The only issue I had was the cost of jewelry, I felt like they strive to have the best quality of fine jewelry, and the style is this natural gemstone, hippie look, but not everyone is about that. I last saw Chris 8 years ago for some realistic flowers to mark the birth of my granddaughters. That work was flawless. Just got a new grand baby. June birth flower is a rose. Didn't want a rose as we know it, so Chris did this desert rose for me. And, I couldn't be happier. Let's start with the place! Chris's shop is incredibly clean and fun. The walls are covered in new, in the box, characters from WWE, Scooby Doo, Simpsons and a bunch others. There's also beautiful skateboard decks and canvases he's painted. If you get bored there are classic pinball machines. He played really diverse music covering lots styles. It was loud enough but it was easy to chat. I was really impressed by the professional front desk girl. She gave her undivided attention until she was finished and then she went back to reading a book...reading?! Wow! She was great. About Chris: His workstation...CLEAN AND ORGANIZED. He wore gloves and changes mid tattoo when he needed. He opened sealed/sterilized needles in front of me. Other thing I sooooo appreciated is his gentle touch. Needles stabbing you sucks, but when it came down to whipping excess ink and fluid's away he was very gentle. He was very thorough talking about aftercare. Outside of the tattoo, he is an excellent conversationalist...quiet at times, attentive, and opinionated (in the right way). The girls were very friendly, we tried walking in but they were super busy. We made an appt for later and went right in for the piercing. Had an incredible experience with the entire process. Spoke to the artist (Kyler) about what I wanted and he made it happen exactly like we discussed! The tattoo itself has healed incredibly and the line work is crisp and clean. The color shading he put into it far exceeded what I initially expected. If you're wanting a septum piercing go straight to Sam! I just got mine done today, by someone else... the first time. As soon as I got home and inspected it more in the mirror, I realized it was totally crooked and sitting way to low in my nose. I immediately called the shop and they had me come back. I pulled down my mask to show the girl at the front desk and her response "oh.. I'm so sorry" Sam came right out and I showed her, and she just said "yep, let's go upstairs" Sam actually uses the correct clamps that should be used for this type of piercing to get proper placement. I felt so much more comfortable with her too. I've had many piercings and have never had to get one done twice. While I completely understand this is a tricky piercing, important steps/tools should never be skipped if you want the customer to be happy. I wish I could give 5 stars because Sam totally deserves it, but I had to go in twice.. I will definitely be back to Sam for all my future piercings though! read more

Oh my gosh!! This was my first time at Area 51 for a piercing and my experience from the beginning was awesome! I pulled up and the owner of the piercing shop, Jared was getting ready to leave. He introduced himself and took the time to walk me inside and help me with jewelry selection. Let me say the customer service awesome and the selection of jewelry is completely amazing! I was going to get my nose pierced but added my conches as well. Having personal help from the piercing shop owner was simply unexpected. Plus he was getting ready to leave and he stopped to help me! After several years of trying to find a great tattoo artist to finish my wife full back piece that had been started by another tattooer years earlier we finally found Chris 51 @ Area 51. This was the very best decision we could have made as his forte and wheelhouse happens to be the genre in which my wife's back tattoo was designed. The back story, several years ago my girl started this project only to have the original artist "get religion" about half way through the project, and tell her he could no longer work on her artwork he had started. This was devastating to my wife as the original tattooer had been working on her for months and she was now left with an incomplete back project for years. Fast forward; three years ago we found a local dude (I use that term loosely) who was supposed to be very good, had a little rep etc. - we talked to him in great length about completely someone else's work for her (a lot of tattooer's do not like to finish someone else's work) and he agreed. After several 2-3 hour sessions and hundreds of dollars later the piece was still not finished by this dude, his work was not only poor quality and incomplete - he also left the area after we had paid him (and several others had too come to find out) and bailed on us still owing her hundreds of dollars worth of time and work. Once again, she was left with an incomplete project that would now require a pro artist to not only finish the piece but cover up lots of bad work, bad color choices, blow outs, etc. Another couple years had passed and as she started looking for a professional to finish this long overdue project. I told her I didn't care where she went or how much it cost I just wanted her happy and it done right! Area 51 was not close but close enough to reach in a day drive (6+hours one way) so she made an advance appointment. Now Chris 51 stepped in - what a godsend. This man is not only talented beyond words, he accomplished in one 6 hour session more than the last knucklehead did in multiple weekly 2-3 hour sessions over several months. Chris reworked, covered up and redesigned my wife's back piece into a beautiful celestial work of art. My wife and his wife (she talked him into doing the project and a heartfelt thank you from us) had been in communication for several months leading up to our scheduled appointment, the day of our scheduled time Chris was waiting and ready to start on her back piece, he blocked the entire day off for her. Knowing it was going to be a long day, I did not deter them or stick around long once she got comfortable. Fast forward three hours - I popped in to bring her some food and check on her, and I was blown away by how far he had gotten and how great it was looking. A couple more hours later I returned again and he had just about completed a full shoulder to shoulder half back piece on her. They were both at the end of their thresholds and when he stopped it was unbelievable how much this amazing tattoo artist had gotten done and how beautiful it looked. Needless to say we have another full day appointment with him scheduled in the not to distant future, to finally complete this long overdue project. It took her years to get this artwork the way she's always wanted and it took a lot of looking, time and energy but, we finally found one of the very best around. I have a tattoo on my back I wanted to cover up and I was told to see Katie at Area 51 Tattoo to have a few sessions of laser removal done first. The shop itself is very cool and eclectic! Katie went over every possible detail with me upstairs (in the laser area) and answered all my questions. The laser was super painful, but it went fast and she was comforting... making sure I was doing okay the entire time. It feels like bacon grease landing on your skin, but the results are worth it. I did not blister or scab however it did itch for about two weeks! The results were great and I went back to see Katie again! If you need to have a tattoo removed, definitely go see Katie! What an amazing experience! I took my ninety year old mom in to have her ears re-pierced and it was awesome. Jared the owner was so great and he had a real nice and classy collection of jewelry to choose from. He had the perfect pair of turquoise studs, exactly what my mom had been hoping for. Kenny did the piercing and could not have been more talented or professional. He did a great job figuring out placing for the studs which was challenging due to my mom's previous worn out holes and was absolutely so sweet and kind during the whole procedure. My mom had the best time. She has been fighting cancer and missing so much being able to wear earrings. This was the best pick me up she has had in long time. I can't say enough great things about this studio! I went in to replace a stud with a hoop. I was initially met at the front by Sidney, her friendly smile and wonderful personality were a great first impression. The shop itself is sooooo sickly themed. Not snobby or pretentious like other commercial studios. They didn't have exactly the size I wanted but Kenny told me he would work with me if it wasn't what I wanted. Kenny also was super cool and friendly. A week later I decided to go bigger. Same beautiful smile of Sidney was there to great me. Her and Jared helped me find a super sick, thick gold hoop. We talked for a while and sized me up. They were so friendly and helpful. Jared killed it when putting in the new hoop. No pain, very gently hands.
