She enjoyed spending time with them, petting, scratches and followed them around, the word velcro kitty was used one day. She was very well taken care of during her stay. She treats your dog as if he was her own and sends you daily updates (via email or text) with pictures, reassuring you that your dog is in great hands and doing well. Most recently, my dog Prince stayed with her for a week - the longest he's been away from home - and his birthday fell during that stay. She baked him the most adorable doggie cake for me to take home to celebrate when I got back, and also got him a Prince crown cookie with his name on it and sent me pics of him in a party hat! He also got a solo walk to PetSmart with Norm to pick his own toy, and an egg for breakfast - one of his favorite foods to eat! I am always blown away by how caring and loving they are and it makes me feel so much better if and when I have to travel, knowing that Prince is in good hands! I adopted him when he was 4 years old, and he had been owner surrendered at a shelter so the thought of boarding him at a kennel just made me so upset. I found her on Yelp and Prince has stayed with her 3 times so far, and I can't say enough great things about Samantha and Norm. 100% recommend them to anyone who wants a home away from home for their dog while they're away. She even checks in periodically, especially right after the stay, to check in on my pup and make sure he's doing well! And the first few visits, she even provided a wonderful take home bag with toys and homemade treats for Prince. So incredibly sweet and well priced. The only response I received was a single text saying they weren't accepting new boarders until May 1 and to fill out a request form...which I had already done multiple times. If you're too busy to take on new clients, that's completely understandable. But ignoring repeated outreach and sending a generic, unhelpful response isn't. Communication matters, especially when people are trying to make plans with real deadlines. They may be great with dogs, but based on this experience, I wouldn't rely on them if you expect professionalism or responsiveness.

Please don't make the same mistake I did by trusting them with your dog. It's scary to think they still have dogs in their care. They are not nearly as professional as they claim to be. The owner's response is unacceptable. Had I known my dog was in pain for five days while the prong collar was still being used incorrectly, I would've picked her up immediately. Calling an open wound like this "minor" is beyond wrong, she lost fur and skin. If they weren't properly trained to use the collar, that should've been made clear. This isn't about money, it's about preventing other dogs from suffering.

My sister and I got puppies about a month apart. One is a large breed and the other a toy breed…read more We live together and were really struggling to integrate the two pups and it was making life VERY difficult. We were afraid to let them be in the same room together due to the size difference - when they were in the same room, it was basically gladiator warfare! We chose to board and train them together with Justin for two weeks while we went on an overseas trip. We were absolutely shocked at the progress Justin made with them in a few short days. The pups are totally integrated and we are all finally able to relax in the same room together. Until Justin came along, we were sure this was going to be a forever issue. Aside from the integration, Justin really listened to what our concerns were for training and was able to address each and get us moving in the right direction. He approaches training with love and always with the intention of strengthening your bond with your dog and teaching how to behave so that your dog can live it's best life and have as many adventures with you as possible. It's evident that Justin loves his work and loves and really gets to know each dog. We got great updates every day on how things were going and what he was working on with them. He's also an amazing photographer and we have so many gorgeous puppy portraits that he took. Best decision we ever made to use Justin and Modern Dog to help us with our boys. We just got them back yesterday and they are already more calm, having loads more fun and happy boys!
