I've been getting my balsamic vinegars and olive oils here for the past several years. Love this place. Try the 18 year old balsamic!

This place is a neighborhood gem. I have tried several of their recipes using special oils and vinegars, and enjoyed every one.

Parking is easy, as there is a free public lot about 50 feet away, and street parking is also available. The workers are always friendly, and often will give you cheese samples (yum). I have never had a bad sandwich here. Some favorites are the chicken salad, the prosciutto-fig-ricotta, and the sweet chorizo. Today, I ordered the Turkey club and the Sandwich of the Week, the La Tur, which had a cow, goat and sheep milk cheese with blueberry honey jam, greens and bacon. It was good, but don't get this sandwich unless you like cheeses that REALLY have that sheep flavor! There are a few small tables for 2 tucked inside by the register, and a couple of small tables outside in nice weather, but this is really more of a grab'n go place. We took these on the plane with us the next day, as we were traveling. Pro Tip: You can earn France 44 rewards at this location, just tell them you are a member when you get to the register!

It was the perfect consistency, seasoned really well, and can still taste the freshness of the tomatoes. For the melt, I got the truffle that came with double cream brie, gruyere, mushrooms, honey and black truffle. Everything was melted to perfection and the truffle was delicious without being overwhelming. The bread had a really good crunch to give some texture with the melty gooey cheese. Despite having so much cheese, it wasn't a super heavy meal. More of a take out place. There's a couple tables outside to eat but it was also really windy and hot the day I went so I ate pretty quickly.

I absolutely love the duck! The fact they had duck!! Customer service was top notch can't forget about my new buddy in the glasses. This is my MF place!! Top spot on all of the street. I'm looking forward to trying more on my next visit. Basically cleared out the hot dogs the other day and I was like the first person in the shop lol sorry but not sorry. I didn't try them before but they were damn good and shouldn't of been that damn delicious and they have that snap too. I got a chuck roast too for later in the month or maybe I'll try to do easter? Is it beef or duck that they have on Easter I wonder.. either this place is the dream spot of the MEATS (PAUSE! LOL that's me being goofy). Young and older people should fully support this place. I recently moved here but this is my JAMMY JAM!! I wonder if they had meat jam or pickled onions? Honestly somebody to build a bakery and cheese shop nearby so you just get my meat, cheese and bread all on one perfect block. Might have to find a job or buy a house near this place. If they haven't been here for 100yrs.. I hope you make it to that and another 100yrs. Btw who's the MF who made this pie?! This is the best apple pie ever had. I come from San Diego.. we're supposedly doing an apple pie considered like the best but someone was lying. This apple is delicious!! I'm coming for another pie next .. possibly this week but I need to stop spending. You BETTER have those pies on stock

St Paul Meat Shop markets themselves as St Paul's only whole animal butcher shop. One of our favorite items is the pastrami. Their pastrami is amazing! Made and smoked in house. It is sliced thin and makes a great sandwich. They also have turkey which I believe is cooked sous vide. Our last visit we picked up some skirt steak and their juicy lucy burgers. As we were checking out, there was one condiment that we forgot and it didn't appear that they had that. The very nice gentleman was able to locate some for us and helped us out. Quality and service has always been top notch.

We called around 5:30 to see if they'd seat us at 7:15 and they were able to reserve a table for us. I got the daily special which was like a chicken Parmesan but with steak. It wasn't my favorite thing because I was not expecting the steak to be thinly cut and more on the dry side. That could be my bad - I heard steak and was imagining something totally different. But it wasn't still pretty good! The noodle texture was to die for. It was $30. Drinks were delicious too and ranged from $12-$15. The only thing that I didn't love, is that they charge for every little thing. we got the focaccia and asked for olive oil and balsamic. Why was that an extra $2... $1 for olive oil and $1 for balsamic. If we hadn't ordered it, it would have been an $8 large sized muffin of focaccia - which turned into $10. Definitely not worth it. I asked for some extra Parmesan and they charged $2 for pecorino... honestly it just threw off the experience a little. And it came in the tiniest little cup. I understand maybe 50 cents but $2? Especially when we're having five drinks and three entrees between three people, realizing we were paying extra for those items on the check just was not enjoyable. I'd recommend this place to others as a great place for pasta and drinks, but pasta and drinks only. Maybe avoid asking for any thing on the side and I'd skip apps.

After purchasing bottles elsewhere and finding a dried out cork, I do appreciate the effort. I was confused about whom to ask if I wanted advice. We were quite surprised when…read morewe were out near Sunfish to discover they moved about a mile down the street from their original location. No big deal, we followed the signs and located the new location, which is tucked off the road in an odd sort of retail center. Unfortunately, we discovered that the new location shares a space with an Italian cafe or bistro type of restaurant. There is a good amount of wine available, which makes sense I guess. But the beer selection, which used to be among the best-curated and most unique in the area, is now not even worth the stop. The walk-in cooler for beer is a sad, sad state of affairs, especially if you know what the selection used to be like. Certainly, if wine is your thing, I'm sure there's something passable if you need a bottle to go with dinner or take to a party. But if you're looking for beer, move on to a different store. Hit Thomas Liquors or Ale Jail in St. Paul. Sadly, everything that made Sunfish a unique beer lovers' destination is no more. We are truly sad about it. This was one of our favorite hidden gems in the Twin Cities. As an aside, we also were not impressed by the service. When we walked in, a girl rushed up to us and asked if we needed help. I highly suspect she thought we were going to steal something. It did not make us feel welcomed. And then she straight-up lied to us. She told us that most of the beer from the old location had been brought over, which is absolutely not true. I am truly sad to say we will not be back.

The service was impeccable from start to finish. Everything felt really intentional and well timed. The food was outstanding. The rigatoni was a standout with an incredible sausage that was honestly to die for. We also had the soles de pollo, a chicken ravioli with fresh vegetables in the sauce, and the flavors were amazing. For tapas, we ordered the patatas bravas and rissoles, both were delicious. Such a thoughtful touch when they brought out churro bites at the end as a thank you. Amazing food, top tier service, and a really fun but romantic atmosphere. Estelle is a cozy spot, with candlelights and flower on each table. It is in the Mac-Groveland neighborhood so there is ample street parking nearby if you turn on any of the side streets. The restaurant does get busy at dinner, so I recommend making a reservation ahead of time. They have many unique options for cocktails and mocktails. I opted for the Slaychel which is a non-alcoholic beverage that I think of as an elevated mimosa. It is fruity, slightly tart, and delicious! The service was great! Our water was frequently refilled and never got empty, and our server asked about any allergies and dietary restrictions before we ordered. They were able to modify menu items to fit the different dietary restrictions! Two people in our party (including myself) are vegetarians and one member is gluten-free and also doesn't consume much dairy or eggs. They were able to serve the patatas bravas with the egg on the side and the grilled asparagus with the egg and cheese on the side so we were able to all share the starters. The patatas bravas were wonderful! The potatoes are perfectly crispy but still fluffy. The tomato sauce was slightly smokey and had a very slight kick (think Minnesota spice) and it balanced out well with the creamy tomato. If you're only going to try one appetizer, this is the one to try! The asparagus was also nice. The salsa verde had a slight kick (a bit more than the tomato sauce from the patatas bravas, but not super spicy. Still Minnesota level of spice). The shallots also added a nice crispy texture to the dish! The egg really stood out in this dish, with its runny yolk and batter coating. There were a lot of nice elements and textures. As for pastas, I split the Spaghetti and Radiatore with a friend. The Radiatore was nutty and tangy, and the serving size was generous. I enjoyed it, but I would order the Spaghetti over it any day! I don't even know how to describe the Spaghetti and do it justice. It was creamy, cheesy, delicious. Our server said it was a staff favorite, and I understand why. If you're looking for a vegetarian option, go with this one!! Even if you aren't a vegetarian, give it a try. It's so classic, and it's done so well. For dessert: they give free churros when you're dining in! They are served warm with a chocolate drizzle. We also ordered the Honey Cake which we enjoyed a lot! The cake itself was light, like a mousse. There was some crunch from the hazelnut praline and honeycomb toffee pieces. It was nutty and sweet but not overly sweet. It was a perfect way to finish off the meal! Estelle was delicious and the service was great! I can't wait to come back!
