Asparagus, wrapped in Parma ham topped with a golden tolled egg. Delicious. For the main, I went for home made corned beef hash. Brined brisket of beef, slow cooked with beetroot, (mainly to add colour), with a perfect egg on top. 10/10. It's not of the evening menu - apparently it's not good enough - but IF you ask nicely.... Desserts are known to be great here. You won't get a better chocolate brownie. Last night I went for an orange/almond cake with orange coulis/sauce. Brilliant. Please try this place. It's incredible value for money and excellent food.

There were easily three choices for each course which sounded delicious, making it really tough to choose. Most of my family chose to pay a supplement for the belly pork which was well worth it cause it looked delicious. I had roast beef which was also excellent. Additionally a decent choice of real ales and a comfortable bar area for pre/post drinks. For the price I literally can't imagine a better menu, it was excellent. My dad's only gripe was that vegetable sides didn't come with all the meals only the roast, but they happily provided extras when asked.

I got their later than everyone else, so I missed out on the food, but everyone else was full and impressed. The cocktails were good- I would probably rank them as "definitely better than Wetherspoons, but not as good as a proper cocktail place" App for ordering worked well, and staff were nice enough.

Both visits were on a Sunday during lunch and the food preparation was perfect. The Big Lounge salad boasts a delightful variety of flavors and textures. I really like the tarragon mustard seed vinaigrette as it brings a level of brightness to the vegetables and blends well with the creamy ripe avocado chunks. This past Sunday, I ordered the Sherbet Lemonade. At 2 quid something a glass, this beverage is spectacular and definitely worth the price tag. Think of it as dessert or nice virgin cocktail. The playful presentation and summery sweetness make it hard not to gulp the whole glass before the meal arrives. I really dig the decor in this place. It feels somewhat like a vintage 70s art lounge, with groovy wallpaper and large framed paintings covering the full length of the main wall. There is ample seating and comfortable chairs. Seating arrangements are nicely spaced to create privacy and patrons are welcomed to stay for an afternoon with board games and a mini-library. The lighting features are custom crafted from salvaged naval lanterns and the wall of windows facing the road provide a not-too-bright sunlit glow. This is a new go-to place for us!

I should have known it would be a nightmare as i have had…read moreproblems here before but we thought we'd try it and the food was overpriced, microwaved and generally terrible. On my previous visit, i had struggled to pull up a high chair with my daughter and bag under my arm, the lady who worked there just sat there with her friend watching, once i managed to get myself sorted and get my daughter fed the lady came over and told me i couldn't sit there as the table was reserved (it was 3.30 on a quiet afternoon, all of 3 other people in the place) i couldn't believe how rude she was, she said she was the manager as well ! when i said 'thanks a lot' under my breath she started having a go at me, we vowed never to go in there again. Food is generally £10 per head, fish dishes from £14, a bit pricey for poor food and poor service. I have given this place 2 stars as they do have a gated area outside that is good for children to play in the summer, however you are not allowed to eat anything more that a starter out there and that generally causes them an inconvieniance !

I used to be a huge fan of this place but it has really gone down hill. We visited last week and…read moreour meal was appalling. Upon arrival we noted that the tables were sticky, there were children gambling on the fruit machines and the whole place seemed chaotic. The chap on the opposite table was in the process of sending his steak back as it was inedible. We should have left at that point in hindsight. Our starters never arrived and having heard the other complaints regarding the food we decided to go without them and move onto the mains. My meal wasn't even cooked?! The meat on my brothers mixed grill was inedible and my husbands pie was 98% mash! To add insult, the meals had clearly been sitting under a heat lamp for quite some time as the lettuce on the salads was brown and slimy. We asked to speak to the 'manager' who could not have cared less and didn't seem to understand why we were complaining. She just stared at my father with a vacant look on her face. She made no attempt to apologize and seemed to think that this was nothing out of the ordinary. To make matters worse, when I said that the the whole meal was awful and older waitress collecting drinks at the bar turned and laughed at me! I'm so glad she found our ruined family meal so funny. I can only imagine that they are under new management as standards have really slipped. The kitchen needs a visit from environmental health if they think that sending out un cooked food and off smelling meat is acceptable. I have made a formal complaint to the brewery in the hope that they can intervene and save what was once a lovely pub.

Two stars means. "Meh. I've experienced better"…read more I really want to like this place. I really do. I went before because I was told how great it was and how I'd love it. I didn't see what tea's were available and when I asked at the counter I was told to look at a sign that was 15-20 foot away. I had to take 4 steps towards it to get a proper look. I had given my table number but no suggestion was given if I was to wait for my tea to be prepared or to return to my seat. Then I couldn't get on the WIFI.. even though it claimed a good signal. Did it think all the people who had visited and logged on were still there?? Customer Service is KEY!! Update... They've just earned a star back as they tweeted me about the poor wifi issue..

The reviews are generally pretty decent, although a little mixed, so it looked a good should. Inside the décor is really relaxed with lots of shabby chic and exposed wood, pleasant and with plenty of space to sit. Its apparently part of a chain of lounges situated throughout the country, but I cant say I have ever come across one. Each lounge has a different name (i.e. Ocho, Trago, Verdo) so perhaps its that it isn't immediately obvious (or im not very observant). The food menu is extensive. This often worries me, because getting such a wide range of food spot on is always going to be pretty difficult, and in this case it proved to be an issue. The burger was served on a stale bun and was generally uninspiring and the Chicken and Avocado panini was served with an avocado sauce rather than fresh. The chicken was also reminiscent or packaged stuff from the supermarket. The portions were a little stingy too. So the food wasn't great, but with the general vibe of the place, the service and the comprehensive drinks menu, this place is a pretty good catch all type of bar/cafe. I wouldn't advise travelling to go here, but I don't think there's anywhere local doing anything similar at the moment.
