This place was great! Danielle did a great job!

I know nothing about hair and typically go to Supercuts to get a hair cut but I wanted a change. I wanted to find a salon I could go to all the time. I drove by the Painted Nest one day and decided to email them. The owner was very nice and directed me to Mary Jane. I had a consultation and Mary Jane was so sweet. I got a bayalage and went from brown to blonde hair!! It was a big change and I was really nervous but Mary Jane did such a beautiful job! My hair color looks so natural and it is such a beautiful blonde color and I couldn't be happier. I went in with virgin hair and came out with an amazing new look! I will go here from now on! read more

I loooove getting my hair done here and it's something I always look forward to. The stylists are really great at communicating with you about what you want to get done. I always show them pictures to give a reference and am always happy with the results. STYLIST: Kendra takes such good care of me! I tell her what I want and she's really informative about variations to give me options. I first got my balayage done by her and got soooo many compliments. I get people asking me where I get my hair done all the time. She was flexible with my work schedule and was able to fit me into a time that worked for me. She always offers me refreshments too since getting your hair done can take a while. ALSO when they shampoo and massage your hair it feels so good lol. I almost fall asleep. I also really appreciate how candid and informative they are with your hair. Kendra always recommends the type of shampoo that I should start using since I don't know a lot about that. They never pressure you to buy their products but the stuff that they use is also really good. ATMOSPHERE: The decor of this salon is adorable and I always find myself noticing cute little things about it each time. PRICING: Anything you do to your hair is going to be a little pricey especially if it's a balayage or something but I think it's worth it. The service you get here is well worth the price as well. I always recommend this salon to my friends and will continue to do so. read more

GINA! I'm so happy I chose to change up my usual and take the leap to find a stylist who is both talented and enjoys what she does for a living. The salon is not to small but also not to big; It's open and airy. The shampoo bowls are a dream come true, I have always dreaded the uncomfortable shampoo process, until now, finally a salon who has invested in comfortable shampoo bowls. My stylist Gina was also a dream come true. She really listened and understood the assignment haha and was really easy to understand as she explained the different types of color services that were available to me and longevity of each. This made it much easier for me to pick the service that best fit what I was trying to achieve with the least amount of damage. I wanted an all over color with minimal upkeep and a hair cut while keeping my length as much as possible and she delivered. My hair feels so soft and healthy and the color looks really natural and has washed really well. I was pleasantly surprised when I did my first shampoo at home and didn't see any color fall out into the tub. I have washed my hair multiple times since and my color is still lasting. I'm so happy. Gina has a very humble personality and made the time spent with her in her chair enjoyable, I almost felt like I had known her for years. It's always nerve racking going to someone new and the moment I sat down in her chair all that anxiety disappeared. Good vibes and good talent go a long way. Her blonde technique is gorgeous and I highly recommend Gina if you want healthy blonde hair, I am definitely comfortable enough to have her highlight my hair knowing it will be both healthy and gorgeous. Also, she works quickly and is focused on your service the entire time. My appointment didn't drag out. I had extra time after my appointment to have some me time because I was expecting to be at the salon longer than I was. I'm so happy I established a relationship with an honest hair stylist who enjoys her craft, get yourself booked, your hair and you won't have any regrets. read more

This saloon is super cute and all the hair stylists there are friendly. They have coffee, tea, donuts, etc when you go too! I got my hair done with Jessica about 3 weeks ago and am happy with how it turned out, especially since I have dark brown hair and was going lighter. Jessica took her time to listen to what I wanted and was very detailed and meticulous throughout the entire process. She also gave me tips and recommendations to some products they sell at the salon but was not pushy in selling them. I am definitely planning on going back! Probably Sooner than I want, since I wash my hair everyday despite Jessica's advice haha. read more

Everyone was so welcoming and friendly here. Such an awesome vibe. They offered me coffee, tea, water & doughnuts. They played lovely music and it was such a awesome atmosphere. Iris is my hair stylist, I highly recommend her! She never disappoints me and she gives me exactly what I ask for. She is gentle and always makes good conversation. read more

They're alright. Not the best looking end result but I'm generally ok with it. Wish they could keep their scheduling right. Super long waits and confusion despite having a reservation. and they have this really ugly and noisy looking fridge right by their front desk. maybe it's time to get a new one. read more

Mary Jane Zondervan at the Painted Nest Studio is truly an artist! After years of searching, I have finally found the best stylist ever. She gets the color perfect, and the cut is amazing. I have naturally curly hair, so I need a cut that can accommodate a wash-and-go curly look AND a blow-dried straight look equally well. She has the skill to turn my messy mop into a stylish, sleek, professional look. I have had so many compliments on my hair! As if this all wasn't enough, she makes the time spent in the salon fun with witty, upbeat conversation and a sparkling personality. I'll never go anywhere else again.... I'm a fan! I can't recommend Jessica enough! She's been cutting my hair for years and she is absolutely the best. She takes time and listens and brings your vision to life with a calm, personable confidence. Most recently, I went shorter than I ever have. She took off 10 inches and I feel so good. I've gotten so many compliments. I love her approach and work. Her salon is also beautiful and everyone is so welcoming! Thank you thank you!! read more

Thank you Kendra for an AMAZING cut today!!!! First off the shampoo. This is a big one for me as I love a good scrub and massage. And it sets the tone for the rest of the your salon experience. 100%!! Next the cut. I asked her for a lob (trying to be young again using words that I don't entirely understand) and showed her a picture what I liked. She did EXACTLY what I was looking for! Wow!! The blow dry was great and she even curled it in a super cute style. She was friendly and nice too. So happy I finally found a great stylist!!!! read more

I wish I could give zero stars. I was made fun of, NO ONE talked to me for the 2 hours I sat there, and my stylest, Sarah, pretended that she used the color brand I requested when in fact she didn't. She literally went to hide behind the corner, as if I'm that bloody stupid. I talked to 2 people over the phone (possibly the same receptionist) that told me it would cost $50, but my bill ended up being $150. An absolute rip off to bleach roots and put semi-permanent dye over everything. I made the job so easy and was still charged an insane price. And now, my hair is left looking like total trash because Sarah decided she would blow dry and straighten my hair *in a hurry. I'm having to pay someone else to fix it after she totally fried my head. I've never had this much trouble anywhere else. I regret coming here. I would NEVER recommend. read more

can we just talk about how great my hair looks?? seriously. major shout out to kendra for having the patience to turn my botched box dye mess into a gorgeous cool toned caramel balayage having her do my hair was like having your bff or sister style your hair - i'm obsessed, she also gave my hair a trim and texturized it, my hair feels weightless and soooo healthy. as for the salon itself, it is just about the cutest little studio ever, definitely feels home-y and warm. everyone at the painted nest is so welcoming and friendly, i will definitely be coming back!! read more

I came to see Iris (yes we have the same name haha!) after finding her on instagram and decided to give her and salon a whirl since I liked how she did color corrections and did dimensional brunettes. Let me start off by saying that I am die hard loyal to my other salon but wanted to explore my options. Upon arrival, it took a little to get noticed but was helped and OMG the salon is soo cute! Everything is decorated really modern and feminine and over all super cute. On to the actual service, I explained to Iris what I wanted and she totally got it. I came in with faded grey hair that was a total mess and she was able to turn it back to a dark brown with some dimension. She didnt even seem at all worried or phased about doing the correction which is A+ to me because I honestly didnt think it could be done. She seemed very talented and knew what she was doing. Prices are also decent here, cheaper than what other salons charge but also not a bargain. However the quality of work and atmosphere totally reflect the price so im okay with it. -1 star for two reasons. Reason 1 being that Iris has an assistant (total sweetheart) and works on other clients while doing your hair. Her booking and having an assistant doesnt interfere too much with her paying attention to you , but sometimes i felt her assistant doing what i thought she should do. But maybe im just bourgie bcuz my other salon only takes 1 client at a time. So i could just be being extra ;) Reason 2: another stylist, idk her name, she had short silver hair i believe, was talking crap on a late client and how it was so annoying etc etc. I completely understand that it is annoying and they have a schedule and other appts to follow, but try not to express your emotions that way especially infront of other clients. It gives a bad vibe and made me really uncomfortable. Overall ill definitely be back to this salon and seeing Iris :) read more

I don't usually post reviews, unless something is really wrong. I had haircut and balayage done, but I'm not happy with the results. The color looked ok when she styled it. My hairstylist name was Karina. My hair now looks orangy brown and I don't know if the stylist did a mistake or just didn't know what she was doing because the other clients pictures she posted on instagram look good and professional. I haven't dyed my hair for the last 3 years, so I was really hoping I would get a nice light brown balayage color, but the stylist told me the bleach came out a little too harsh on me because I have virgin hair. She told me, it would get lighter with time, as I told her I don't want orangey or blond color. I don't think I will be coming back to this salon. I paid 200 for both hair color and hair cut plus tip, but I don't think it was worth it. read more

I would NOT RECOMMEND IRIS. I recently had an appointment with her wherein she cut my hair length from very long to just above my shoulder. The haircut was terrible! One of the worst haircuts I have ever paid for and to make matters worse, the texture of my hair was like straw. I went to an experienced stylist/colorist last Saturday and she gave me a PRECISION haircut and is helping me fix my color and hair texture, which will take a couple of sessions to repair. I am not one to write reviews, although I read them all of the time when I am researching new services, but I felt that it was important to let other consumers know about my experience with Iris. I paid $185 for an awful haircut, color, partial highlights and style, which took her and an assistant 5 hours to complete, plus a $60 tip and when I contacted her for help, she was not very accommodating. read more

I just visited this new salon for the first time, and I am in love! Such a classy, cute salon! They have the most darling little coffee bar & the most darling decor. I had my hair dyed, blow dried, and curled - by Jessica Bird. I couldn't love it more! She is amazing & a hair wizard! She was very precise, offered suggestions, and took her time (something that is so appreciated)! Can't wait to come back. My sister, mom, and sister in law - all come here, too! Upon hearing us girls rave about Jessica Bird (we all go to her!) - my dad is even now insisting, that he is going to go, too! Thanks Jessica Bird, we love you & The Painted Nest Studio!
