Hello there weary traveler! My husband and I stayed here last night. Breakfast this morning was delicious, hash browns, eggs, homemade waffles, coffee and sausage. This was our first B&B experience, and as the other reviews state, yes this is a B&B in an old house and not a hotel or an inn as it's listed on Priceline. It was a quaint house, the oldness added to the quaintness. Valerie, the manager, was outside working in the yard when we arrived, and greeted us. There are a lot of doors in and out of the house which is a nice for coming and going. Each room has a lock on the door. The room was nice, all of the rooms have their own bathroom. The towels were thick and luscious, and there were even nice vintage bathrobes in our room. The bed wasn't the most comfortable, and could use some fluffier pillows, but we got a great night sleep. We got up this morning and walked around town, there is even an old railroad (1897 Sierra Railway) station around the corner that you can explore. The neighborhood is safe. We walked into town last night and had delicious authentic Mexican food. Valerie was really nice and accommodating. Her breakfast in the morning was DELICIOUS. read more

Do NOT go by reviews older than around 02/01/2023. This old Victorian Bed and Breakfast was sold to people that actually love it and want to take care of it and you. It is NOT the same owners that apparently didn't care. My wife and I rented the room with two claw foot tubs and it was great. All the hot water you can need. The best part about our experience was meeting and dining with Michael. The new owners would be wise to keep him for as long as he is willing to stay. I kind of don't want to leave such a great review because I wanna keep it to ourselves but they and chef Michael deserve better than the start rating they have. read more

We arrived in Jamestown, early. Went to the Inn, which really should not be called a hotel. That is my only complaint. We were met by the Inn Keeper, Paula. Very sweet, and said room would be ready in 30 min. Went to eat at the National Hotel, and had a delightful brunch. Came back in awhile, and room was ready. We had the king sized sweet, and such a bright, airy room. Paula showed us around, and answered all questions. The room was definitely eclectic, and that was part of the charm. After all, we are not in the big city, and said by Paula, the inn is in the process of improvement, as the owners are relatively new. We went to dinner at Willow Steak House. Very good scallops and steak, service good, and very homey. Back to room for cocktails with friends in our room. Furniture was not so comfortable, but oh well, it is for one night. Paula brought us ice for drinks, and was always around to please. She even went to buy ice for us. No barking dogs, but Sissy, Paula's doggie, who greeted us, but otherwise quiet. Breakfast was varied, with coffee waiting. Juice, cereal, scrambled eggs, and waffles, homemade breads. Paula filled us in on the history of the inn, showing us pictures, including a movie made there with Clint Eastwood, and 3 other movies. This place has received some bad reviews. I just have to say, Paula is one interesting, delightful, hard working lady, who maintains the inside and out of this place. Sure, some improvements could be made, but it takes time, and I know Paula is doing her best, and we loved the experience there, and getting to know her. The building is in decent shape, but you can see that it needs some attention/maintenance. There was a general lack of attention to detail evidenced throughout our stay. Check-in is at 3 pm, which is about when we arrived. The front door was locked and nobody came when we rang the bell. When I called the number posted, the person who answered told me he would have 'a guest' let us in. Finally an elderly gentleman who didn't speak English came and let us in. Upon entering, I noticed that the building smelled of curry and garlic, as if the family who ran it were making their midday meal. I came to learn that all the public rooms and hallways smelled like that at all hours of the day (our room did not, perhaps because the door was kept closed). The carpet was dirty, and the room was freezing. A teen/young adult arrived soon after to check us in (turns out it was her grandfather who let us in). She was very nice, but flustered and seemed trained just enough to be able to run my credit card. I had booked the room with the two bathtubs, and we immediately turned on the small space heater to try to warm up the room, and decided to draw baths. No hot water. Back out to ask about that. The young woman turned on the water heater, I guess, and told us it would only be 10 or 15 minutes to heat it up. We waited about half an hour before trying again, and yes, there was hot water, but not enough to fill two tubs. Also, one of the tubs had some grime on it, apparently left by the previous guest. I also found a random child's plastic drinking cup in the armoire where the extra linen is stored. The breakfast, described on the hotel's site as including an 'egg casserole', waffles, and biscuits and gravy on Sundays, was....not that. It looked like the family had pulled a few cereal boxes and half-used loaves of bread from their pantry and plopped them on the table for the guests. There was not even any coffee or hot water, and the flustered young lady, when summoned, didn't know how to use the coffee maker (we couldn't figure it out either). PALM HOTEL, JAMESTOWN, CA -- -- I WAS IN THE ER... WE DID NOT STAY THERE... NO REFUND OR COMPASSION We were supposed to stay at the Palm Hotel in Jamestown, Ca.on Dec 27, 2019. I had a medical emergency and ended up back home in the Kaiser ER. I did not have my phone or the phone number OF THE HOTEL to cancel. Valerie (employee at the hotel) had the courtesy to call me. I explained my situation and thanked her for calling (I was still in ER - 7+ hours). She said it shouldn't be a problem. On January 7, 2020, I looked and had been charged for the stay ***WE DID NOT STAY THERE*** I called the owner and asked what could be done. After a short discussion, he said, "We have a 48-hour cancelation policy. I can give you 15% off the next time you stay with us, that's our policy." I replied, "You are the owner and make the policy. Why would I come and stay when I've already been charged for a night I wasn't there... I was IN THE ER!" He replied, "I would have to talk with the other owner, but that's our policy." I asked, "What about some compassion? I could not help my medical condition!" He said, "That's our policy." I said, "People make policies and can make exceptions when it's appropriate. I do not want to go on YELP or anything else and tell this story. He stated, "Do what you have to do. "That's our policy. I will respond on YELP"... THEN HE HUNG UP... Judge for yourself. The Bates Motel was WAY more inviting and far less creepy than this place! My husband and I arrived around 9:30 to a dirt parking lot with NO LIGHTS behind the hotel. The hair on the back of my neck stood up as we walked closer to the hotel. When we walked in, the hotel had this weird vibe inside. It's not even a hotel... it's an old house. We were given room 5 on the second floor. As we climbed the stairs I half expected to see two creepy twin girls at the end of the hall holding knives... ya, it was that creepy. When we got into our room, the thing that really freaked me out were the framed drawings of children on the wall next to the bed - I will get to the bed in a minute. We walked into the bathroom and there were two tubs in there with no shower, no curtain, and no privacy - I half expected to see Jack Nicholson from The Shinning break the door down with an ax and say, "Daddy's home". My husband was exhausted from the drive and decided to lay down, so he pulled down the nasty pink satin bedspread with white stains on it, peeled the blanket and top sheet away and noticed YELLOW STAINS on the sheets and pillow cases. It was gross and filthy; now that I think of it, the entire room was disgusting. I was so grossed out that I refused to take my travel clothes off, and rolled up my sweatshirt to use it as a pillow while I slept on the blanket. After about 10 minutes in the room, my husband got on his phone and found a Best Western in a town nearby. He booked the room at the BW and we booked it outta The Palm Hotel... a place where nightmares seem to come from. I read all the reviews and they were literally all negative with one exception....that must have been a relative. This place was disgusting. We were warned from a business owner in Sonora that it was a bad place to stay. We only chose to go ahead and check in because we knew our credit card would get charged. We were there on a weekend night and we were the only guests....That alone should have been a sign. The place stunk and was very dirty and unkempt. We had the room with 2 tubs and the hot water wasn't even on. I told the young girl and she said she needed to turn it on. We waited almost and hour and the water never got hot enough to take a bath. In the morning I could hear them in the kitchen making breakfast, but there was no way we were going to eat anything from there. We were gone before the sun came up. read more

The basics for a decent hotel are not met at The Palm. 1. It's not clean. There were stains on the towels & bedding, ashes (cigarette or incense?) on the bathroom shelf, piles of crud in the corners & under furniture, and a musty smell. 2. There is lots of upkeep needed such as, crumbling stair steps, peeling paint, and torn furniture. Would never recommend this place to anyone. read more

There are lots of good reviews but note they are not recent. Valerie and Paula sound great but no longer work there. We followed the bad signage to the parking lot then went to check in. A very sweet, flustered young teenager (maybe about 13) was working check in and was about to charge my card again when I told her I had already paid. She then said the key didnt work for the front door but the back was open all day/night. Then she said there was no breakfast "because of covid. We already got shut down once and cant get shut down again." She tried very hard to be professional but it came off like an adult made her be the bearer of bad news. The room was...very very bad. One towel, almost no toilet paper, loudly leaking sink, stained furniture, cords everywhere from the tv. The bed linens were scary...I felt sure they werent clean bc two pillows were in shams which everyone knows arent for sleeping. There was a scratchy wool blanket between the top and bottom sheets. One pillow had no pillowcase and the pillow was old and stained. The mattress itself is verrry old and super uncomfortable. The glass on every mirror was broken, the ceiling fan didnt work, the marble slabs installed in the shower are cracking the walls with their weight. The decor was sad. Like there was a dingy teddy bear without a nose and some random knick knacks. It felt like maybe the teenage girl was also the maid. The mini fridge was unplugged/musty and there was one bar of hand soap, one small shampoo and two lotions. The outside is just as rough, weeds everywhere some three feet tall. You can walk to town but it's poorly lit and a little scary. And yes the back door is wide open all night in a rough neighborhood. On the bright side the room had a new window AC unit. So new the box was still in the hall. I almost didnt write this because the young girl was very charming and I'm sure her parents/relatives need money. But because there were so many great reviews for previous staff/owners it needs to be said that this is a verrry different place and no one wants to pay good money to stay in a dirty, rundown place. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of this place. Hotel is not clean and I have my doubts that the linen is changed between customers. Paid $150.00 a night for a room which did not even have a TV. Was told it did not have a TV because it was a "family room" based on the second bed. Clearly the response was fabricated and I was told that we were done a favor because they allowed us to check-in around 12:00 PM instead of making us wait until 3:00. I made it abundantly clear to this arrogant young man that by paying $300.00 for a 2 night stay he was not doing us any favor. He apparently is not aware that check-in on the hotel paperwork clearly stated 11: 00. The room was dirty, the bathtub had old soap in the soap dish and the water to the bathtub/shower did not work until I figured out it was turned off at the hose connection. Once I turned on the connection at the hose the tub faucet began to severely leak which explains it being shut off at the source. Better to cut corners and inconvenience customers than to replace the faucet. Returned to the Hotel at 7 PM that evening to find the rear door to the hotel wide open. When I went to the desk to ask about the door the same man who told me I should be grateful for the "early check-in" claimed the rear door was only open because his handyman was working in the area. That was a flat out lie!!! The door to our room was the first door in through the back door, made me and my wife feel safe and secure about our belongings. Their site claims coffee is available in the parlor 24 hours a day. This is also not true. In almost 24 hours we were not able to get even one cup of coffee although we could make all the tea we wanted to with the hot water. Their idea of breakfast is great if you are OK with making your own toast or pouring Cheerios out of a tupperware container that was sitting out on the table the entire time of our stay. We discovered spiders in three of the four ceiling corners, daddy-long-legs, and very old dust and cobwebs in the hidden areas around the floor molding. This place should not even have a license to operate in this manner and conditions. The redwood deck patio located at the rear of the hotel approximately 6 foot off ground level had some gaping holes in the floorboards from wood rot and multiple spots around the exterior of the actual building showed gaping holes from wood rot in the siding especially near the front entrance. I try to find something good about everyplace we stay and VERY RARELY write a bad review but this place should be condemned structurally and closed down hygienically. I could on with many more discrepancies and failings but this should give people a clear picture. When people decide to open a hotel or B&B they should be prepared to put in the effort, time and cost to make sure the customers are a priority. These people have demonstrated that money and a total lack of interest for the customer is their mantra. read more

I've never been big on the whole bed and breakfast thing but this place may have changed my mind. Pretty sure its now called The Victorian Gold Bed and Breakfast. And the place was great! The house is really neat. The breakfasts were absolutely delicious. The new owners were attentive and friendly. The rooms were neatly decorated and very clean, the beds were comfortable and came with lots of pillows!! Its a short walk to Main St. shops and restaurants. A bit longer walk to Railway Park. First impression was bad. We arrived after check in and the doors were locked. Stood around 5-10 minutes and called all 3 numbers posted on a sign in the door before finally reaching someone who let us in. The person who greeted us was friendly and seemed genuinely nice and concerned, but was painfully awkward, socially. It's a really old house, and NOT a hotel. The word "hotel" should not be in the name - especially prior to the words "bed & breakfast." It is NOT a hotel. During check in I was asked how much the room was quoted at. I should have asked "Why, how much do you have us down for?" but did not think fast enough. Once the person heard the answer, she seemed very excited so something tells me I overpaid by a considerable amount. The bathroom seemed clean until I lifted the toilet seat to use it. There were dried urine splatters around the rim that I felt compelled to clean off. Disgusting. I really wanted to take a shower, but the bathroom only had a tub. No curtain, no shower stall; so I had to take my "shower" sitting down. Getting up and out of that tub all wet was no small task; and after having to clean the toilet I did not want to think about how contaminated that bath tub probably was. The house is located on a street in Jamestown shared by several cramped regular residences including trailer-homes across the street. It seems like all the locals own loud dogs that are allowed to bark all night. The house "hotel" has original single pane windows. Add to this the fact that there was a fire alarm somewhere in the house with low batteries "chirping" to let someone know, and you can understand the challenges for a light sleeper. The staff person made the coffee very weak. The breakfast was just OK. The "coffee" was more like light brown water than coffee. Seemed like maybe the coffee machine was loaded with about 1/4 or maybe 1/2 of the coffee that should be used. Yeah it was that weak. The rest of breakfast was ok. I think if I ever need to stay near Jamestown again, I will go to Sonora and get a proper room in a legitimate hotel. I feel sort of ripped off because that's what I thought I was getting here. I don't recall seeing the words "bed & breakfast" in the description on the booking site I used. Lesson learned. read more

This was such a great experience... The owners have such warm hospitality. The entire Victorian b&b was decorated in antiques. So gorgeous! It was very comfortable to stay there. The breakfast was lacking a bit. Confetti cake, cereal, not a selection of tea, juice and milk. We woke up rather late but it was still within the breakfast hours. We will definitely be back again. My husband and I booked a room at the "hotel" that turns out to be more a "old house". While the staff seemed nice enough at check in, when we were shown our room we were mortified. I have stayed at victorian B&B's before and let me tell you this was not one. The room was spacious but filled with fake antiques, garage sale tables, gross bedding, the bed itself seemed ready for pasture, and there was an old tv that displayed a dark picture. The shower was filthy and it was dark! The neighborhood is scary, I would not walk around there, front yard not clean and the house had a strange smell. I was so disappointed I wanted to cry because there was no way I could stay there overnight, it didn't feel safe. Even the locals we met at dinner told us to run. It is no longer called the Victorian, it's now called The Palm Hotel. They actually took the "Victorian" sign, turned it over and painted, "The Palm Hotel" on the other side. They even hand painted 5 stars! They wish. This was a horrible hotel. Clearly, without a doubt, the worst hotel i've ever stayed at. Contrary to some reviews, there are no "antiques" but instead, some swap meet finds of mix and matched, hodgepodge brickabrack that is just a mess. The heater didn't work in our unit and instead of fixing it, they offered us some old worn out space heater. I said that was not acceptable and the kid that was talking to us just shrugged his shoulders. I explained to him that we were going to go out and have dinner and when we got back the heater better be fixed or, our refund better be ready. He had the nerve to start arguing with us and stated he would not give us a refund. We left for dinner and, when we came back, the father offered us another room. Not sure why that couldn't have happened in the beginning of the issue. The second room had heat but...the funny part is that it wouldn't turn off! It was just too comical at this point so we just opened the windows and turned the fan on and tried to sleep with the sounds of the loud dog nearby that barked all night. As soon as sun broke, we ran out of that place. Never again! I'll sleep in my vehicle before I ever stay at that dump. read more

I cannot believe we found this gem. We had to make a 6 plus hour trip one way from Nevada to California. We stayed at the Palm which was pretty much a halfway point. The new owner was amazing. He was so kind and accommodating. He is working so hard to get the place back to it's beauty. Evey time we looked outside he and others were working hard on the property. They replaced all the mattresses when he took over so I slept like a baby. The window AC kept the room perfectly cool...and it was a very hot day. Breakfast was amazing. Already on our plan to revisit. We will enjoy watching the place grow to it's well deserved beauty. read more

Like most of the resent reviews, this place it run down and not kept up. Room needed up keep, our bathroom need work. Towels were stained. The breakfast was not what the website promised. Did not see the owner but once, was checked in by his young daughter. A/C was not but a window a/c unit. We left and on the way home we got a call from the owner that the linens/bed had poop in them and charge us $200.00 for cleaning. We should have done our back ground and seen what it was like. Do not stay here, we have told our friends/family stay at a motel 6 instead of the bad place. read more

Not a fan of B&B's, but this one could change my mind. We were the only ones there and had a pick of any of the 8 rooms available. This was our anniversary, so we chose the room with double tubs. Very romantic. We were there for 2 nights and each morning the breakfast was exquisite. We talked with the owner about the history and how they came into running this B&B. Very hospitable and we highly recommend this to anyone wishing for a nice stopping point to or from Yosemite or anywhere in the High Sierras. read more

It's important to note that this property changed hands in April 2016 (check the address on Zillow), so older reviews should be ignored. Perhaps the new, woefully inexperienced owners will eventually get a clue but for now this inn is terribly run-down and a must to avoid. First impressions: a junky aluminum gutter lying in the gravel-and-weed covered "parking lot", and a busted-up porch light of the $15 Orchard Hardware variety near the front door -- the door which was locked upon our arrival in the late afternoon; a handwritten note directed us to call a phone number, which rang unanswered. A few minutes later the owner arrived, led us to the front desk and apologized that the room would not be ready for "20 minutes". Taking a seat in the pleasant-enough lobby, we said it would be no problem to wait 20 minutes, but were asked to please "come back" in 20 minutes. Forced to wait 45 minutes in 97 degree weather outside instead of lobby while owner got room "ready." Our room was filthy, with trash under the bed, weird holes in the door, dust and grime on most surfaces, no TV, no nightstands, no headboard, no bedside lamp or alarm clock, old, worn bedding including weird burgundy sheets which had apparently once been used as paint drop cloth, no wall decor or art except for a loudly-ticking cheap plastic clock hanging on one of 5 nails randomly sticking out of the wall, decades-old "plush" wall-to-wall carpet, mismatched furniture like you might see sitting on the curb with a "free" sign on it after Goodwill refused to accept it. One hanger in particle board closet. One flimsy terrycloth robe missing its belt - not sure whether this was an amenity or something left behind by a previous guest. A 2-outlet light fixture in the bathroom contained only one bulb. Well-used toilet brush and plunger sitting in plain sight next to the toilet. At least some nice new chenille rugs in the bathroom covered up most of the cracked and grungy vinyl floor tiles. A door in one corner of our room - I thought it might be a closet - surprisingly opened into a hoarder-style room, presumably the owners' quarters, where a tiny kid was sleeping. This kid started running around and yelling, one wall away from us, around 7:45 the next morning, a nice alternative to providing an alarm clock. Good part: the room had a nice ceiling fan, a good thing since there was no AC control in the room, although the control box for the outdoor sprinkler system was conveniently located on the floor. The breakfast was, well, just odd - as you might have expected. I was afraid to eat anything that was not pre-packaged because anyone who would put guests in a filthy room that had not really been cleaned in months or years would think nothing of having an unsanitary kitchen. So I ate a bagel, served with Country Crock fake butter and the cheapest possible bulk jelly packets (not even Smuckers) but no cream cheese. The coffee maker was very good. I understand that lodging can be scarce near Yosemite in summer, but don't try to save money by staying here. All you might get is the absence of bedbugs, compared with another low price choice I considered that is said to have them, in Sonora. Spend more, please. read more

The Most Horrible Experience EVER!!! I made reservations over a month ago, I even called a couple of times to go over dietary restrictions for the "breakfast " I spoke with a staff member just the day before our reservation. It took us a few hours to drive to the Victorian Gold inn and arrived in Jamestown hours before our check in time... So we just hung out in town until 3:00pm (check in time) When we Tried to check in THE PERSON AT THE FRONT DESK DIDN'T SEEM SURPRISED. They found someone to stay Friday and Saturday so for the sake of money they bumped us out for the two nights instead of our one night. Try getting a room in Jamestown on a Saturday same day. IMPOSSIBLE!! We had this trip planned for months in advance. So we had to make the trip home that night. 2.5 hour drive. Huge disappointment and inconvenience. We've been visiting Jamestown for many years and stayed at the Jamestown hotel and have never had this problem. We ventured off our usual path looking for something more intimate. MAJOR FAIL! Lets just say that if this place can receive a negative star, i would do it. Aside from the original architecture, everything is old and run down. As I understand, this place has a new owner but nothing inside seems to be updated in 30 years. The bathrooms, the toilets, and carpets are gross and disgusting. Along with the owner, she smells like she hasn't showered in 3 days or perhaps it is customary for her culture to have bo. Based on her accent and appearance, she's probably from India or surrounding countries. I had to keep a distance from her to avoid vomiting. Also, the weather outside is almost 100 degree and there is no ac control in the room. In summary, i have stayed in many different motels in my lifetime but nothing comes close to be disgusting as this. Happy travel! read more

No one there for check in until a lady came out and starting trying to communicate with me in another language- not yelling but not understanding- I already called the number on the door! I had called the number on the door and the person says they'll be right there but seemed stressed- kind of short. The bathroom was charming- love the claw foot tub but not enough hot water for a bath? Should have white towels and a bathmat. Seriously though. Super clean white towels and linens and a white duvet would do wonders. Plus remove 50% of the furniture in the lobby and pay attention to the lightbulbs and general cleanliness. read more

This place is horrible!! We arrived to place that didn't have the heat on. Was probably 50 degrees in there, lobby was dirty and obviously not kept up.Once we got to our room we realized is wasn't the room we booked on Expedia but a lesser room than we payed for. Room was dirty and we had no hot water.We quickly booked another room and left. We stayed at the Gunn house in Sonora in October, it was similar in condition. When the owner checked us in we realized he now owns both of them. I feel sorry for anyone who stays at either property,,he has no idea what he is doing. read more

My wife and I stayed the night at the Victorian Gold B&B as part of our anniversary weekend trip. It was my wife's first time staying at a B&B. The room was beautifully decorated, as are all of the rooms (insider knowledge), and the bed was quite comfortable. The inn was also very quiet, as we did not hear the other guests until breakfast in the morning. Breakfast in the morning was very good and filling. Made and served right from the kitchen, not buffet or boarding house style; though, boarding house style may be fun on special occasions given the history of the inn. The Victorian Gold Bed & Breakfast was a great place to stay! The interior was charming and clean. The bed was just ok. Not the most comfortable bed I've slept on. Breakfast was delicious! The owners are very friendly and helpful. They also have all of the menus for the restaurants on Main St. so you can make an educated decision on where to eat! The walk down to Main St. is less than 5 minutes. I would definitely stay there again. read more

The hotel itself doesn't look to bad from the outside, until you get closer and realize there is dust all over the outside sitting areas. The inside is a bunch of random supposed antiques. It could use a deep cleaning. Our room appeared clean upon entry. Then found an old soap wrapper in the shower and began questioning how clean it really was. Our bathroom had a toilet paper roll that was almost empty. The breakfast in the morning was what appeared to be store bought pastries, an egg dish brought over from another location and reheated as well as some muffins. When asked what type of muffins they were the response we got was "ummm... (pause), oh yeah apple I made them a few days ago". The employee on staff was trying her best but this was NOT the bed and breakfast experience we were use to. Way over priced. read more

I booked online with Expedia for a queen bed and a pull out sofa for $100/night plus tax. When I arrived at 2pm, per itinerary, the owner said the room is not ready because the hotel policy is not til 3pm. She suggested that I should contact Expedia to fix this mistake bc it's not her fault. Of course I refused bc it'd not my proplem. After she contacted Expedia, she tried to down play it by saying all three parties' fault for miscommunication. At this point, I'm already tired and exhausted from the driving and told her I don't want to stay here anymore but she refused to give my refund. I packed up my things and left anyways. On top of the ridiculous customer service, this place is really old and run down. The carpet is dirty, the whole place smells terrible, her 2 little children runing around unattended , and the rooms are tiny with a dirty old little fridge. Please don't be fooled by the hotel outside appearance. It might have a certain charm but that's all. This new owner has no clue how to run a hotel business. All she wants is to take your money. read more

HORRIBLE!!!! My husband and I tried staying here Saturday night. 1st of all, the photo does NOT represent what you pay for, their website needs to be updated! The place is ran down, cluttered & I think the mattress is an antique itself ;( the 2 innkeepers, didn't speak any English, we had to wait till the son came from Sonora to translate/check in, which was well after 3:00. We tried to get settled and rest a bit after the wait of checking in but once we got in the room a dog started barking & continuously barking right outside our window. Let's just say we had an early dinner, went back to the room, packed up and drove home which is over an hour away. Basically we paid for a place to store our belongings for a few hours. Doesn't deserve even 1 star in rating! read more

We enjoyed our stay here. The building looks and feels old, as the business name suggests. If you are looking for new, modern bedding and amenities, you generally won't find them here, but I'm not certain that is a failing. Our bedding was well worn, with crocheted blankets and old-fashioned quiltwork. As others have pointed out, a little modernization could go a long way in making the place more hospitable. For example, the front door was difficult to open from the outside, even with a key, and the back door and terrace doors seem to be on separate keys, making access to the building difficult when someone isn't in the lobby. Replacing the knobs and locks would improve the experience. Contrary to some other reviews, the air conditioning in our room was fine. We had a thermostat on the wall next to the door. Free wi-fi was available, but the connection would sometimes drop. The bathroom was tidy, with a quaint clawfoot tub. The B&B is in easy walking distance from town, so we enjoyed walking down to Main Street and visiting some shops and a wine tasting. Breakfast was enjoyable: egg casserole, yogurt, several varieties of quick bread, English muffins, and bagels, along with coffee, juice, and an excellent assortment of teas. The proprietors were friendly, helpful, and welcoming, if rather disorganized. Their toddler frequently plays in the common rooms and halls, which we didn't mind, but some people might. The whole experience felt more like staying with a great aunt in the countryside than like a professionally-run B&B. We found it charming, though, and wouldn't hesitate to return. read more

We were VERY disappointed...A waste of our hard earned money..We will never stay there again.I didn't even want to put one star but I cant post this unless I put one in. It was nothing like the website.I am not a picky person but to me this is false advertisement..Everything is outdated NOT "old Victorian" there is no Rose garden to walk through only a few bushes out front.Weeds everywhere that a very nice woman was trying to cut down as we drove up.There was a garbage can in the back corner,where I think you are suppose to be able to sit???full of stagnant water ,bugs and a HORRIFIC stench.I booked this hotel because it says it is a B&B to save money on eating out,and the pictures on their website looked so yummy.There was nothing even resembling the food pictured on their website.There was a runny egg and cheese casserole that was re heating on a hot plate(apparently the oven is broke,no wonder we could not smell any food cooking),2 plates of box made looking umm pastries ???The woman in charge was trying her best though to make things as presentable as she could with what she had.It was awful and then to find out the food is not even cooked on the premises ... oh yes there was even pee on our toilet .The owners of this sad old Victorian need to sell it to someone who cares about these old places and will truly make it a BED & BREAKFAST again as I did see past pictures in a photo album there that looked very nice and well kept(previous owners)......before its to late.Forgot to mention the only way our room had electricity was because there was a lamp plugged in outside our door that I asked about and the woman said its the only way they can get the electricity to work in the room....???? Looked at description of hotel and amenities on different sites,there is no managers reception,no concierge service. read more
