Just had lunch here with my wife this past Saturday. The lady at the front was very nice and attentive, and both the panini and pizza were excellent. The food itself was really impressive. Unfortunately, I have one major complaint. The background music was rap with extremely explicit language. Every bad word you can imagine was being played openly throughout the restaurant. It was completely inappropriate for a place where families come in to sit down and enjoy a meal. Had I been there with a small child, I would have asked them to turn it off or simply left. Whatever someone's taste in music may be, there is a time and place for explicit lyrics, and a family-oriented restaurant during lunch is not it. Great food and very nice service at the front, but the choice of background music really took away from the experience. Management needs to do better with this. read more

We catered food from here and it was phenomenal! We had two large salads. One Caesar and the other was with black olives, tomatoes, cucumber, mozzarella etc. Then we also had a variety of sandwich wraps. The cookies..... oh the cookies... delicious. I really enjoyed the food from this place. I ordered it for catering for my job and I am used to not getting the best quality with large quantity foods so I was happy to see how good everything looked. My first job was a teller at Ocean Bank located in Kendall and 109 ave, during that era of my life I used to order amazing pizzas from the Big Tomato. They closed and I found out that they moved to Pinecreast and decided to relive my college year and order a pie with my usual topping black olives. I picked it up and and ate it but sadly it was not the same. They still had it chewy tips but the bread was too thick and not crunchy. I love big tomato. I've always found this to be my go to pizza. I always get the same thing, a 10" cheese pizza or pepperoni. As well as sometimes get the Caesar Salad which is one of my favorite salads! Unfortunately recently their quality has decreased as well as the customer service. I placed a delivery order for a 10" cheese pizza and the entire dough was completely raw. I complained through Uber eats. But I also decided to call the restaurant just to give them a heads up that the entire pizza was raw and their response made the entire situation worse. The lady that answered the phone apologized then proceeded to blame me for asking for extra cheese and that it was the reason the dough was undercooked. Then suggested that I made a request for the pizza to be well done in the future. I didn't need my pizza to be well done, I just needed it to be cooked thoroughly. I have ordered the same thing for a long time and this has never been an issue. So blaming the customer for a restaurant issue was not acceptable. A simple apology would've sufficed. read more

Came here for a quick bite to eat. I have passed this place for years and never stopped to try it. My SO and I shared a cheese pie. The first thing I noticed when we got our pie was the amount of grease pooled at the top. I am not talking just a bit...I am talking about a significant amount. I took lots of napkins and proceeded to blot as much as I could off of it. I feel guilty enough about eating pizza! After that it was just plain goodness. It was cheesy and saucy. Growing up in the Pinecrest area, the Big Tomato has been a long time favorite for me and my family go-to spot for pizza. It definitely is my favorite local pizza joint and the only place in the area where I'll eat deep dish, Chicago-styled pizza. The Big Tomato is doing everything about pizza right! They have every topping you can think of and creative mixes of these toppings you really can't find anywhere else. A Thai pizza or Mexican pizza? Sound gross? Its absolutely delicious! I ordered the Santa Fe Sensation: salsa, chicken, fresh tomatoes, jalapeños, mozzarella, parmesan and gorgonzola. And if you like more classic pizzas their Margherita isn't the typical and one of my favorites; pesto, fresh tomatoes, sweet onions, artichokes, gouda and parmesan cheese. Unique and super tasty pizza that is always full of fresh made flavor! I have been a loyal customer for years. But, just recently, with my diagnosis and the cauliflower crust craze, I am a SUPER FAN! They make any of their pizzas on the yummy and crunchy gluten free crust; very much like a toasty flatbread. The Cauliflower crust I choose for a great low carb option. It's not as crunchy as the GF, but for a cauliflower-crust, it's a lot crunchier than anything else I have had. My husband had a new sandwich, the Turkey Pesto Panini. He loved the pesto flavor and the crunch of the bread. I change it up a lot. The Margherita is a usual order for me. Tonight, I chose the Italian and it might just replace the Margherita for 1st place. The sausage has a nice kick and the pepperoni was really fresh. We picked up tonight, but their delivery service is top notch. Customer service just tops off the delicious food. This place has been around for over two decades, at one point they were trying to expand into franchising, but unfortunately it never took off, and this place remains a hidden gem in a quiet strip plaza. My hubby prefers thick crust pizza, and with limited choices in Miami, this place is as good as it gets. I love how the toppings and cheese go all the way to the edge, so there's no leftover crust. In fact, the crispy bottom and the baked cheese at the edge is so delicious! Besides the usual suspects of toppings, this place has out-of-ordinary pies like Jamaican jerk, Tangy Thai, (used to have a Taj Mahal too) before such things are popular. The pies arrive piping hot at your table, and even as we cut apart the last slices, we can see smoke coming out. For beverage, they have a cooler with the usual soft drinks, plus Boylan soda, Arizona iced tea, Honest Tea, and more. Over the years, I think this place has changed hands several times, and the decor updated once in a while. It's been way too long since I've been here. So last night I told my husband that we're having pizza for dinner tomorrow from the Big Tomato. I picked up two pies on my way home. I got a cheese pizza and a Santa Fe pizza. Both 10 inches. The cheese pizza was only $5 because they have a special on Monday through Thursday from 3-5 pm where a 10" cheese pizza is only $5 and a 10" pepperoni pizza is only $6!! Awful, awful experience! Came by for lunch and the lady at the front was the absolutely WORST! First, she talked to you like you're being a bother. I understand that it's busy, but I'm your customer and you can at least greet me. Secondly, I ordered the "traditional" pizza with GF crust. She didn't give me the detailed receipt so I assumed she got it right. She came back and gave me a pizza with large tomato chunks and pineapple which I hate hot pineapple. She goes and says "that's what you told me." No it's not! I know exactly what I ordered and I would never order the "original" with pineapple. I always get the traditional. I ask her just to pack it up bc I'm sure there's someone on the street that could eat it. She goes and complains to the other people working there that I ordered the wrong pizza. They're not deep dish and they're not new york style... they're somewhere in between. -Jalapeno and Cheese Mini-Loaf: Plenty of Jalapenos, nice and spicy. Also has plenty of cheese. -Cheese and Herb Mini-Loaf: Packed with gooey cheese. The min loafs are frickin awesome! They're under $4 but they're so thick and full of cheese. The mini loafs are a great value, i'm a huge fan of those. - Reese's Peanut Butter Pie- This was amazing. The only downfall was the small ass slice that it is sold in. I HATE small ass portions.. and this cheesecake was a small ass portion. But the flavors were so frickin good I want to order it again. Supposedly they get this pie form somewhere in Coral Springs. The whole reason I wanted to come here is because I read the rave reviews about the whole wheat crust, so I come here . . . AND FORGET TO ORDER THE WHOLE WHEAT CRUST!!! Ugh, of course!!! I was starving, though, and a little overwhelmed by the options! Still, my husband & I decided on a 10" "most popular" and took a seat. I believe we got our pizza in under 10 minutes or so, which was great. I do think that almost $10 is a little much considering the size of the pizza, but it's made fresh, totally customizable and tastes really good! Salads, delish pizza,roll ups and soup. My favorite is the "Big Tomato Chef Salad" which is served in a terribly delicious bread bowl and with lemon herb garlic, this is the best salad I know. The mushroom Brie bisque is so flavorful and creamy - I'm not a soup person and I love this soup. They have a variety of soft drinks (my fav is the IBC root beer in a bottle). This little treasure in the heart of pinecrest is where you want to go if you're in the mood for delicious gourmet pizzas. If pizza with red sauce gives you heart burn like it does me, then you have GOT to try the Pesto Passion Pizza with Gorgonzola, pesto and mozzarella. Out of control. If red sauce doesn't reek havoc on the lining of your stomach then the megabite pizza is def the way to go. Now, the unsung hero of this place is their panini selection. Everything had a very sour taste, even the pickle didn't taste right. The best part of the meal tonight was the bread bowl. As far as the chicken there wasn't much at all.
