The artist didn't get back to me in a timely manner, or answer any of my questions. They refused to do the tattoo I actually wanted and canceled my appointment due to the not likeing my design. Not that I could have changed it in time for them to draw up because then canceled the night befor my appointment. Very unprofessional. So many positives here at Black Label Tattoo in West Eugene, Oregon. I will say 1st that their current deposits of $100 beats anyone I have called around and checked. They also except walk-ins, which is another awesome thing. I looked all last year for someone to respectfully give me a political tat. That said when calling places, I got attitude and turn aways left and right throughout Oregon. Husband connected with an artist at Black Label Tattoo a couple months ago and his name was Josh. You can check his work on Instagram @TidalWaveTattoo. He was respectful from the beginning. Once I got the idea to him what I wanted he sketched a quick piece to give me an idea of what was in his head and sent through text before we finished our 1st chat through text. I was very impressed and said yes lets do this. Scheduled it for Dec 30, 2024. I love my tattoo artist Josh. Never once did he put politics and beliefs into the mix. He had a customer (me) (who wanted a piece that wasn't a hate or disrespectful tattoo) and was only all about the art piece and respect the whole way through. Def have a future repeated customer. Will only be coming to Black Label Tattoo for any future pieces. He made my piece look beautiful, flowy and the price was right. I also had brought my oldest daughter who loves tatts for support, it being a hand tattoo and knowing it would be painful. :) While my artist Josh confirmed with me his sketched piece & waited for final touch ups on my tattoo design, we looked through the books of tats by other artist there. Lets just say she ended up walking out with 2 small tattoos that night by a really nice artist there as well, named Dairian. She was super nice & had deals on her tats. She did one pre-drawn piece on my daughters wrist and while my daughter was still waiting for me to get done, she asked her on the fly and the 2nd tattoo she sketched out. It looked awesome and my daughter is so happy. My daughter said she will be getting all her future tats done my Dairian at Black Label Tattoo now as well. Horrible service for flash sale waited over 6 hours in the pouring rain and cold to have the people in front of me be the last ones of the day. People were cutting in line and they had no line management both locations were out of control. The business stopped answering phone calls. Completely unorganized! They should have had numbers handed out so no one would cut and you would be promised a tattoo for your wait. They should have offered people who waited for hours in the rain a certificate to get the flash tattoo another day for the $20 or something. So disgusted with this many people were crying and had come from out of town or scheduled the day off of work just for this event me included. Alec is a straight up genius when it comes to ink at Black Label Tattoo. The time, effort and care that goes in to every minute spent on your Tattoo is what you will get. He has the straightest line work in town. A portion of my tattoo has thousands of dots in it. Each dot has its own shading. To match up with the rest of the Masterpiece! I have two more sessions scheduled after doing two sessions already. I can't wait to get back in there!! It is very much worth mentioning, Alec cares very much about your safety and the safety of others. While doing my Tattoo if we had to break for anything. All new gloves on, new plastic everywhere. Alec is the most talented artist I've ever come across. I drove all the way from Los Angeles to come see him. Los Angeles, one of biggest tattoo cities in the world, has nobody on his level. My husband had gotten a ship tattoo from Alec a few months ago and decided he wanted an ocean theme so we went in last night and he got a lighthouse tattoo on his other leg. Alec was so professional and took his time on it . It turned out so beautiful . I would recommend black label tattoos to anyone wanting a quality piece of work . If I could leave a negative 5 I would. The tattoo artist Alec Turner needs to be investigated. He sexually harassed me before I even went for my appointment. He sent me inappropriate messages, tried to FaceTime me. He wanted more pictures of me and said he would decide the cost when I came in. However I had my husband go make the deposit and when I got another message stating he prefers that he just deal with me personally so after that I just asked for my deposit back. I felt he was so inappropriate and didn't want him touching me. He said he wouldn't give it back until my husband called him. He needs to be banned from the industry. read more

I've called the shop multiple times. Not Alec nor Danielle have acknowledged the problem. The first tattoo appointment I scheduled in April of 2021 was rescheduled because I called the day of my appointment to confirm, and Danielle rescheduled me. She told me on the phone February 28th. I didn't know alex doesn't work on Tuesday's. I didn't know it was his sons bday. Now she claimed she said Feb 5th. Mind you; I've had the same number. She claimed not to have it but also claimed to have contacted Me and never left an email me or voicemail. I had to email Alec's gmail directly. I thought I was communicating with him, but it turns out it was Danielle. She yet again lied and claimed not to have my information, but in the email, you'll see my current number. I then claimed to have texted me. In one text, she claims she never called me. She texted me. This is unprofessional, and I feel scammed. No one contacted me. I have paperwork from my phone company for all the call logs and texts. I do not see an area code 541 for Eugene. Mind you, I live in Salem. I drive all the to Eugene to meet Alec in person. He took a picture of my back, and I told him what I wanted. Initially, I just wanted the tattoo I paid for and waited days for them to get back to me. They read my messages, and not one of them or the shop has redirected me. I put a $500 cash deposit down. Also never got a sketch after he agreed to do my garage outline tattoo and his words, "make it better" I waited a year and a half. At this point, I want my refund, or I'll go to small claims court. read more

Decided to go to this tattoo shop because of the good reviews. After going and getting such a simple tattoo, I cannot express enough how important it is to really do your research. After reaching out to the shop to express how my tattoo was coming along (ink peeling off and tattoo fading within 2 weeks) see timed stamped photos, they agreed that they would take care of it for me. After much back and forth with the shop owner, we agreed to a friday @ 6p where he would take care of it for me. Friday comes along and the shop owner is no where to be found. I reach out to some of the employees there about it and they have no idea what I'm talking about. Long story short, one the employee says that there is nothing that can be done and that they would need to charge me an extra $50 to fix it. They told me that my tattoo is in a high fading spot... which I totally understand, as I currently have 4 other hand tattoos. None of which have faded for the 3+ years I have had them. Plain and simple is that the tattoo was done poorly, and instead of admitting it and fixing it they just wanted more $ for something that should have been done right the first time. Poor work: if the tattoo artist is inexperienced, it is possible they will not have done good work. Perhaps they have not penetrated deep enough, used too little ink or not gone over the area sufficiently. In these cases, the tattoo may start to peel a lot and ink comes off. This is one of the many reasons you need to go to a trusted tattoo artist, even if it costs you more money initially. read more

This is my go-to tattoo parlor. Alec Turner, the owner and one of the artists, is amazing at photo realism, as well as many other styles and is a very well rounded artist. He's probably one of the best artists I've seen in Eugene, and is a really good guy all around. I actually have a deposit down with him right now. If you want a piece from him, book now, as he's always booked out months in advance. It'll take some time to get into the chair with him, but it's always worth it. Nathan Ealey is a great artist, he specializes in American traditional, but does a wicked neo traditional. I just got a Frankenstein piece from him and I'm loving what he did. Gage Cheesman is newer to tattooing, but you wouldn't know it from his work. This kid is one to watch, as he is putting out some amazing pieces. I was able to get a tattoo from him just a couple weeks after he got his license, and was immediately impressed with his ability as an artist. I'm not as familiar with the other artists in residence here, but with the dedication to quality that Alec puts into everything he does, including choosing artists for his business. Everyone here is friendly, from the reception desk to the artists. Their work is top notch, and is always the first place I recommend to anyone. I received quite a bit of unprofessionalism at this shop. Left a email about a tattoo only to get emailed back nearly two months later after I had already gotten my tattoo. Now with the artist Jasmine the consultation went really well, but that was kind of the only part that went well. I was booked for an appointment and the day of, nearly 3 hours before my appointment I was texted asking if I could reschedule. During the consultation, she told me the tattoo wouldn't take long in the time so we had work. When she messaged me the day of the appointment, she said she needed more time to do the tattoo, which I completely understand, but texting me extremely last minute is unprofessional. She also said she wanted to draw up my other ideas and place some of my arm to make sure that when we start my sleeve everything will flow together. On the day I arrived, the only piece she had drawn out, was the piece I was getting that day, and one other drawing, the other drawing she had was not even an idea of anything I wanted to be a part of my sleeve. When she put it on for placement, she put it randomly on my forearm, which wasn't even near the tattoo I was getting in the first place. She had nothing drawn up and did not place any other tattoos on my arm besides what I was getting. She also charged 180 an hour and I'm sorry but for the work I had done it was not worth 180 an hour. Costed almost $1000 for the piece that I'm having to get retouched somewhere else. I was offered a free touchup, but due to the entire situation, I am nervous that this tattoo will become even worse. I know not all tattoo artists are the same and everyone's outcome can be different, but this was my situation with this artist. read more

I got my first tattoo done by Curtis Duke who is currently working here. He did an amazing job on my piece and I cannot wait to come up with more ideas to put on my arm. The shop feels like a family and when one of them is tattooing they all go and check out how the progress is coming. Went in for a consultation and the guy acted like I was inconveniencing him. He clearly didn't want to do the tattoo because all he did was tell me about how difficult my ideas would be to execute. And he said he didn't do outlines. My understanding has always been that making a stencil for the outline is how you make sure it works on the skin. On top of that, he doesn't like having to work around existing tattoos. I was really excited to go here because they had such good reviews and I've been looking for a good place to start work on a sleeve but I ended up thoroughly disappointed. read more
