    Homemade made Lasagna

This is a very nice clean restaurant in Kinde, Michigan not far from Caseville, Michigan. The little town celebrates Polish days because it has a polish population. I always laugh because the town has a population of around 500 people so they might need to do some recruiting or Polish days might disappear eventually. LOL The polish platter has sausage and pirogies. I must admit i am not entirely sure what they eat because i have only seen a few Polish restaurants in Metro Detroit. The lasagna was excellent and on par with many of the big name Italian restaurants in Metro Detroit. A local produce stand we seen nearby with a cash box you pay for by leaving the money in a total self service business. Definitely couldn't do that in many places in Michigan. This is actually a pasta house and they serve pretty good Italian dishes and the pizza isn bad at all. You always have to remember when you are in a tiny town that its not Manhattan or Detroit and you are lucky a restaurant is even available. Definitely will go back and try more of the menu. People in small towns are so friendly and welcoming. Its a farming community and they couldn't be kinder.

Food is well prepared with great visuals and most importantly tastes great. Setting has a nice darker rustic comfy vibe to it with a large gas fired pizza oven going on one side with fresh and oh so tasty bread cooking away which adds a nice Italian accent to the setting. Restaurant also has a full service bar where my Old Fashioned was very well made and oh so tasty in its own right. Also just as important, especially for an Italian restaurant, they have a very nice wine list to choose from. Overall, if you are in the north eastern side of the state and your pallet leans towards fine cuisine than this is a must visit restaurant as you will not be disappointed.

I had the shrimp scampi. It came with 5 small shrimp. A ton of pasta, which the pasta and sauce were really good. But for $30+ I expect more than 5 measley shrimp! When I asked the waiter he said he would ask the chef. Came back and said 4-5 based on the size of the shrimp. The other entrees at our table were over cooked and dry. Like they had been sitting under a heat light for a while. Big bummer. No management to be seen. Which is sad for the wait staff to not have back up or support. Mediocre at best. For the money, not worth it.

We started the meal with calamari, which was lightly breaded (which is great) but in general the calamari were tough and rubbery. They should be sweet and tender. The sauce that came with the calamari was good. The Italian salad was a lnice mix of field greens and Kalamata olives with a tiny amount of shaved Parmesan and a pepperoncino. The meatballs are very "breadie", hence not good. The worst part they were served without sauce on top so they were grey and unappealing. Seriously...why? The wine list is good. Two of us had the mixed cheese Ravi's....with red sauce and they were tasty. One in our party had the stuffed shells with mixed fish which he enjoyed. Our fourth had a dish with white mushroom sauce which she really enjoyed. We all shared the lemonchello cake which was tasty. Our server was quite nice and friendly. The ambience was lovely. We sat outside under the grape arbors. Very Nice. In general the food was acceptable but not stellar for the reasons cited.

The interior of the restaurant is nice and suitable for a date night, special occasion, or work event. This time I had the Parmigiano di Coregone. I appreciated the crust on the whitefish filet, but the flavor was underwhelming. It needed extra seasoning (salt and pepper) to bring it up to par with the lemon-caper butter. The Costolette Brasate was too cheesy to the point where it consumed the taste of the slow roasted beef short rib. The calamari was the highlight of the night. Cocktails selection was good, with average strength. Service was a bit slow and I didn't expect that for a party of 10 on a Monday night. Overall 6/10.

I got the salmon Alfredo and my friend got the Fettucini Bologonese. There was a little blip as my Alfredo came out with shrimp instead of the salmon I ordered but it was rectified quite easily. We picked our food from a tablet that showed pictures and prices. The salad with cranberries.walnuts and gorgonozola cheese was very good. We were both pleased and were so hungry that I didn't take pictures. We had left early in the morning due to the weather to attend our early afternoon show. The sangria was also very good and I liked how it came in ready to pour individual bottles. We were offered a shot of lemon cello for the road but had to decline due to the 2 1/2 hour ride home. It was a good thing also as we had a few slick spots on the freeway on the way home. Thanks Gratzi for the wonderful dinner and in a rare case there was absolutely no leftovers.
