I'm a woman in my early thirties. I have always enjoyed lifting weights and working out, but it was really hard to stay consistent with my busy work life. I wanted a trainer who would keep me accountable, but who was also knowledgeable about barbell lifting and who wouldn't have me lifting 2lb pink dumbbells and cutting a bunch of calories. Now that I've been working with Scott 2x/wk, I've been much more consistent, even when I work out on my own, and I feel much better in so many ways. Our sessions are an hour long and based on my goals (fat loss and strength gains) we do two big lifts plus a ~5-10min cross-fit type session for cardio. When you start working with Scott, he sits down with you to understand what your fitness goals are and to discover what the deeper reasons why those goals are important to you. Every month we revisit those goals and track progress in terms of weight, body fat percentage, and amount of strength gained. It feels great to continually see my strength improve week-to-week, and I've lost body fat, too. The thing I'm probably most proud of is my PR on deadlifts of 230lbs for 5reps Scott is highly educated on the basic barbell lifts and has helped me improve my form and consequently be able to lift more than I ever thought I could! One thing I was really nervous about was aggravating an old lower back injury (and developing new injuries), but I haven't had any problems AT ALL, even though I'm lifting waaaay heavier than I ever have before. This is huge to me since injuries not only tend to sideline me during healing/recovery, but also get me out of the habit of working out in general. Scott's attention to my form and the use of lots of warm-up sets all help prevent these problems. Scott has a wide variety of interests outside of lifting, and we have great conversations between sets. He always asks me how my life and work are going; it's clear he really cares about getting to know his clients on a personal level. And, a special plug to the women out there: Don't be afraid of lifting heavy weights! Barbells aren't just for meatheads and you won't get "bulky" training with Scott. Rather, you'll put on lean muscle and kick up your metabolism without spending hours doing cardio (which, let's be honest, you don't have time for and just makes you hungrier and more worn out anyway). Best of all, you'll have much more functional strength that you can use in your daily life. Additionally, one thing I really appreciate about working with Scott, especially as a woman, is that he is very professional and respectful. Prior to training with Scott, I had been training consistently on my own for about 15 years. Everything I knew about weight lifting was learned from books, online forums, articles, youtube videos, and podcasts. I thought I knew quite a bit about weight lifting, and felt that I had consulted many different sources. I spent quite a bit of time and effort learning, but also felt like I was learning something new every year. Instead of spending even more time trying to become an expert on my own, why not take and use the expertise of someone who's already done this themselves? I felt like I've gotten as far as I could on my own, and needed some professional guidance. Scott is open to explaining details and being challenged; I like to understand the what and why, and haven't had any issues with Scott's explanations. My experience with Scott has been very positive. I have been training with Scott for just over 3 months, and the results speak for themselves - for example, my squat has increased from 185 lbs to 255 lbs (3 sets of 5 reps). Scott has helped tremendously with correcting my form, providing real-time cues, and programming for load/sets/reps/exercises/splits. Each session with Scott is personally tuned for my workload and my current state. Scott is a pleasure to talk to as I'm resting between sets, and I look forward to all of my work out sessions. I am a 25 y/o engineer for Amazon. I was a former D1 athlete but had a shoulder reconstruction towards the end of college. After a few years of prolonged shoulder pain, I "gave up" on working out for a couple years and was not taking good care of myself. After deciding to get back to a healthy lifestlye, I began looking for a trainer to help improve my well-being and strength, while remaining cautious about my shoulder. When looking for a PT, I was most interested in their attention-to-detail and how they deal with prior injuries. His positivity and energy are contagious, and he truly cares about my development, making the workouts enjoyable. I've been working with Scott for just over 3 months now and I'm extremely pleased with what we've accomplished so far. During that time we've been training 2 times per week for weightlifting workouts, and Scott also put together a diet and cardio plan for me to cover non-training days. I've been checking in daily with him to help nail down the new habits, and that's been exactly the extra accountability I've needed to stick to the plan. He's even offered to act as an "accountability buddy" and help me check in on other, non-fitness habits I've been working to establish. The monthly check-ins (weight, bodyfat, and physical measurements) are nice for putting numbers to the gains I was feeling, but the primary benefits for me have been the intangibles. My results have progressed more quickly than I expected. As of the 3-month check in, my body fat is down, I've gained 15 lbs, body measurements are trending in the correct direction, and my working weights for lifts continue to get heavier. Even more so than the quantitative gains, the intangible ones have meant even more to me. My self-confidence has improved, and I am happier when I look in the mirror; my body feels stronger and more useful; and back pain has essentially gone away with my increase in core strength. I'm lucky that I live only 5 blocks from Scott's place, but my decision to start working with him has been transformative for me. It's felt to me that Scott cares about what he does and is invested in me and my health on a personal level. Hello my name is Crystal and I am a single of 4 children, I am 33 years old. I started paying more attention to my help about 2 years ago. Then my main goal was losing weight as I have been over weight since a teenager. First I focused on cardio and some weight lifting. Starting at 220 lbs 11/2018 I was able to get down to 182lbs in 01/2020 slow progress but able to keep the weight off. Shortly after that I did gain back about 10 lbs in 06/2020 I weighed 192 lbs because I was no longer working out at all. It was around that time I started looking for a trainer to help me and also my mindset went from losing weight to getting stronger. The biggest benefits I have seen from my strength coaching are: I feel a lot stronger than before because I can now lift heavier things and even with my training I started at low weights and have moved up a lot in weight, lifting weight I never thought I could or would be lifting. Although I am active, I never really considered weight training to be something that I would be interested in. I've always concentrated more on cardio type exercise and up until now I have never worked with a coach. After my wife started weight training with Scott, she offered to introduce us and suggested that I try it out. Being in my mid-50s I was not expecting any miracles. I went into it as an experiment, and I am very pleased with both Scott as a trainer and the improvements that I have experienced. Over the past three months of working with Scott I have experienced improvements not only in strength but also quality of life in many areas. Better fitting clothes and everyday movement being easier are just a couple of the improvements that I have noticed. Before starting Scott's program, I would occasionally have back and knee pain, and since gaining strength these problems have greatly subsided. I have better range of movement and just feel better overall. Scott's coaching style is persistent but not overbearing. He is there to remind me when I miss a workout or do an exercise incorrectly but never comes across as heavy handed. He is very helpful in steering me the right way when it comes to the mechanics of lifting. He understands the best and most efficient way to do a particular exercise and will explain that to me, rather than just telling me the how without the why. I've gained so much confidence in the gym that I never had before thanks to Scott. As a recent second time mom I reached out to Scott as soon as I had the clear from my doctor at 6 weeks post partum.  I was very motivated to not only lose the baby weight but to get in better shape than I had been before that, I just wasn't very sure on how best to go about it.  I specifically wanted to focus on weight training and was looking for a coach to train me on correct form, something that I had always been unsure about and a big part of why I had never really lifted weights before.  I also didn't want to guess at putting together a program myself, I wanted an optimized program that would get me results without wasting time. I grew up dealing with some serious body dysmorphia that stemmed from a birth defect that I was born with called pectus excavatum- a concaved chest. To add to it I've always been a pretty skinny guy. I hated my body growing up and would do anything to hide my body from others, never really taking my shirt off or going to swimming pools without crossing my arms over my chest. As a result, I have not had much confidence when it comes to my body as an adult. I recently started strength training at Scott Beall Fit. In the past 10 months I've had total knee replacement surgery on both knees (and I'm only in my mid 50's). I wanted to rebuild strength in my legs and core/back, so I contacted Scott for help. I am amazed at how deep of a squat I can do in just a few weeks with Scott. I could not have reached this level on my own; Scott's encouragement in the gym absolutely helped me. I am soon to be 79 and have been working with Scott for 9 years to keep me on a schedule and to avoid injuring myself. These things were accomplished right away. Through training with Scott, I've learned that strength training does good things for your heart, brain, joints and just about everything else (that you do not get from running type exercise). I am still learning how complex and sophisticated strength training taught by a expert is and how the results amplify as technique is mastered. Advancing training and not just doing the same thing all the time is another key concept I have been taught. Talk about sleep pattern, nutrition, a optimistic life view, music and many other things that come up during training appointments adds to the experience. I've been working with Scott for about a year now and have been incredibly impressed with my experience and the progress I've made with him!
