They were piled up in a little basket next to the register, and we found the ratio of spam to rice to be just perfect. Also the shape was new to us; there is a thin slice of spam between two piles of rice, all wrapped in a piece of seaweed. In comparison, we had the spam musubi at Local Food, and didn't like it as much, we found the spam too thick and the seaweed seasoning on the rice (comes in a little shaker at Japanese supermarkets) to be strange.

Over the course of over one-hundred years, the Nagasako family has built up a reputation for being generous and supportive of the community and going out of the way to help others. During the plantation era, they would visit camps, collect orders, and make deliveries; they allowed families to open charge accounts so that those who were struggling could feed their families during tough times; and they donated candy and fruit to the annual Christmas Parade for Santa to pass out. We were trying to eat at 808 grindz but were worried about timing so we went to Nagasako after I scouted inside and saw stuff we could eat for breakfast. I love their T-shirts and went back to buy one after leaving and already feeling like I would be missing out if I left without it. We ended up with a whole grab bag of food we ate out of the back of our SUV rental. Spam Musubis were great and there was a whole pile of them at 8 am. They had fried rice early as well and it came with a Filipino red hot dog that actually paired pretty well with the rice. Lumpias were not too salty and nice and crunchy, came with a sweet and sour dipping sauce. Kids did not like the BBQ pork bun but my wife and I devoured it.

This particular Whalers is at the Shops of Wailea. I was in search of a specific set of Island Essence lotions/oils that a friend requested. I knew Whaler's would have them, and indeed they did. However, the price went up substantially. I really had no choice but to buy them anyway since my friend wanted them and was paying for them. I will always visit a Whaler's General Store when presented the opportunity.

We could not help ourselves to eat it all in one sitting. The two people selling it were the people that made it. They were very friendly. Roadside stand consisted of a table and a square tent in a parking lot with the ocean behind them. I am guessing the small bag was a quarter pound and the large bag was a half pound.
