Not good. Unacceptable. Sweet potato fries were cold.

Told them the fries were cold and they still charged us for them as well as an up charge because they were sweet potatoes fries.

Unfortunately I was under whelmed with almost everything. We were a party of 7 with a reservation so we were seated pretty quickly. Everything took very long. There was a problem with their C02 for the drinks and they kept making loud noises trying to fix it which I understand they had to fix. Then the other guy came back cursing asking what was going on. It took so long for our food to come out. We spent over 2 hours in the restaurant, most of the time waiting. Also we were not told that gratuity was already included so our waitress was tipped twice. The oysters I ordered were barely edible, they were not cleaned and poorly shucked so they had all kinds of shell fragments in the oyster itself. The crab cakes that I had were ok. My entire party kind of felt the same way about the restaurant.

We used to come to Etta's and this was my first time here since it switched to the Pearl - we came for breakfast and were super disappointed. We were the only group in the restaurant and they seemed to be out of everything. They forgot an order and it was messed up when it was finally brought out. The eggs and potatoes were not great. Definitely needs some improvement!

I am surprised about the bad reviews but I am also a 1st timer here so I am not comparing it to anything else. You definitely have to know that it is on Chincoteague because it was more of a drive there then anywhere else. Beautiful views. Looks like an outside bar. Inside is a restaurant side and a bar side. They did have live music on Saturday night. Gena was our server and she was AMAZING and deserves 10 stars. Why? She came to our table of 5 and was upfront and honest and said she was the only one working the floor AND bar. She was bartending AND waitressing!! I don't know who made the decision to allow that but it wasn't the best decision....even if it wasn't busy. And we were there early....maybe 6:30 pm. But like I said she was awesome. Service was slow but friendly. I believe I got the Mahi handheld. It was very good. My friend has a gluten allergy and Gena was very helpful and accommodating. I would definitely come back to this restaurant when I return.

I feel like I have given a lot of 5 Star reviews over this past weekend but this one may be the best of all of them! The Pearl is a new restaurant right on the water on Chincoteague Island. The location is easy to find. The view when you walk into the restaurant will blow you away! We were seated promptly. They had just opened for dinner and were already packed with customers. We had expected a wait and there was a bit of a wait for drink orders because there was a large table ahead of us but trust me the food was worth any wait! I started with the Fried Green Tomatoes and they were perfection! My husband ordered the Soup which was a Crab and Corn Chowder and he had to fight me off it LOL! It was so creamy and delicious! I want the recipe! They also bring out bread and hush puppies to munch. For entrees I ordered the NY Strip with a Garden Salad and Mashed Potatoes. My steak was temped med rare as requested and well seasoned. The mash was well prepared and the Blood Orange Vinaigrette on the salad was so delicious. My husband ordered the Lamb Chops, also temped med rare, his first time having them and he loved them! I ordered a Malbec, the perfect accompaniment to my steak and my husband ordered a couple of Orange Crushes which were refreshing and well balanced. We didn't save room for dessert but will plan that for next time. The only issue we found was the servers have to leave the main dining room to go to the bar next door for cocktails and that can be a bit of a long wait especially on a busy night and I imagine throws a wrench into their service. Once all the kinks are worked out this place is going to soar!!!

Just doing the bar side tonight. Live music, Great really and the best breeze off the bay! . Limited selections for gluten-free, but there are 5 out of 15 so 30% isn't bad i guess Would be a perfect place to have a mimosa and watch the pony swim!! Spicy fries, delish pups and clams!

It's a very simple storefront - some fresh produce outside, right by the parking area, and then just an open façade for walking in to purchase the seafood. It's a bit tight inside, but the folks are friendly and welcoming and there was never really much of a line to order seafood. If you want crabs, order ahead of time so you can tell them exactly when you're going to want them ready. When I arrived to pick up my dozen male crabs, they were steaming hot. They were reasonably priced. Some of the seafood is super local, others they get from the mainland. I opted for some Chincoteague oysters which were so deliciously briny and fresh. The crabs were also locally and recently caught. Sometimes you gotta be ready to buy what's been caught, you know? That being said, I also enjoyed our rockfish that they had purchase for selling. Maybe next time I'll get some of the clams too. While the main draw is the local fresh seafood, they do sell a few other items like local hot sauces, seasonings, and even equipment like crab mallets and oyster knives (which was good, because my rental property didn't have one and I didn't want to shell out $20 extra to have my oysters pre-shucked). Next time I'm staying on Chincoteague, I will be ordering from Ricky's. Highly recommended!

Chincoteague oysters are clean tasting, very briny, and super tender. I just had it with a generous squeeze of lemon and that's all I needed. I will dream of those oysters, seriously. The grilled flounder was fresh, but a little under seasoned. It would have been A+ if it had been generously salted before grilling (adding salt at the table just isn't the same). BTW, a flounder platter has three filets - so I'd recommend sharing. The sides were also generously portioned. (Onion rings will make you happy.) We had a great server, we were glad we visited during low season because I bet this place is PACKED when tourists are around.

Maybe we'd come back to try something else, but probably we'd just leave this joint for the locals and check out another place. What we got: Cream of crab soup - 4* the best thing of the night. It was delicious and I wish it came with a buttered piece of bread I could dip in it. Coconut shrimp basket - 3* the shrimp are very coconut-y and I realized I just didn't love that. It came with 6 pieces of shrimp, way too many fries (they were only mediocre), 2 delicious hush puppies (best I've ever had), and 1 pickle (nice crunch). The coleslaw side was also good and had apples. Overall though I was disappointed that $17 got me a pretty unsatisfying dish. Fish and chips (friend flounder) - 3* average but nothing to write home about. Once again a lot of fries (obviously, it's a fish and chips meal) but they just weren't that good. The fish was alright as well, malt vinegar and lemon didn't jazz it up as much as was expected. The pickle, coleslaw, and hush puppies were the best part of the meal.

There is a small lot behind the restaurant. It was easy and there was plenty of parking since it was the off season. I did not have a reservation but, I was seated as a party of one pretty quick. The tables were draped with white table cloths, a nice table side light, sweeteners, tall clear glasses with a black napkin and tall salt and pepper shakers. The walls were a darker and lighter gray, hues of black and whites scattered throughout. I was in love with the old photos and the black and white prints throughout. There was a stunning glass sculpture hanging from the center of the dining room. It maybe a Chihuly glass chandelier. If it is not it resembles it. Hues of amber, orange and whites. My waitress came over within a few minutes and took my drink order. She informed me of the specials and brought over some bread, butter and herbed oil. I just had to try the cream of crab. On the menu it states it's a tight lipped recipe. The cream of crab was delicious. They have done their own spin on it. It came out piping hot. It had a slight kick to it, as if there was some sort of pepper in it... jalapeño? Could just be regular ground pepper. Overall, it was pretty good. My meal came with a choice of salad. It was either a garden salad, Caesar salad or tropical salad. I ordered the garden salad with ranch dressing. The salad was ok. Nothing to rave about. It had shoestring carrots, two cherry tomatoes and 2-3 types of lettuce. It did the job. I had the waitress choose my main dish for me. I could not decide. It was between the stuffed shrimp (stuffed with crab imperial), or the crab cakes. I opted for the vegetable of the day which was green beans. My waitress surprised me with stuffed shrimp, broiled. I'm so glad she went with the broiled vs fried option. She said it was the best way to go. The crab imperial was creamy and flavorful. The shrimp were a little on the smaller side. It was a busy night (our waitress apologized, explaining that they had two 12-tops and that was the main reason things were going slowly). We ordered the children's food first hoping it would come out sooner, but even that took a while. The tapas menu seems to change a bit, and we got the Crispy Hot Honey Oysters. They were perfectly done with just the right amount of crust on top of a just-cooked oyster. Child #2 devoured them and declared that he loves fried oysters (and he had never had them before here). They sadly had run out of the scallop ceviche and nothing else was grabbing us so we went with the main menu. My wife got a Chicken So-Cal, which has mashed avocado, lettuce, tomato, and chipotle aioli; basic, but she liked it. I got the Baja Fish Tacos (2), which that night was flounder. Pretty straightforward fried fish taco - a nice crema and cabbage with lime was a good meal. Child #1 is a vegetarian and we came here for the solid options available. While he opted for a simple cheese quesadilla from the kids' menu, we also got a Captain Jack, which is a jackfruit-based vegetarian take on the Kalua Pork sandwich. It had a nice shred to it and a little sweetness from the pineapple. Definitely recommended. Child #2 has never met a burger he didn't like and the kids' menu burger was surprisingly large. Fries and sweet potato fries were standard and good. There is an extensive wine list with a lot of sauvignon blancs on the whites list. I got one that was very well described on the list, right down to identifying notes of gooseberry. It went well with my tacos. They also offer several local beers as well as domestic options. I saw someone getting cocktails at the bar, but the menu offered to us didn't include any of those options; I might have preferred a cocktail, but oh well. Our waitress was kind and attentive. It was a bit slow due to lots of other folks, but that wasn't her fault. The prices were reasonable for a beach town.
