In Lexington we have Liquor Barn, Newport has The Party Source. It's a mega liquor and party supply store, located right off of the interstate, across from the river. I discovered this place while searching for breweries near the interstate, on my way back to Lexington. I was quite surprised to find out what later became one of my favorite breweries, was actually located in the back of a The Party Source. The Party Source has a massive selection of craft beers, cigars, bourbons, wine and much more. The prices are all cheaper than you'll find at most other places. You should still set a limit for yourself before you go into this place, or else you'll spend and end up with more than you probably should. I'll give it 5 Stars on selection, but really only 2.5 stars on pricing, so I'll split the difference and say 3.5. This has got to be the easiest 5 star review I will ever write (I will come back and edit that first sentence if I ever find an easier one, without telling you of course). The Party Source really thee source for all of your party needs. It is hard to start review at a specific area, just like the store itself, because there are so many aspects to The Party Source that make it what it is. When you first walk in you are immediately bombarded with everything they offer. The first thing that you see is the kitchen/dining room area. This area is where classes take place. Everything from cooking classes, to beer and wine tastings. Sign up for their newsletters for info on when and what is going on. Also, around this area are your party foods and such. They have a huge amount of awesome cheeses, dips, snacks and really anything that you would need to host a party. The prices are a tad (a small tad) more than a grocery but they also offer a wider variety than your regular grocery. Keep walking and you get your party favors, plates napkins, and doo-dads. After that, you get to the meat and potatoes of The Party Source. Close to 4-5 double aisles of wine may have you stunned and overwhelmed, but don't worry, the staff is very knowledgeable on the wines. Just tell them what you like, your price range and off they go like one of those Autotrader.com commercials, hand selecting for you what you would like most. The wines are sorted by area so even if you don't want or need help, it is easy to find what you are looking for. Right after the wine is your liquors and such. You are going to find your usual's, ranging from cheap to hundreds of dollars, whatever suits your fancy. The selection, again, may be overwhelming, but just ask those trusty employees and you'll be out the door in no time. Finally, what I love most is the huge selection of beer. The craft beer shelve runs the length of the store and if they don't have it...you don't need it because the selection is ridiculous. Of course you can get your domestics like Bud, Miller, and others either warm or chilled in their large walk in fridge. They really let you choose what exactly you want. Throw in the fact that they offer a huge choice of keg fills, am instant wine chiller, and other services not typically offered at a party store and you've got your one stop shop to any and all party problems. I am not a regular visitor to this wonderful place, and I know that if I had all the money in the world, I would have NO room in my house for everything I wanted to buy. I have attended a wine tasting here, which isn't the best idea. When you are a short person, even standing in the front of a crowd, you tend to be overlooked. The tastings would be SO much better if they were better organized as far as having people sit somewhere. Then the wine person could move around more easily. I have gone to their now no longer in business Eight Ball and liked many of those beers. On our last trip we were lucky enough to be approached by Eric. With a warm smile and an immediate acknowledgement of what we were looking for he guided us to two spectacular bottles. Going above and beyond, he also got to know us enough to find we don't live there and recommended a great restaurant for dinner. We actually ditched our reservations to go with his suggestion. What can I add except that this huge, super-sized liquor store with excellent prices also has cooking classes and sells cards and gifts! As you enter the store, past the specials, you find a well-stocked gift and home goods area with items like aprons, coasters, bookmarks, decorative kitchen ware, ceramics, and more. I love places I find by accident. A friend and I were looking for a place to try craft beers. I found Braxton Lab and was surprised it was connected to the Party Source. The craft beer at the lab was great but the Party Source was amazing. It had wine, spirits, party decorations, snacks and beer. A very nice selection of each but why I say amazing is the variety and depth of beer. Yes, they had common varieties but also, a large selection of craft from different regions of the USA, but let's not limit our selections to the US. Foreign beers were well represented from across the world. You could get overwhelmed with the varieties to chose from. The staff was well informed and helpful in finding something to your taste. I also liked that you could create your own six packs. They also don't stop at bottles or cans. I saw kegs available for the more hardy drinkers. Overall, Party Source looks like a one stop place for your party needs. I would love to go back and study the variety and types of spirits and wines, but that will have to wait for another visit. read more

They say they are the largest liquor store in the country and it definitely looks like. A huge variety of options when it comes to alcohol. Definitely, THE SOURCE for all your party needs besides just liquor - plates, glasses, decoration items and other basic stuff that goes along like juices, lemons etc. Besides all the branded mass produced liquor, they also bring some of the most local liquor. Especially, the beer collection at the right side of the store let's you try multiple local beers in the size you want, among the options available. And there is a machine where the cans are sealed right in front of you after the beer is filled. The wine collection is absolutely great with wines from all over the world. However, my favorite section of the store is the one where they have a huge collection of 50ml bottles of different liquors - rum, whiskey, scotch, gin, brandy, tequila, vodka, jagermeister and much more! It's a great way to try different alcohols from different brands and see which one works best to your taste. In addition, there is also a cigar store inside from where you can find some of the best cigars and other varieties. This is the first review I have ever written. I ordered bourbon for delivery. The wrong bourbon was delivered. I returned the bourbon and asked if the had what was in the picture. They asked a manager to help me. He said it was a typo on the website, and they would give me a refund. Just not a refund for the delivery fee and tip. Customer service wanted to make it write be the manager belittled her (who was awesome btw) and got loud with me. I killed him with kindness. This will be the last time I stop in TPS. Anytime I am in the Cincinnati area I have to stop at the party source. They have it all. I am a wine lover, beer drinker, cigar smoker, and home brewer. They have all of that. What's not to like? The wine and beer selection is incredible and the pricing is very good. The humidor is one of the biggest I have seen and they staff it with people that actually know their cigars. The homebrew supplies are a little thin but if you already have the equipment you can get grains and various other items at a great price. In the back they have their own brewery called 8 Ball. I am currently very angry at Party Source. Thanks to their ridiculous deals, I now have a handle each of cherry lemonade vodka and tropical punch vodka. Tropical punch vodka?? What the hell am I supposed to do with that?? That's OK. I forgive Party Source because its incredibly wide selection of beer, wine and liquor has fully equipped my grownup toy box. Their staff is pretty knowledgeable and they have a first-come-first-serve policy on hard to find bottlings, so you do not have to spend $10,000 there to get your hands on that bourbon-barrel aged barley wine double fermented with raspberries, ghost peppers and taco seasoning. Oh, and if your grocery list consists entirely of hors d'oeuvre, you can get all of your grocery shopping done there too. It's a really great excuse to go to Party Source weekly. The Source has draught beer that you can easily have poured into a growler for safe keeping in your personal fridge (beware though, it doesn't last quite as long as your bootled beauts do...) My buds lean on the scotches - and I was incredibly impressed with the variety of Single Malts - I snagged my good friend Laphroaig, but it was hard passing up some of the sugary bourbons next door. It's pretty much the perfect shopping destination for thirsty folks, whether you are planning a house party for 100 or just need to restock your wine collection. Wide aisles full of any wine, spirit, or craft beer you could hope for, a knowledgable staff to help you, and great prices! They also have gourmet foodstuffs, party decorating supplies, and interesting sodas/mixers. They recently expanded and as a result have an improved cigar room and beer cooler. I've found beers here that I thought would never exist outside of their geographical region. I go almost every time I visit Cincinnati and head home with a trunk of new wine to try. OMFG I am soooooooo in love with this place. This is better than BevMo in Cali and better than my favorite place in Costa Mesa, CA. This is -the- Disneyland of all things alcohol. My first visit was yesterday, when we were exploring all of the CVGs offerings. We stumbled across this place and I said we had to check it out. I ended up meeting Andrew (if you're reading this, Haaaaaaayyy), who knows all things beer. He is ah-may-zing. I ended up buying single bottles of Founders, a Michigan based beer, since I made a note that I enjoyed it while in Grand Rapids one night, as well as a bottle of the temporary special edition of Guinness (the 205?) and some of the Red Hook beers that I can't get in VA. Tonight, I ended up going back to get a 6 pack of Tuschers, a German beer I also enjoyed while in Grand Rapids, and a 6 pack of the new Red Hook light beer. I'll be bringing all of these back to VA with me. I told Andrew which beers I liked and he was able to give me some recommendations based on his assessment of my beer likes. The employees there are very helpful...my friend was looking for a blue liquor that he didn't remember the name of. Andrew got another guy, who got another guy to go through all of the liquors to find the blue ones. Talk about service! But it's also so much more than that...They even fill balloons, sell cheese and snacks, and party decor. This place has it all! We went on a Saturday and they were giving out free samples of whiskey and egg nog, which was awesome! You can't get free alcohol samples on the other side of the river. I've actually never bought any food there, or bought and decorations, but I have certainly gotten my fair share of alcohol. My favorite thing to do is create my own six pack of beer. You can go in the chilled section, grab an empty 6 pack, and fill it from the wide selection of bottles they have. I probably do this twice a month, usually choose a theme or a certain brewery, it's a nice way to try out various beers from across the country (and globe).
