I have only had one tattoo done here, but it was the largest piece I have to date. In February of 2010 I started getting a back piece. I knew a few people who worked here, and they recommended that I talk to Josh. I talked to him, Showed him some photos of what I had in mind, Expressed that it would be covering up another tattoo that I had on my lower back. We discussed size and we were both on the same page. Since the piece was so large and free flowing he drew it all out by hand with a sharpie. It looked great. There was not real intricate detail and he didn't outline any of it. Just started with shading. He thought he could finish it in one sitting, and he could have if I wasn't such a "punk Bitch." About half way in I had to call it quits. After It healed (and in the mean time looked like a chopped down tree) I went back in to have it finished. The second time around he free hand drew the branches back on with minor changes, which I loved even more than the first set. The Tree turned out beautiful!!! I got it touched up this past April. And It is still gorgeous. He did a great job. I would go back and recommend him to everyone. I am so happy with the work he did. Every time I see it, or get compliments on it from others it just reminds me that I picked an amazing artist with great talent who could turn my thought into an image. I decided to go to this tattoo parlor after reading the numerous great reviews here on Yelp. I went in to make an appointment looking to continue my all red tattoos. I specifically asked for a tattoo artist who could confidently copy Korean scripture in RED onto my spine. someone who had worked in red and could do it well. Red ink doesn't tend to last as well hence why I was so focused on finding someone with the capacity to do so. Luis assured me he worked in red and could easily do it, so I put down the $60 deposit and made an appointment for two days later. When I went in the day of my appointment, Luis was late, and seemed frustrated when I had him redo the tattoo twice (as he does not speak Korean and was not able to properly read the tattoo). Once everything was finally figured out he began tattooing me... in BLACK. Luckily, I realized after one line, and Luis immediately responded by telling me it was my fault, that the tattoo would look better in black anyways, etc. I was completely shocked, just trying to comprehend that a tattoo artist would try to cover up their mistake by blaming me/telling me it would look better that way. Another artist began to tell me how red looks 'shit in ten years anyways,' etc but the longevity of red is not the point, the point is that red ink is what I wanted on MY body. I began to panic, and Luis responded by rolling his eyes and going on his phone. When I decided to leave, the only thing he said was that he wasn't going to be refunding the deposit since he had spent "over an hour and a half" tracing the tattoo. What a joke. I am baffled, upset and angry at the treatment I received at this parlor. Now I have to pursue laser tattoo removal because of this incompetent artist, out of my pocket, an additional expense for a college student. Overall I do not recommend this parlor, especially if you are not a white male. read more

the man at the counter was incredibly rude and assumptive about the tattoo that i wanted. he said things like, "nobody is going to want to read all that" and other discouraging remarks. first of all, tattoo selection is a personal choice. this would be my tenth tattoo, i am not unaware of the process of tattooing. the man who helped me made some general assumptions about what i wanted and why i wanted it. it was really annoying and arrogant. i left without getting anything done. i headed to aurora tattoo and they were incredibly helpful and supportive of figuring out how to get me what i wanted. i have an appointment set up with them instead and am looking forward to it. stay away from the parlour. read more

My boyfriend and I went into this shop to see if they could cover up and old tattoo of his with a new one. The guy we spoke to saw the tattoo design he wanted to use as a cover up and immediately said that it could not be done and would not work as a cover up without even seeing his previous tattoo. Once he actually looked at his previous tattoo then he said it was possible but that he wasn't an expert and that we had to talk to an artist who wasn't in the shop at the time...very frustrating. There were two other tattoo artists in the shop who acted too busy to talk to us as well. Poor service all around. read more

This is the best Tattoo shop in Eugene. This review is specfically for Jay at the parlor he has done all my work and I plan to continue using him for all my future ink while here in Eugene. He can draw up anything for you and his style centers around traditional japanese tattoo's but he has experience in most styles. I got my first tattoo from him last year and he made it an enjoyable expierence, helping me through it and understanding this was my first and I wanted it to be perfect. The place is a clean and relaxing enviorment to get inked and the prices are competitive with any other place in town. Was looking to get a piece done alongside my boyfriend before I left for California in a week and was able to get an appointment for 3 days later. The artists and desk girls were all really helpful and friendly with helping me and my boyfriend figure out our designs and appointments. During our appointment I felt really comfortable and loved the lively environment of the shop. I got my tattoo done by Nathan, who did a great job despite it not being his style. Etzel was able to make his own amazing design out of my boyfriend's complex ideas and helped him with the anxiety he had concerning the tattoo. The tattoos were very reasonably priced and I was able to use the yelp coupon that yelp presents on here, yet I don't think anyone in the shop was aware of this coupon beforehand (so make sure it's okay/accepted before you get your tat done, preferably!) I had a consultation to get a tattoo here. I met with the guy and immediately a walk in had shown up so I felt like his attention wasn't on my tattoo design at all. The front desk girl kept rushing him to finish with me so he could take the walk in. It was going to be my first tattoo and was a symbol of my grandparents and I needed it to be special, and be a good experience. I was still trying to ask questions after I was rushed out of our meeting and he wouldn't even look at me after I handed him my money. He answered one of my questions and he just made me feel dumb for even asking and didn't give a real answer. Again this was my first tattoo and I was very nervous about it. I went home feeling super bad about my experience and had a horrible gut feeling. One of the other artist there was very rude to me when I went back saying I had a bad experience and didn't want to go though with it. In the end I went to another shop in town and had an awesome experience and the design was spot on unlike the one I had drawn up at the Parlour. This shop is way overrated and there are much better places to go In town. read more

I will never get tattooed anywhere but here. I have been tattooed by Demian and Matt. Excellent work by both. My ribs and lower right side was all Demian and I could not have asked for better work. When I went in to get my wrists done I wanted Demian again, but my husband was hogging him for his full arm piece. Demian recommended Matt for the traditional style sparrows I wanted on my wrists and I am so glad he did. These guys are the best. If you are in Oregon or the surrounding states make the drive. I am currently living in Chicago, and will get tattooed in December when I fly home to "see my family" :-) read more

Found this tattoo shop on Yelp and went to because of its high rating and recommendation. Did a walk in, waited about 20 minutes to have the sketch drawn up which I liked and proceeded with the tattoo. The artist that I was with ended up adding to without my approval. I was upset but figured I could add to the tattoo and make it look good. Three weeks after I got my tattoo my arm was clearly scarred and I went into the office to show the artist be stated that it was still healing. This isn't my first tattoo and it was clearly scarred and they obviously didn't wanna refund my money or do anything about it. Now three months later my tattoo is still scarred or as they stated when I went in "healing" I'm not completely happy with the tattoo mostly bc it's scarred but it's not horrible. Just would never goto this location again. read more

I recently had my first tattoo done here. I wanted one on my left collarbone, and expected it to hurt because it's such a thinly skinned area. Despite the fact that it was a lot less physically painful than what I had expected, I was pleasantly surprised that my tattoo artist (Jimmy Singleton) was trying hard to distract me - he knew it was my first time. He was talking to me the entire time, and before he got started on it, he was very meticulous about what I exactly wanted, and in what kind of script. He customized it on my skin with a sharpie, which I really liked. He proceeded after I gave him my approval. The whole process took about 30 minutes, and I could really tell that he really cared that I did like my first ink job - he was careful, but all the while talked to me like nothing was happening. The sensation was a bit uncomfortable, but nothing anyone else can't handle! I love my new tat, and I get compliments on it quite frequently. The price came out to be $60, so I threw in an extra $10 for tip. Later on I was told it was overpriced, but I didn't mind spending a little extra on my first tat! 4 out of my 5 tattoos were done by Demian here. I am always pleased with his artwork, two were my design and two he created from me just talking about it, didn't need to adjust them at all. Everyone is nice and makes you comfortable, even if you're a tattoo virgin. My husband has two tattoos that were done by Josh, one was an extension of a pirate flag into a whole shoulder piece, he blended it all together really well and left it open for more additions. Where do I start? Well, everything about this place is fantastic! I was greeted immediately as I walked through the door, and asked if they could do anything for me. I showed the person at the front counter, Krish, my ideas; some photos on my phone of what I wanted. He set me up with some of the artists portfolios while he went back and talked to the artists. After looking through the portfolios, I came across an artist I really liked, his name was Etzel. I asked if he was able to do my tattoo, and of course, they said yes. The work was AMAZING! Etzel was a super relaxed down to earth guy who made the whole situation very comfortable to be in. I've received tons of compliments and have had friends get work done by Etzel because of the one he did on me. over the past three years i have gotten a lot of tattoos from The Parlor, I mean a lot off tattoos. Every time that i have stopped by the parlor either to talk to an artist or to just BS the staff has always been chill. They answer all off my questions and are able to schedule my appointments. I called to make an appointment because of all the other reviews on yelp saying they were great. They told me they don't take appointments over the phone but to come in three days later and they could get me in right away. When I arrived they were completely booked. When I showed them my design they hemmed and hawed over it for twenty minutes and finally told me it would be impossible to do. They then took a phone call and made an appointment over the phone right in front of me! So obviously they lie. They were impolite and completely unhelpful. I will never go back. I drove straight to Area 51 Tattoo and asked for an artist. The first two who came out looked at my drawing and said, "No problem. That's beautiful." I scheduled with them and Russell did an amazing job. I would have respected the parlour if they'd told the truth and said, "I just don't want to do your tattoo." The star says it all, "Eek! I got my first and only tattoo here about 4 years ago and it turned out perfectly. I will definitely go back when I get it covered up (not because it's ugly but I have just grown out of it - it was an impulse tattoo). The guy who did my tattoo was really nice. The store is really cool. Great location too. When I got my tattoo I just walked in without making an appointment and they had me in the chair within a half hour with the stencil ready.
