn't about to start working with trainers at my gym, which seemed to have a revolving-door policy with their staff. But I needed to restart my training - a broken heart and an ailing back were my incentives - and I knew that Rob was the go-to trainer for a few of my friends. Before Rob would even agree to see me, however, he insisted on learning more about my back condition. He didn't want to take my case unless he felt that he could adequately train around my injuries (a congenital condition that impacts nearly 5% of the population). After talking to a few other people and researching the range of exercises that I could do, he agreed to work with me. I appreciated that he did his due diligence before starting our training. My last trainer kept pushing me into exercises which hurt my back and kept me out of the gym for weeks. Rob knew to avoid those exercises and introduced new ones to help strengthen all the muscle groups involved in my condition. After a month I had both regained strength around my core and thinned down by a few inches without compromising my food-centric lifestyle. Rob, as it turns out, is also a passionate foodie, and we spent a number of our sessions - between sets, of course - talking about food and local restaurants. Rob is a walking encyclopedia of Chicago restaurants and has many of his favorites on speed dial. When he finds a place that interests him, he usually gets to know the people who work there and has deep knowledge of their product. Rob has, unsurprisingly, never told me to cut anything out of my diet - but he knows I wouldn't listen to him even if he did. I've worked with a number of personal trainers in my time but Rob is, hands down, the best of them. He keeps things interesting without compromising the quality of the workout. After being on Yelp for almost three years, I really had some time to think about what my 100th review would be. After much thought, debate, and late night pondering while watching re-runs of Will & Grace...I chose Mr. Robert Lekan. Oh yes. I did. Ladies watch out, this man is a monster. But I mean this in the most loving sort of way. He's a gym monster. What does that mean? Well look at his picture. His pecks alone could tear you to shreds. When I first told Rob that I was signed up for the Chicago Marathon '08 he told me that he would help me train for it. Never before had I worked out with a handsome beefed up guy before, so I have to admit I was a bit intimidated. But don't let the bald head, big pecks, and the eyebrows scare you. This man is a sweetheart. But beware---if you don't do what he asks, he'll make you do more squats and lunges than you really wanted to do. (Personal experience...) And no complaining either... "Oh Jessie, what was that? 10 more then, please." During my training Rob whispers sweet nothings about my back, arms, legs, and abs. He tells me what I'm doing, how to do it correctly, and not to stop. He keeps me going that guy. At 8:15 a.m. it is nice to know that I've got a helping hand to explore what my body can really do. I plan to continue on my training with Rob. I can't see any other trainer in my life. I would never cheat on him. Even though he leaves me after an hour for someone else...But that smile makes me forget all about everyone else while I'm sweating away the garbage I may or may not have put in my mouth. It's really hard to find a good personal trainer let alone an awesome one like Rob. Rob is exactly how all the previous reviews describe him - empathetic, compassionate, trust-inspiring, passionate, methodical and well researched. (Finally reviews that are accurate!) If you are looking for a great trainer that will work with you and your individual situation to help you achieve the change you are looking for... Rob is the man. You need to simply trust the reviews and his process. So instead of focusing on describing him as person, I am going to share my experience with training him. I decided to hire a personal trainer to help me get my body back in shape and regain the strength I have lost over the past 12 months. The past 12 months have been some of the toughest and most emotionally challenging times in my life. Prior to this year, I have always been an athlete - basketball, marathons, bodybuilding, mountaineering, gym... you name it - I did it. But not this year. No matter how hard I pushed or tried over the year I could not get into a consistent training program due to fatigue, pain, lack of motivation...etc. That was until I met Rob. During our first assessment, I presented Rob a vision of what I wanted to achieve. He listened , then observed my movements and developed a training approach just for me. This approach was not what I expected but it was exactly what I needed (and yes - there was some resistance on my part since it was 'different'). Rob helped me accept where I was physically and show me a more intuitive way to train 'my' body and self. Once I accepted that I was unique and I could workout smarter not harder - I started to achieve results. I continue to work with Rob weekly and maintain a pain free, consistent and rewarding training program. We have achieved great results and a level of happiness within my training that was missing. I actually look forward to my workouts with Rob- that is saying a lot... Rob is the best mix of "Meat-head-gonna-break-you" and a laid-back, intuitive friend. I'm not athletic, but he's never made me feel intimidated or overwhelmed about working out. His approach has been VERY helpful for me as a beginner. He listens, gives tips, and is always staying in-tune with my verbal and non-verbal signals so that I don't hurt my knees, back, or let's face it... throw up. Since I'm trying to get fit for my wedding and borderline panicking, he even looked over my food diary to help me out- what a doll. Besides all that sensitive mushy stuff, Rob can really kick my butt. Just when I'm about to get used to a series of exercises or a degree of sweat/ soreness, Rob kicks it up a notch with something to put me in check. He's very sneaky about weaving his "no-nonsense" or "5 more" attitude into friendly banter. He always hears the "What's?!" and "Oh-no's" that I muster under my breath... and then he flashes a grin that I've learned to love and fear at the same time, haha. 5 stars for trainer Rob! read more

Oh Rob, where do I even begin!? If you're looking for an in-your-face, give me 300 push ups in 1 minute kinda trainer, this is not your guy. Rob knows what he's doing. He's got a total mind-body connection that most trainers over look. He gets it. He knows that everything is all connected to each other. That's why I think he's one of the best out there. While yes, losing weight is one of my goals, feeling BETTER is the ultimate goal of mine. Rob does an incredible job of just that--taking what you have and improving it to make you feel better, both mentally and physically. Rob starts out by assessing your body--breathing, build, composition and ailments. He listens to what you have to say, but more importantly teaches you HOW to listen to what your body is saying to you. He knows when to push you, but is well aware of the messages your body is sending out (he's got body ESP--he KNOWS when you're hurting, so don't lie to him!). He gives you homework, but guess what, it's not what you think. It's to strengthen what you need to work on. Not 100 sit-ups. He knows what the ultimate scope-and-sequence is, not just short term you'll look great for summer and it's over. Rob checks in on eating habits, but doesn't make you feel bad for splurging on a birthday/special holiday/etc. One bad day is one bad day--put it behind you, lace up, and get back to work is his philosophy. That to me makes a whole lot more sense than screaming at you and telling you that you'll be paying for it during the session. Hey, that kinda style doesn't even work on kids--and he gets that adults would just roll their eyes and walk away. Another major plus is that he's constantly continuing education to improve his practice. Being a teacher, that means a lot to me, because he's got mega goals for his future, and being one of his clients, that certainly benefits me. He loves to learn, and it reflects in his practice. I've had the pleasure of training with Rob since June of last year - and really has been a complete pleasure. After months of searching, and going through 3 different trainers that I absolutely hated, I finally came to Yelp and found Rob. At the time, he had 18 reviews I think and they were all 5 star, so I thought that either he is awesome, or he has 18 great friends. As it turns out - Rob is THE BEST. Stop reading reviews for trainers, and call Rob. I wanted someone who was going to be serious about me, not checking out women in the gym, or texting, and basically not even paying attention to what I was doing. I did not want a babysitter, or for someone to sit around and tell me to do the same lame exercises I could have thought of myself. Rob is exactly what you want in a personal trainer. He's like your bff who happens to kick your ass into shape, and you kind of wish your sister would date. He's ridiculously thorough, and detail oriented. He watches you and make sure your form is near perfect, or he'll correct it for you. He actually pays attention to his clients, and listens to your goals and issues. Oddly enough, that seems to be rare quality in a trainer. Rob is very inventive in his exercises, and keeps a good mix going so I never get bored. He even changed things up during my tri season to account for my crazy cardio schedule. Again, he ACTUALLY LISTENS to his clients. Sadly, I am having some financial issues and have started seeing Rob less, but as soon as that gets straightened out, I am coming back full force. You can't find the best trainer ever and let him go, so I will defintely be back. Oh, and one more thing, Rob also ends each session with a hug. No, not a pervy, copping a feel hug. More like a you-did-so-great-today hug. I don't hug. I am not touchy feely in the least. There are people I have been friends with for years that I don't hug. I've been trying to get fit for over 10 years. I the past I didn't know what I was doing, I'd sit on whatever machine that was available do a few weights about 10 to 15 times and move to the next. Unfortunately, I worked out as much as 3 to 4 times a week I got by, but there were no results. Now I've been going to Rob for almost a year and he has given me a plan. The "plan" is customized for me and over time the plan changes to meet new goals. The results are evident. Even my wife says my body is looking good. And to me that's worth five stars. I've been going to Rob for the past couple of months with the goal of getting in shape for my wedding. The thing that stands out the most about Rob in comparison to other trainers that I have been to is that he TRULY cares about you and your body. I have really bad knees and he has worked with me to improve my knees and alter exercises so as to not hurt them anymore. In the past, other trainers would just put me through the same old routine as everyone else without concern for my individual needs or goals. Rob has also given me a routine that I can utilize when I am working out on my own. He has made me feel 100% comfortable and positive about my body instead of being judgemental. He is extremely supportive, as well as being tough and knowledgeable. He makes sure you do everything correctly so that you won't injure yourself and I realized that I had been using many machines totally the wrong way for years! Ready for Round 2 ... That's how Rob and I greeted each other at the start of my 11th week of training. (I loved the first 10 weeks so much, I signed on for another 10.) I never knew that I could enjoy fitness so much. Rob always keeps it interesting and I never know what I'll be doing from week to week but, what I do know is, that this man knows his stuff. Almost a year later and I recently had to stop training with Rob, and I miss it. Despite going once a week, once I got my life in order and myself on track, I looked forward to it. At Hi-Fi, it's trainers & clients and I knew going in who I was looking to speak with. Not once did I ever regret my decision. Sometimes it's hard to stay motivated when you aren't seeing instant results. I had my moments, especially when life would get in the way and I couldn't push myself. However, I still remember every great session I had where I left feeling like I could do anything. Those sessions alone were worth it. Rob has a way of making time fly, lending an ear when you need one and making you sweat all at the same time. I mentioned before that I started out slow and just the other day I noticed my body naturally doing something it couldn't do when I first started training. Now that I'm back to doing this "on my own", I'm really glad I invested the time I did because now when I'm at the gym, I know what I'm doing and I'm doing it properly. Hopefully my situation will change and I can go back, but in the meantime, I'll take what I've learned and continue getting back to the old me. I've never stuck with any gym or training program for longer than a week. I join, I go once, and then I pretty much give up because I'm sore, or the gym is out of the way, or because, let's face it, I'm pretty lazy. Yet I've been training with Rob for a month now. What's the difference? Part of it is me committing to getting healthier, but the biggest part of it is Rob. He's so great to work with, and puts up with my whining and pouting with good humor. He's great to chat with, and is very reassuring when a perfectionist like me can't get things right on the first... or third try. He challenges me, and hopefully most of the time I rise to it (even if I'm groaning while I do it.) If you're looking for a trainer, I can't more highly recommend Rob. If he can get a slacker like me to commit to 10 training sessions AND actually motivate me into working out on my own? He can probably get you going too. read more

If you were to steal my phone and look in my weekly calendar, you would see an entry titled "STR." What does that mean, you ask? My weekly torture session with Satan Trainer Rob, a nickname born out of love and fear. But don't let the nickname scare you off - he may be satan when he's putting you through a circuit, but the guy has a heart of gold. I've been seeing Rob off and on for 5 years now (whoa, 5 years?!), and I can honestly say that I am a better person for knowing him. Not just in the gym, but in life. He has taught me so much, and during the times I wasn't training with him he was in my head. I used everything he taught me every time I stepped into my gym, and I still do. (He's like the little angel and devil on your shoulder, always there...) I look forward to our workouts every week, and he slowly but surely pushes me out of my comfort zone, even if I don't like it. He calls me out if he can tell I'm just going through the motions. He switches things up and keeps them interesting, which is great because I get bored very quickly in the gym. And over the years I've even come to enjoy the squats and lunges I was previously "allergic" to (must have been that Claritin Rob recommended!). I'm shocked he hasn't strangled me with TRX strap for whining, but you know what? Even if I'm miserable doing whatever new torture he is making me do - I get through it. Because if I've learned anything from Rob over the last five years, it's to keep at it, don't give up, and even if it takes forever, I can and will conquer it. Quite simply, he believes in me, even when I may not believe in myself. Our** recent achievements: Rob helped bring me back from the dead after a surgery left my abs useless, and two long years later I can now do core exercises without being in crippling pain the next day. (Now I'm only crippled when he intentionally wants me to be.) Over the last year I've lost over 40 pounds (and counting). **I say "our" achievements because Rob isn't going to do the work for you. He won't lose the weight for you. But he'll teach you all you need to know to get yourself there, and he will cheer you on every step of the way. Who could ask for anything more? read more

I have been training with Rob twice a week for about 7 months now and making the decision to do so has changed my life. With Rob's help I have lost over 40 pounds and was reintroduced to a level of fitness I have not had for years. It's hard to add on to the praise Rob's gotten from his other clients, but seeing as how it was their reviews that led me to him, I'll do my best! Rob is an empathetic, compassionate, trust-inspiring trainer. I had only worked out with one other trainer in the year before returning to Chicago, and I wasn't sure what I would find coming back home and picking someone at random. I'm beyond lucky it was Rob! I'm no stranger to working out, but staying on track with balancing my work/travel schedule, as well as diet and my emotional state, has kept me from achieving my goals in the past. Rob's flexibility, understanding, and laser focus on what would be best for ME, and not just what works for other people, has made the last 4 months working out with him an absolute pleasure! This is my third review/update for Rob, and he totally deserves it! I worked out with Rob for just over three years and enjoyed (almost) every minute of it. (Be careful about telling him you're feeling good and have a lot of energy - he'll take full advantage of that and you'll be feeling it the next day!) I only stopped going to Rob because I relocated to San Francisco. One of the first things I did out here was find a new trainer, and that had everything to do with Rob. Three years ago, I would never have bothered seeking out a gym, let alone a personal trainer. Rob helped me to develop a real desire to work out, which I never thought was possible. I was incredibly nervous to start with a new trainer here and feared he or she would be nothing like Rob. I was concerned I'd end up training with a drill sergeant who wouldn't really listen or respond to my needs. Fortunately, my new trainer seems to have a pretty similar style to Rob. He's been very impressed with my posture and form (all of which I owe to Rob) and keeps telling me my previous trainer did a really excellent job with me and that it must have been difficult to leave him. It was! But, we're still friends (I'm not sure you can train with Rob and not become his friend - he's so caring and earnest). There is a reason that every review for Rob to date is a 5 star one. Simply put, he is that talented at what he does. And this is saying a lot, as Rob does not do just one "thing". He takes an integrated approach to training, which along with creating a plan to aid you in meeting your goals includes coaching, ongoing education, awareness around movement and your body, neuromuscular work, and various other strategies and tactics. For me, he also serves as a support system, fine dining guide, and part-time therapist - all of which he does not have to do, yet he goes the extra mile to ensure that you always have what you need to focus on your goals and improve your overall health and well being. I found Rob from his reviews, made an apt. to discuss my goals, learned immediately that he was perceptive as he was thoughtful, and hitched myself to his wagon from that day on. What about Rob?!?! What Bill Murray is to comedy, Rob Lekan is to fitness. Long story short, I have tried all types of different classes, gyms and fitness routines. None of them were sustainable with my physically demanding job, hectic schedule and previous injuries. Going to Rob was my last ditch effort before retiring to a life of Netflix and men's XXL sweatpants. Rob really took the time to listen and understand where I have been, where I am and where I want to go. He treats you like a unique individual and helps you workout the way that works best for your body. After a handful of sessions with Rob, I had less pain and more energy to enjoy my life. Normally I just want to crawl into be after work, but now I actually have the energy to live life after 5 pm. When signing up for a personal trainer, I totally expect to have the crap beaten out of me and to be so sore I could barely walk. Rob is totally different than other trainers. I felt good since session #1 and continue to feel less and less "stuck" in my old habits. Highly recommend. What can I say that hasn't been said already. Outstanding personal trainer. I have never been one to work out much. The only exercise I used to get was through playing soccer/tennis on the weekends and that was good enough for me. However, I recently decided to shape up; looked for personal trainers online and found Rob. Rob really listens to what you want out of every work out and trains you accordingly. He doesn't overwhelm you with a tough workout regimen that makes you lose interest; instead, he pushes you to workout more without killing your spirit. His emphasis is on you understanding how your body works, so that you focus on getting your everyday movement, posture, and form right. He notices when a workout is not going well for you, and changes things up to prevent any long term fitness problems/injuries. He's also not the kind of guy who just yells at you and tells you what to do. He seems to know something about everything, so you always have really interesting conversations with him every workout, so you look forward to training every week. It's been 3 months since I started the training and I have gained 12 pounds. I had to re-check my weight just to confirm that the scales weren't lying to me. Rob made my legs quiver and I am gonna be sore for the next 2 days. But that is a good thing I can admit publicly, because he is a personal trainer. This is Rob L., of Yelp Pectoral Fame (which is good self-advertising for him). Rob does in home traning or out of HiFi Fitness (on North by Sheffield). I had my session at Hi-Fi, which is a straight-forward come-here-to-work-out-here kind of place, which is perfect to focus on the workout tasks at hand. Rob asked me about any health issues, and then asked me what my goals were, which I think is important. We saw eye-to-eye on the focus being health, not a number on a scale. I was looking to find a strength training program I can do out of my home or wherever I am, so I can stick with it and do it when/where convenient. He stressed proper form--which earned him bonus points with me, because too many times around a gym I have seen people use improper form, and that is just an injury waiting to happen. Plus, Rob is such a good guy, it was an enjoyable hour that passed quickly. Rob's rates are very reasonable, and he also offers a team session if you want to workout with a friend. I will absolutely be training again with Rob in the future. If you want to be stronger and healthier, you should too! read more

I met Rob at a time when there was a lot of change in my life. I was struggling with how to navigate the uncertainty. Initially, I was seeing Rob to build strength and endurance. One day, I came in for training on a particularly bad day. I have been battling depression for over a decade and Rob could recognize that I wasn't myself. He consoled me and made me feel like I could trust him with my feelings. After that session, we expanded the scope of the sessions and he has been helping me to deal with my emotions in a constructive way. I was about to move from Colorado, where I had been my whole life, to Oregon, where I don't know anyone. I had a breakdown while visiting Oregon before the move. Almost immediately, I messaged Rob. He was one of the only people I felt like I could talk to. He helped me through the transition of my move while I was very emotionally unstable. Working with him, I have felt more calm and ready to deal with tough situations. I continue to work with Rob to this day, 1,200 miles away. I have been working with Rob for almost a year now and he's amazing. I have had lower back/hip issues that were beginning to present in my knees also and every time I see him they get better and better. I have had significantly longer stretches of experiencing no daily pain after each of our sessions. He very subtly adjusts your joints and goes with the flow of your body so it never feels like too much!
