It's a national treasure? This is probably taking it a step too far, but I love The Party Source so much that I recommend it as a pit stop for friends that are coming in from out of town. I am all about supporting small businesses (but considering it's basically a Costco-sized liquor store it doesn't really have a small business vibe). I have always found the workers to be super passionate, which I attribute to their ownership stake in delivering good service. I have asked questions about beers, wines, sake - you name it - they definitely take their product seriously. Ahhhhh, Party Source This is by far the most pleasant shopping experience I have in this whole town on a daily-, no um, I meant, weekl-, sorry MONTHLY basis. I'll start with my only complaint: why is there no direct exit from 471 South to the parking lot? Am I to believe that people are crossing the bridge from Cincinnati for any other reason? Wouldn't you also prefer to a see a big purple sign on the highway that says "Party Source?" https://codes.ohio.gov/ohio-revised-code/section-4301.60 I thought I loved this place as a connoisseur of fine alcoholic beverages, but then my son's birthday happened, and I really discovered how MUCH this place really lives up to its name. Favorite things: the clearance section always has something interesting! I'm also a big fan of bitter liqueurs such as Malört ("ø(" = face of first time taster). I do still hold it against the staff who said "who likes that?" when I asked if they had it, especially since it's not nice to make fun of Good Things Made by Your Large Cousin City Chicago. Anyway...I always find strange things that I am happy to try when I get home. By far their best selection is in the area of KY whiskey/bourbon, though I do wish there were just a single section for ryes rather than having them all mixed in with the other whiskeys. Excellent selection of beers. Plentiful supply of vermouths, though they do seem to migrate around the store (on their own?) Not a complaint (I have no real complaints: I love this place), but it's not the best spot for wine. There are many good things, but the price point is not as great as other stores 3 min away. That said, you will still find tons of amazing wine here. In short, no matter the child's age, the source of the party is here. Oh and one other thing: this is the only pleasant place to exchange propane I've ever experienced and the only place I've ever exchanged where the tank didn't look like it was hanging of the side of an oil tanker in the South Atlantic Ocean for the past 14 years. read more

Would you pay $10 for this balloon? I just did. With Covid-19 looming, we thought curbside pickup from the Party Source would be the perfect way to get some birthday balloons for our twins while keeping our three month old safe. I called in the order earlier this week (great customer service), pulled in to the parking lot (quick curbside delivery of the balloons altogether, covered in a big bag). Had they not been in a big bag I would have seen how sad our 'piece de resistance' balloon was. Once the kids were in bed and we got ready to ice the cake, we took the balloons out of the bag and womp womp. Look at our sad balloon! And it was the $10 one! I figured Party Source would be good for it. Great customer service the whole way (we've been shopping there for well over a decade, never had any issues). We live in Oakley (and did I mention have a three-month-old?) so were hoping that a picture would be enough for a refund. I spoke with a number of kind people who assured me we could do one by phone until---nope! I need to bring the balloon in for a refund. A picture won't do. I don't know about you, but when you're a parent, a 40 minute round trip drive really isn't worth the $10. So now I just feel wickedly disappointed, like I wasted some money, like curbside is a rip off if the quality isn't there... and hopeful that my kiddos aren't disappointed on their birthday. I imagine it was a similar feeling to the first time I walked into Toys R' Us (r.i.p.) as a child. This however was my first visit inside the humidor! I'm not a real smoker of cigars. My Uncle was here from Wisconsin so when he mentioned wanting a cigar, we headed to the Party Source. The world would be a better place if every liquor store was this amazing. It's like Party City for adults. First off, they have anything that you might need for a party. Paper decorations and cups, as well as nicer glassware. Their selection of flasks and 'secret' stashes made me jealous that I didn't go to college close to this store. There's even a wine tasting machine (limited bottles with employee assistance) and a beer tasting with crawler fills. There's even a tap room at the back. I was blown away by this store. They had an entire wall with little bottles incase you wanted to try something. They have over a couple hundred bottles to build your own six pack. I live in Lexington. What a great place! This is what seems to be the largest liquor store in 2-3 states! Whatever you are looking for, they have it. The hard stuff was just endless of everything. Off brands that I have never heard of and different prices for all. You can get a well brand, and name brand or a super premium brand. They are also cheapest at this store, probably because of the volume that they buy. They had different variety's of everything. Now for anybody wanting beer, this is the place. Thankfully they have a awesome selection of all the Ohio beers, and Ohio especially the Cincinnati area has some of the best beers in the world! I found just about everything that I was looking for. The prices are also 1-3 dollars cheaper here then any other store that I was in. (I went to about 10 stores as I was looking for a Taft's beer that was sold out everywhere) I ended up getting 22 different 6 packs, and most were the last one available. Lots of one offs that the brewery's did, and so far there isn't a bad one in the batch! One of the best brewery's in the area is located in the back, Braxton Labs, where they create a lot of awesome beers and they sell out in under a hour when they go on sale. This is such a great store, the selection is world class. Even soda's are well stocked. They had a bunch of ones i've never seen, including a whole line of Gene Simmons soda's, Albata root beer's, and the famous Liquid Death water from Europe! IF you are close, go to this store, you will find something that your home bar needs. Also make sure to check out the walk in cooler in the back, where they have 200-300 beers, and mixed drinks cold ready to buy and take back to get the party started! When we want something outside the usual beer and wine, DLW and I usually look to a restaurant or bar. It can be hard to find top shelf liquors or some exotic libations in the typical Cincy stores. But then DLW got a tip about this place, and we set out to look for ourselves. It is a huge space for a party store. Several aisles are set aside for decorations, favors and hardware. Whiskey seems to be the big thing here, so any bourbon, scotch, rye or whatever style you want is here. DLW tried a sample of scotch and another of vodka, which you can't do in Ohio. Beer and wine selections are also good. They have a growler station, and Braxton Brewery has a tasting room in the back which I believe will also fill a growler. Prices compare favorably to other stores. We found our desired bottle of soju, and at a very reasonable price, although the Asian selections are not nearly as extensive as American and European. I am a beer drink through and through, and the selection here is top notch. I've bought a few nice bottles of different liquors as well for various functions and friends. The employees here are super knowledgeable and always help me obtain the best whiskey (usually) or whatever I need at my price point. I'm genuinely wowed every time I step into the store - which is a lot. It's on my way to and from work and centrally located off the highway in Newport. They even offer different snack and present options to go along with the case of wine you'll eventually put in your cart. It's a one stop shop for me. Admittedly, their prices aren't as competitive as they advertise. I personally am okay with spending a couple extra dollars to hang out in this alcohol mecca compared to fearing for my safety at some sketchy corner store with questionable liquor sourcing. Plus, their selection is unmatched. Maybe I can get the Rhinegeist six-pack for two dollars cheaper elsewhere, but can I buy that nitro six-pack from Colorado at the cheaper store as well? That's going to be a hard no, sir (or m'am!). If you're from Cincinnati and planning a shindig, or you're passing through the Queen City and want to check out the large purple and yellow neon sign peaking out from the highway, I would totally recommend it. Went in looking for a specific wine and a specific, limited beer. Tom greeted us in the wine area, which is huge BTW. We had a picture of a wine label that we'd received as a gift. Tom took us directly to it. We chatted a bit and he has the same preferences as my wife. Subsequently he directed us to another wine that he says is very similar, and just over half the price of the one we came in for. We bought both and look forward to trying to "unknown" bottle recommended by Tom. Found the beer, too, so everyone is happy! While in Cincinnati, we were told that we HAD to cross the state line, go into Kentucky, and check out The Party Source. At first glance, I was a little confused. The building is not much to look at. However, start digging into the type of wine, alcohol, and beer served here, and you'll be impressed. The reason that I give The Party Source a 5 star review is the service. I wish I could remember her name, but I happened to stop a random sales associate and ask for her assistance in finding orange wine. Orange wine has been called "the new rosé" and is something that I've been really wanting to try. In my home town of Pittsburgh, our local state-controlled stores have no clue what orange wine is. However, the delightful woman that I stopped at The Party Source not only was familiar with orange wine but excitedly told me about nearly a dozen varieties carried in the store. The Party Source is literally my answer for everything. Thank god it is right across the river! It may seem overwhelming when you first walk in but what I love is that this place is organized so efficiently. Every aisle is labeled and every shelf is tidy from top to bottom. You'd think haven't so much inventory this place would be a wreck but it's not. If your looking for the regular items: vodka, gin, whiskey etc you are sure to find your favorites as well as specialties at a discounted price. But the real treasure at least for me is the craft beer selection here. They have rows upon rows of beer, cider, that you cannot get anywhere else in the city. That is not a joke trust me I have looked! We went to a wine tasting at Oliver Winery in Indiana and I wanted the apple cider they had. They actually harvested the apples on site. A very special product (and expensive) and sure enough the party source had it. I don't think I have ever said, "Welp, they don't have it." Never. Not once. This is one of my favorite places to stop when I'm in the Cincy area. The amount of alcohol they have is simply amazing. I love browsing through the aisles looking at the different varieties they have, and usually pick up a few things to add to my collection that I've never seen anywhere else. Their website has a great online inventory of what they have in the store, including the aisle you can find it on. I really like this place. Get a group of friends and do the Burgers and Beers on Thursdays - Go to their website and order tickets. They also have a calendar of events for their other functions (farmers markets, demos, etc...) This place is like a Whole Foods but for alcohol and beer. They do have some gourmet food items. They have a huge beer cooler. One neat aspect is that you can buy single beers - this is neat if you want to try your own beers and may make a fun night if you wanted to do your own beer tasting event.
