The bar area is warm and welcoming and there is plenty of room to sit and have a drink while you browse the menu. Monday nights are Tapas nights which is good to go for if you want to sample a range of different foods although the menu for the tapas is not huge! As well as the tapas you can choose a meal from the normal menu which is ideal if you are in a group and not evryone wants tapas. The restaurant area is very nice and although there are 2 different rooms, I prefer the room at the rear (especially if you are there for a romantic meal). The food is superb, we couldn't fault it. Try the homemade ice cream for pudding - it's delicious. The only downside that I found was that they tend to overcrowd an area instead of spacing diners around. My husband took me out there recently and we were seated between a rowdy crowd of business men and an equally rowdy crowd of women, which isn't really what you want. The noise was overwhelming and we decided to leave shortly after. There are a lack of very good restaurants in this area which makes Ashfields a popular place to go!

Desserts are known to be great here. You won't get a better chocolate brownie. Last night I went for an orange/almond cake with orange coulis/sauce. Brilliant. Please try this place. Visit on Mondays, Tuesdays or Wednesday and you can enjoy a three-course meal of first-rate, intelligent pub cuisine for a mere £11.50! There's a pull-down screen which shows the football and a small garden out the back. It's the sort of pub where, if you've lived in Sutton for a while, you're bound to bump into someone you at least vaguely know. If you don't have the benefit of being a local, then it still has an easy-going vibe about it and you're not going to get stared at for being a stranger. The pub backs on to Rectory Park so on a nice day you can walk your beer off or rehydrate after a stroll.

Inside, The Boot is pretty roomy with plenty of tables and chairs. You'll never be stuck for a seat here even when it gets pretty busy, usually of a weekend. There's a wide selection of cocktails on the menu to cover most peoples tastes and they tend to try and do their own twist on the classics, which by and large works very well. The food offering is solid, of note are the DIY platters so you can have a twist on the standard meat or cheese board you might expect in this sort of bar (definitely have a duck scotch egg on it though!).

Even I just have popped there just for some (last) couple of drinks in a night out , the first impression about it was really good. To start with, the building itself that reminds a bank ( and almost 99% sure it as a bank before) is really beautiful. I like all marble floor and walls and the traditional bar is also a complement to the decor. It was crowded but not packed. It was easy to find a table even being a Saturday night. My interesting at the place increased in high levels when I spotted the cocktails in the menu. Caipirinha, the traditional and popular Brazilian drink was there and didn't take me too much time to decide about what to drink. While the barman was preparing my first round, I spotted something called "smoked drinks" and for the very first time in life I tried the smoked Caipirinha. And obviously i have to ask the barman how the magic was done. Apparently, they have a smoking gun (tool or whatever it is called) that gives this smoked taste to the drinks. First slip is a bit strange, but after the glass empty you really feel it adds an extra enjoyable taste to the cachaça, lemon, sugar and ice from the caipirinha itself. The staff was really nice and kind when explained to me ( a Brazilian) how the drink was prepared and the bar got some kudos for it and I really recommend everyone into cocktails to face the smoked drink challenge. I love their Yorkshire puddings! On a busy day you could be looking at a long wait for your food. I know this because I've had to endure a few waits that are thirty minutes or longer; not good when someone else can hear your stomach rumble (yes this has happened to me) However, like the carvery, their food is tasty and I'd recommend their chicken and vegetable burgers. I've noticed that sometimes the staff are friendly and appear happy to serve you and some even have a nice chat. Other times it was the complete opposite and it took a while to get their attention let alone interest. So their excellent customer service needs to be consistent. The drinks are fairly cheap but their drought bear is watered down (probably with good reason though.) The outdoor seating area is nice but not that big. They advertise Plume of Feathers as a family friendly pub but there's nothing for children to do! So they could expand the outdoor seating area into the large car park to involve a small climbing frame.

They also offer an all you can eat ice cream station that is very popular with kids, a great reason to bring the family here. I have a sweet tooth and usually fill myself to the brim with the whipped delights on offer. I came here 14 years ago and ordered a baked potato with cheese. We waited for an hour and when it came it was cold and the cheese had been cut into little lumps because they couldn't be bothered to grate it. I glad to say that this has now changed with the new plush décor. The waiting times for the carvery are a lot less than their competitors. I'll be coming back again.
