Just returned from a private polo lesson at Stonebriar Polo Club. The field is in a very…read morepicturesque location and is in great shape. No large divots to worry about on the field itself. The horses were very well mannered and well taken care of as was the equipment. Vic was my instructor. He is a very pleasant young man whom is very knowledgeable about the sport. He has been playing polo since he was 13 years old. He started the lesson by taking the time to explain the game itself, safety and strategies of the game. We then moved onto the equipment and how to properly hold and use the mallet. We practiced first on land each different type of swing (half vs full swing) and then we moved onto horseback. I rode Gordita. She was extremely responsive and well mannered. We practiced each type of swing and a couple of the different defense maneuvers from horseback, first from a walk and building up to cantering if you are an experienced enough rider. If you have a riding helmet or a bicycle helmet you may want to bring it with you. If you do not have one you will be provided with one. I would say that you will get the most out of this if you are somewhat comfortable with horseback riding. I had not been on horseback in nearly 20 years and it was like riding a bike thanks to a great horse and great instruction. HIGHLY recommend Stonebriar Polo Club if you are anxious to get back on a horse and learn something new to boot!

Interactions seem much smoother when there's consistency in showing up. "If you're a No-Show please don't hesitate to contact management to reschedule, as I've had to do it once or twice." Please don't come in on days you're not scheduled (I learned this the hard way, they only have so many horses to let people train on). The trainers plan their day around the schedule, and unexpected arrivals cause confusion. Ive been taking lessons here as a beginner and the Trainers are very helpful on what you need to improve and give helpful tips on how to correct your mistakes. The lesson programs they offer are very well priced for learning how to ride. They have Trainers for every style of riding from Dressage, Western, English, and more. Also, the boarding is very reasonably priced, especially compared to other places around. It's honestly hard to find something this affordable without sacrificing the basics. If you're looking for a place to take lessons, board your horse, or do both, this is a solid option. The ranch has a comfortable, welcoming feel, and it works well for riders who want a consistent place to ride and care for their horse. I'd definitely recommend CJ's Legacy Ranch to anyone looking for lessons or boarding.

I got to watch Shannon work with her newest young riders. If you want not only a great environment for your kids to beome excellent riders, but also great women and men, SKS is the perfect place. No cookie cutter training, Shannon gets to know each rider and creates a plan to ensure they succeed. The kids learn to care for their horses and do the work necessary to bond with them. Her riders consistently win championships and improve with every ride. They never get yelled at. Shannon trains the Zone 7 IEA team and almost always goes to the finals in team and individual categories. I can't express enough, how much my daughter benefitted from riding with Shannon. She cares about each girl and she cares about the horses. Horses at SKS get the best care and get to enjoy turnout, which they love and need. I never worry about our horses. Shannon knows everyone and has helped us buy and sell horses and she knows what she is doing. SKS is in Krum, easy to get to, just off I-35. It is an easy drive for really excellent training and a family environment. And financially SKS is fair and very reasonable making it easier to pay for shows. My invoices are always accurate and on time and Shannon makes it all very easy! First barn we have been at where I don't have to reconcile every charge and wonder why my vet bill is so high. SKS is a great choice.
