Caught Larkin Poe at The Orange Peel recently and had an awesome time. Drinks were strong and affordable. Parking was surprisingly easy with plenty of paid lots nearby. Staff were super nice, and the speakeasy downstairs was a cool surprise with a live view of the show. Only downside: couldn't bring my drink from downstairs to the main venue, even if in a plastic cup. That giant ceiling fan, though? MVP. Even with a sold-out crowd, I never felt hot. Great venue--would definitely come back!

Such a wonderful first time experience vibing with Reggae artist Protoje. The venue is small but sound quality is superb and close to the featured artist. They have a vast craft beer selection. Why not treat yoself to a show

Came to see Veni Sun, Surfer Girl & The Elovaters. 1st time at The Orange Peel. The line outside moved pretty fast & the flow by staff was efficient. Decent space & stage. The set up here is good, easily accessible bathrooms and a bar on each side of the venue. There's a huge selection of Bourbon with a full bar in the Lounge down in the basement. Weird you can't bring upstairs drinks downstairs and vice versa though. The staff was all friendly. All in all it was a decent time. Event crew did a decent job of watching the crowd, constantly switching out by the stage. Unfortunately there is always those select drunk girls at every concert that like to bump into everyone around them while they do the drunk dance. I wish there was an area just for them or event crew could quarantine them so it didn't ruin events for the ones able to hold their alcohol.

Cool venue. I attended a Heavy music festival here and they did a good job running the event smoothly. The event was almost sold out so packed. They checked people in quickly, the drink lines were quick. They have a huge fan over head, so you stayed fairly cool and comfortable through. The bands sets started on time. everyone was supper friendly. We will be back.

I really enjoyed this venue. I've been meaning to get to it, and I finally went this weekend to see the band Joseph. It is a small venue, and we got in around 30 minutes after the doors closed and got a spot just a few rows back from the stage. The band was incredible, and the acoustics were great. The venue is conveniently located close to a lot of things in downtown Asheville. It is right next door to Wicked Weed, where we went for dinner and drinks beforehand. There are also parking garages within a short walking distance.

Bought an insider's membership for $100 because it lets you "skip any line that may have formed." I emailed a few weeks before the first show I'd be using the perk to ensure the procedure. Was told to show up and I'd be accommodated. The day of the show, I went to the box office when it opened and verified again that everything was fine. Was told that I should come back exactly at doors (7 pm) and I'd be let in. Arrived back at venue at 7. Other insider members were already lined up and informed me that management was going to let in the first group of the line that had formed at 3 am before the insiders. Talked to staff again and was told it was being done to prevent a riot from happening. At door time, there was absolutely no order and people rushed into the venue. The perk was absolutely worthless and I don't appreciate being gaslit about it. Manager was rude and uncaring. Will not be back to this venue and have already started the process of trying to obtain a refund.

We've lived here for three years and no longer being late-night partiers, have been waiting for the right opportunity to visit The Orange Peel. Asheville's inaugural AVLFest musical festival was a success, and we saw our new favorite band Saturday afternoon. Mama and The Ruckus warmed up the crowd here before playing a set at another venue later in the evening. They also have a great selection of beverages.

Modeled at a sold out runway show here for charity. It was amazing! I love Asheville. Have also seen many concerts here. Always good times.

Loved this venue!! The space felt big, yet also intimidate? We saw Courtney Barnett play and the sound was simply incredible. I'm embarrassed to say that I even cried during one of her songs. Time flew by while we were here. I could have stood in the middle of that floor looking up at Courtney on stage for hours. We stayed at The Foundry Hotel down the street and walked both to dinner and to the show. It was epic. I hope to see more shows here in the future.

Super awesome venue in Asheville. Great selection of beer, liquor, and NA options as well. Very spacious inside, and there's a speakeasy bar downstairs as well. Always a pleasure seeing a show here.

I have been here many times-mostly for pop up craft/art shows, once for a 20's themed birthday party and most importantly, for my own wedding rehearsal dinner. Renting the space for the rehearsal dinner was easy and the owners were super helpful and accommodating. Their contract is very clear and their prices are very, very reasonable! We had 50 people total for the event and when we arrived the night of the party, they had the space set up for us with their dining tables and lovely chairs arranged as well as a serving station and bar area. Their furniture is what makes this place so incredible really-they have absolutely beautiful mismatched furniture, vintage and rustic looking. This is the type of space that you see all over Pinterest. I recommend this place to everyone who is looking for a small event venue for a wedding or birthday party. I was told that renting it out on a weekday is super reasonable- only $65 an hour. You can't beat that! I love hosting large parties at my home, but I can never fit the amount of guests that I want in my tiny little home. Anyway, the venue was set up in a beautiful way- full of antique and vintage furniture items. They have restrooms, but I'm not sure if they have a kitchen. I've been told that they will set up the room however you'd like it. When I was there, they had out three very long tables and I think there were about 50 of us. They have a few parking spaces but I was able to park in the alley to the right of the building. Not sure if that's allowed. I will DEFINITELY be planning my next big event here! What a fun place!

We made a completely reasonable request - requesting that we be refunded the difference between what we booked initially and what the new event would have cost and they refused it. The entire situation left a really bad taste in our mouths and now we want nothing to do with these people. They showed themselves to be cold, cynical business people. The usual irony with…read moreFreemasonry is that these devotees of sacred architecture and geometry meet so often in shabby anonymous buildings with plate glass windows and acoustic ceiling tiles. No such irony here, friends. This particular Masonic Temple is a glorious celebration of detail and craftsmanship. Even the fuse box is beautiful, sitting in plain sight in a glass box in the stairwell, like a lost Joseph Cornell piece. Each doorknob is emblazoned with symbolism in bas relief. The ceiling is expansive, with groined arches recalling classic cathedrals. The original elevator is working, although I think most Americans don't know how to use old-style elevators anymore. The staircase is wide, and recalls the "I don't give a damn" set from Gone With the Wind. The real treasure is the 3rd floor theater. A round, domed room with a curving balcony, painted in dusky pink, chalk blue, and gilt. The acoustics are great, considering the age of the building. The star of the theater is the gorgeous backdrops. So ridiculously gorgeous, they risk upstaging whomever's performing. I've heard folklore (unsubstantiated, but believable) that these backdrops, themselves, are worth millions of dollars on today's market. Layer upon layer of hand-cut, hand-painted detail, that catches the light in amazing, dramatic ways. If you've ever been to the cyclorama in Atlanta, you might recognize a similar style, although the subject matter here isn't military stuff--it's romantic, pastoral, mystical. If you ever get a chance to go to anything at the Masonic Temple, go. Just go. Drop everything and go. Find a babysitter. Cancel your appointments. Go. Especially if you know the event will take place on the 3rd floor. You will be mindblown with awesomeness.
