Cielo Stone And Tile - Cielo's disorganization left me without a kitchen for 4 months.

Cielo Stone And Tile

(6 reviews)

Cielo Stone & Tile (CS&T) Cielo Kitchens & Baths (CK&B)…read moreCielo Residential Design & Construction (CRD&C) 6370 US Hwy 1, N. Building 9, St. Augustine, FL. Kathleen Ann Larriviere is the registered owner of these companies. I hired CS&T based on a sponsored ad in St. Aug's Social Magazine. Owner touted "one stop shopping" inferring that Cielo could design, provide material and construct. They can't. My kitchen remodel was simple, same footprint w/minor changes to plumbing/electrical. I paid CS&T for cabinets (and installation) and countertops (material, fabrication, and installation). I paid Cielo Residential Design & Construction for electrical/plumbing work. The job was fraught with problems. ACCOUNTING ERRORS: They were egregious. Problems included double billing for cabinets/materials, charging for work not done and charging for erroneous supplies. These errors were systemic, ALL invoices were wrong, ALL errors favored Cielo. Based on a previous review, this is the norm. CS&T double billed for cabinets more than $4k. Getting a refund was like pulling teeth. Owner vehemently pushed back. I provided extensive documentation comparing Cielo's work orders, estimates including multiple spreadsheets. 53 pages of documentation in all. $3.1k was refunded. I was not provided with any documentation to substantiate the refund. This was not the correct amount, but I was relieved that I got a partial refund. DISORGANIZATION: In early May we contacted CS&T. We received 3 different quotes for cabinets. First quote was the lowest, the second quote was 2x the first quote ... we finally settled on a price in between the two. It took 6 weeks to finalize the cabinets and order. Cabinets were installed mid-October. The countertop installation should have immediately followed. Countertops were paid for mid-November. In January I was notified that we needed 5 slabs. How could an estimate be off by 3 slabs? Cost, availability, consistency of color, forced me to choose another product that was readily available. This was disappointing because my kitchen was designed around the countertop color. I spent $15k+ on tile, rug, and artwork. CS&T'S SUBCONTRACTOR: CS&T's owner recommended My Granite Guys (MGG) as a source for countertop material, fabrication, and installation. MGG's installation in January was disastrous. 4 out of 5 slabs had to be removed/refabricated. Reinstallation was in early February. This was problematic as well. MGG ONLY guarantees the installation for 24 HOURS. Because I had major surgery, I did not immediately notice problems with countertops. Neither MMG nor CS&T will take responsibility for these problems. CS&T's owner has stated CS&T is not responsible for the countertops for two reasons: #1: Owner insists I am a client of MGG. That's not true. MGG does not sell retail, the quote was sent to CK&B; they paid MGG. I paid CS&T. #2: Payment and Installation Sign Off Agreement. CS&T's owner insists because my daughter (a disinterested party) signed this document it absolved CS&T of any responsibility. Not true. See photo attached with explanation. Cielo's owner summed it up in a snarky email sent to MGG: "Here is more from XXXXX. She really needs to go away!" Because of blatant errors in billing, disorganization, lack of accountability and substandard work, I do not recommend doing business with any company that has ties to Kathleen Ann Larriviere or MGG. I have left a separate review for MGG.

Please use caution when doing business with Cielo Stone and Tile and their associated Cielo…read morebusinesses, which all operate out of this location. The owner of Cielo advertises her stone, tile, contracting and design businesses as a "one stop shop" The owner of Cielo stone is also a contractor- be careful when you do business with this stone store as you may be offered her contracting services. Over $1300 in "accounting errors" and overpurchasing of materials coupled with very poor workmanship and disorganization over the course of five months was the end result of my experience w Cielo. The $1300 is just what I caught. The poor workmanship and design flaws will cost me far more than $1300 in the long run. Many questionable business practice examples: Cielo charged $462 for a 4 piece stone pattern -when they ordered a 3 piece pattern and installed a 2 piece pattern without my knowledge or approval. The owner of Cielo who is also a contractor provided an strange explanation of why I was billed for a 4 piece pattern- yet a 2 piece pattern was installed. She said a 4 piece pattern and a two piece pattern are the same thing. The invoice from Cielo just says "4 piece pattern" with no sizes listed. In retrospect, a very odd way to invoice any purchase. This incorrect pattern was installed without being cut to fit on the panels. The stone was hanging several inches over the edges as the pictures show. There was also another $71.98 (35.99 x2) charge for 600 tile spacers that sell for less than $3 a pack at Home Depot. They refused to refund for this overcharge. 600 tile spacers for less than 60 pieces of stone? The owner claims she credited me for this- another unfortunate untruth. The picture of the paid invoice is with the photos. Because Cielo was also the contractor- I was forced to pay these invoices from the stone store. Being overcharged for tile spacers alone is not a big deal-but when you combine this with dozens of other overcharges and "accounting errors" from being- *double charged for a building permit to charged twice for materials and the total exceeds $1300 - it is very concerning. The owner of Cielo ordered an 18 inch cabinet to fit around a 19 inch sink. She did not make us pay for her mistake on this. However, this was after 30k had already been paid for a poorly executed partial job with extensive flaws that the pictures attached illustrate. The amount of money I was overcharged by Cielo stone was a very small part of what I was overcharged by the Cielo owner. The overarching issue is the very questionable business practices the owner has repeatedly demonstrated and very poor workmanship that she allowed to persist. The owner will likely pick and choose which issues she wants to address. Some of the issues she will avoid addressing are: 1. The very poor workmanship of the 13 foot counter framing done lower than the existing travertine allowing water to pool, the asymmetrical framing and odd shim. (the pictures show this) She never provided a true scale plan that included the counter area cutouts even after requesting this. Her labor had to wing the framing because she provided no plan to follow. 2. She also won't address how it took 41 hours ($2400) in labor costs to rough frame this poorly constructed counter plus $1500 in materials. The pictures attached show the poor workmanship of the $4000 framing job. On top of the 4K for rough framing the 13 foot counter there were also significant charges for project managment. See pictures for examples of the excessive material purchases and poor quality of framing. 3. She will never verify the actual amount per hour she pays her labor. Our agreement was her cost plus 20%. She charged $50 an hour plus 20% ($60) for this labor without ever providing proof of what her cost was. High labor costs for very poor workmanship is not reasonable. See the pictures. Check any receipt from Cielo very carefully and also check prices with other retailers. The owner of Cielo has other disappointed customers that can be verified on build zoom. Would also recommend the better business bureau as a place to do research. Unfortunately, The owner has a habit of blaming customers for her mistakes. In the end, the pictures of her work speak for itself.

The design that April did for us was beautiful and her vision was stellar. However, the execution…read moreof her plan left a lot to be desired. Although she insisted that she was going to manage the project, she didn't, and this led to so many mistakes and issues that we are dealing with months later. Her cabinet maker, Edi, also does great work...but when the guys installing the faucet are using screws that are too long, and they break through the cabinet on the other (visible) side, it's hard to appreciate how nice the cabinets are. The countertop was installed with the top of the cabinet showing by an eighth of an inch (of course you shouldn't be able to see the top of the cabinet at all) so the entire island countertop had to be repositioned. They did, but they didn't realign the sink properly. So months later, one side of the undermount sink disconnected from where it was attached and fell down. I have dents in my stainless steel fridge from their carelessness; I have joints in the floor they installed that have gaps and pop up; I have a faucet that was installed with the wrong screws, so now it leaks all the time. I worry about what the next few months will bring and how many other things will need to be repaired. The saying goes that you can't soar with the eagles when you're surrounded by turkeys. April has the vision to soar with eagles, but she's surrounded herself with turkeys.

We bought a new house and hired April O'Brien, owner of Interiors by Studio A, to do some updating…read morefor us.  Our project was relatively extensive and included replacing most of the flooring throughout the house, a complete revamping of the master and guest bathrooms, and some updates in the kitchen.  For our first in-person meet up she was over an hour late but once she arrived we walked through the house and talked about everything I wanted done.  I loved her energy and her ideas and everything she told me about how she runs her projects.  I was excited to get started and after negotiating costs her crew started demolition on Sept 1.  That weekend I went to her studio to pick out materials and she told me she should have everything complete within 4 weeks.  It's now March 1 and the project is still not complete.  Her crew painted themselves into a corner while laying the flooring and kicked out a window screen to get out of the house.  They were also using the water from our hot tub to make the mortar for the flooring while the water was shut off at the house for plumbing work.  This caused us to have to drain the hot tub and pay someone to come in and clean it due to the residue that was left.  We had our kitchen cabinets painted and she told us that the contractor would take the doors off to take to his shop to put a lacquer coating on and bake them to ensure durability. The guy came and spray painted our cabinets which she assures me has a lacquer finish but is not what she told me would happen.  Now with daily use we've discovered that the paint easily comes off with just wiping and the painter did not clean the bases before spray painting so all the gunk that was there from the previous owners is now painted on and keeps the paint from adhering to the surface.  The previous owner used flooring for wall covering around the kitchen island that we had her remove.  She then put sheets of drywall on top of what was already there because her team was unable to get the glue off the wall. This caused us to not be able to install cover plates over the outlets on the island because the wall is so thick and the outlets are too far recessed into the wall.  She also tore down a soffit that was above the island and replaced it with three pendant lights but did not use the wiring for the lights that were already in the soffit and instead wired the pendant lights to the rest of the kitchen lights making them all operate on one switch.  When taking out the flooring, her demo team tore out the tile around the fireplace as well which was not part of the job and ended up costing us an additional $250 to replace.  The faux marble floor tiles in the master bath were laid at different heights which looks like an inexperienced DIY job.  Her demo team broke the master bath vanities but did not say anything, the cabinet painter painted them for $500 and the countertop vendor laid the counters on them causing one counter to break in half.  The vanities ended up needing replaced costing us an additional $1500 and wasting the money we already spent having them painted.  We even had one of her contractors show up at my house asking if I knew how to reach her because they were trying to find her for payment of a job they did 2 months prior at our house.  Some touch up painting jobs that they had to do in both bathrooms were done with different finishes which looks like two different color paints (see pictures) so now we have to find someone to repaint both bathrooms.  I will say that we love her designs, she is a very talented woman.  But we will not hire her again nor recommend her to our friends.  Her lack of oversight on the job cost us time and money and now with the job still incomplete she has stopped responding to our texts (my window screen still needs replaced and she's left unsanded & unpainted wall repair patches in the master bathroom).  She has been paid in full since October and our 4 week project is now at 6 months and still not complete.  We are very unhappy with the quality of the work.  The design is great but is lost in the details and unfinished look from sub-par work.

My name is Michelle and I am posting a review for the company closet kitchens & more located at…read more10930 US1 N. suite B Ponte Vedra, FL 32081. My significant other and I came to the storeroom to get information regarding an estimate and information about kitchen remodeling we were ready to proceed picked out cabinet color and countertop. The initial experience was ok we were greeted by staff in a friendly manner and was quickly informed by Paige who said she has been in the organization for 3 years Paige shared that a $250.00 measurement and design fee would be needed before proceeding/ Andrew the staff member would have to come and get the measurements for the kitchen we paid the $250.00 fee and were very excited for the new experience of soon getting a new kitchen remodel . The staff member Andrew came to our home took the measurements off what we thought was the kitchen and appliances and drew a diagram Andrew was at our home for about 40 or so minutes. A few days later Paige texted me noting that we "the customer" need to provide details about measurements "12 items or so" such as our refrigerator, range dishwasher microwave, sink, ect....I explained to Paige that Andrew the staff was suppose to get all the measurements for $250.00. Page mentioned over the phone that she just likes to verify the information because often times the measurements are not correct from staff and she wanted to get the measurements from me the customer. I mention that were paying $250.00 for the measurements/design so we expect that the staff Andrews measurements are correct. I mentioned to Paige that I want a copy of the total measurements which was never provided. This was a sign that something was not right after we paid $250.00 and measurements of our appliances had to be verify by myself which was very time-consuming. The next step in the process was to come-into the store and discuss the design we came in to the Ponte Vedra location Wednesday, April 12, 2023 to discuss the design we thought everything was going ok we got a basic estimate which was around 10, 000 until additional fees began to add up the price total ended up to be almost 18,000--19,000. My husband and I wanted to proceed however, we were told by Paige that all money needs be paid up front for materials which total 18,000----19, 000 we shared our reluctance and asked if some money could be paid and the remainder paid after the job is completed "we were told no and that Paige would reach out to her supervisor." We told Paige that we needed one day to think about the direction/ payment and I would call her in the morning. The next day I reached out to Paige to let her know we were not comfortable paying all money up front Paige said there was nothing she could do she already let her supervisor know and the supervisor would call me back. No phone call received so I came back up the closet, kitchen, & more location to speak to the supervisor. I spoke to Robert Musella "they mentioned he is the supervisor" Robert mentioned he was sorry for not getting back sooner and that he apologizes for the mis-information because Paige is new only in the organization for 3 months. Paige was fairly new only working in the organization for a few months and she was not knowledgeable on the process/ miscommunication Robert mentioned that we do not have to put up all the money up. I mentioned to Robert my appreciation however, at this point we were not comfortable with proceeding because we no longer had trust in the companies ability to provide quality service and the only thing I wanted was what we paid for 250.00 for measurement and design fee he refused and later agreed to just refund the $250.00 back. . I mentioned to Robert that I did not have the credit card with me and would it be ok to come back the following day to have the $250.00 put back on my husband's credit card. Robert agreed I sent a message to Paige letting her know we would be getting the money back. My husband came in and I also came back to the store to receive a credit for the $250.00 paid. We were told by staff that they were not able to assist, and they were not going to reach out to the supervisor to inform the supervisor of the request or to schedule a better time to come in the get the money back. 4/24/23 12PM: Staff Andrew gave me a phone number for Robert which was not the correct number listed on a business card. I went back into the store and Andrew corrected the number said it was to reach Robert when I call the number it was to the same staff members I was speaking with at the desk where Andrew was already at the desk....Andrew mentioned that there is nothing he can do see attached

We went and having no idea what we wanted or how we were going to get it done. Tara and Robert were so great listening to my wife's wants and needs. My kitchen turned out beautiful, The countertop they helped us select is the focal point of our house. They were very professional and we did not have to wait months to get a new kitchen. The only thing when buying a kitchen there is a little bit of a pain is getting the countertop installed. Because once your cabinets go in and they take out your old kitchen you have no kitchen sink. Once the cabinets are installed then the template guy comes and templates for your countertop. which leaves you with no sink while this process is happening. The store told us The process so it was not a surprise so we prepared for it. It took about five days after the cabinets were installed for the countertop guys to come back and install the countertop. If I can give you any advice it would be to bring a piece of paper with you and write down everything because they tell you every single step but it is hard to remember everything that is told to you. But as long as you know the process you can plan accordingly. I highly recommend this company
