Outstanding, exemplary service !…read more A few weeks back while sitting in my breakfast room, I noticed the ceiling fan had stopped running. I procrastinated calling American Home Shield as the temps were still relatively Spring like. Finally contacted AHS on Wednesday 05/16; Lauren @ Hopwood promptly called me the next morning and scheduled the appointment for the next day, Friday 05/18, and was most accommodating to my schedule. My window of time (I do always dread those windows of time) was 0900-1200. Trevor, the electrician, called @ 0840 and said he'd be there in 30-40 minutes. He arrived @ 0905! What a nice friendly young man. YAY, off to a great start. He was so kind to move my table & chairs to get access to the fan, as they are so heavy & almost impossible for me to pick up. Trevor quickly identified the problem, a bad capacitor. I learned something new that day; he explained in terms I could understand; this little black thingy is what powers the fan. He was not optimistic this would resolve the problem, probably only a 50% chance it would. He offered me options (add'l cost) for upgrading a new fan as AHS would only replace the old fan with a subpar model compared to what I had. A very reasonable price so I opted for that. He said he would order the part and probably be back in a week or so. Due to the holiday weekend which delayed receipt of the part, Trevor returned on Thursday 05/31. The new capacitor did not resolve the problem, the fan had just aged out from many years of use. Luckily, he had prepared for that and brought a new fan just in case. I was very pleased w/his selection, so he proceeded to remove the old fan and install the new one. It was a fairly quick process and in no time I had wonderful cool air circulating in the kitchen. His attention to every detail was excellent, even placing my old fan in the garage, putting light bulbs in the new fan and gathering up all the packing material from the new fan. I couldn't have been more pleased with this transaction. AHS did great by assigning Hopwood to this job, and Hopwood did great by assigning Trevor to take care of the problem. A very strong 5 stars for sure. KUDOS to Trevor for a job very well done. I'd definitely call upon Hopwood if I ever have a need for a great electrician!
