After flying all from CA to London it was a relief to check into our favorite hotel in London The Corinthia and avail ourselves to a light meal before hitting the sack. The Northall continues to deliver excellent food and service at reasonable prices.

Wonderful beautiful restaurant, if not an expensive one. Please see my review of "Corinthia Hotel London" for the full review. A typical 3 course meal here costs around £100 though they have sunday offer inc a glass of champagne for £35 and a lunchtime offer for £25. As I mentioned in the other review I'd give this place 4.5 stars as I found it a little expensive (thank god I wasn't paying!), but if you want well cooked great food and want to visually blow someone's socks off this is the place!

This restaurant is part of the Corinthia Hotel. The dining room here is lovely. Really high ceilings and tasteful decor. Service was good too. However, my food was actually pretty disappointing. I had a half lobster for £25. It was quite a small lobster but the worst part was that it was really chewy! Terrible. Lobster should be tender, not chewy! The sauce on top was nice and the chips were good but generally rather poor. We also got a side of celeriac with goat's cheese and gruyere. This was very tasty. So it was ok but ultimately left feeling a bit underwhelmed. Wouldn't return.

Avocado, cucumber, spring onion, water chestnut and bean sprout salad. Very fresh and tasty.

Walked in without a reservation and was seated right away. I was a little underdressed as I came from a matinee at the theatre. No worries, wasn't taken to the back table to hide us. I started with a recommended avocado, cucumber, sprouts and water chestnut salad. Very great and tasty. Main course I had monkfish tail. Unbelievably tasty, a little strong fishy smell but it was beautifully cooked. It almost reminded me of a lighter version of lobster. Almost the same taste and consistency. Dessert was ginger cake, Christmas pudding ice-cream. The bomb. I will be dreaming of this ice cream when I go to sleep tonight.

Getting off randomly at Embankment after a long day in the office and looking desparately for some nice place around to have dinner, I came across some raving reviews about The Northall Restaurant. Just a few steps down the road, I decided to give it a go. I entered the impressive building and immediately was led the way from the bar to the restaurant and granted a nice place by the window. As you would expect for a decent dinner, a tasty wine is always a good start. So I asked the really attentive and helpful waiter for advice. His first shot was the second most expensive wine by the glass, and I thought to myself: What the hell? Tryingto sell me the secondmost important glass is very obvious mission, right?! So I asked him for something lighter, and he came up with a wine that later turned out to be brilliant for a fair price. So I'm afraid my first thought wouldn't have done him justice. As already mentioned above, I read fabulous things about the burger, and when going through the menu I couldn't decide whether I should go for the highly praised burger or for a probably as delicious fillet steak. Again I asked my waiter for the rescue. He confirmed that he actually had both, and acknowledged that the burger was perhaps the best burger he ever had. After I had. Not yet tasted the wine at that point, I was still a bit suspicious isn't his jobto say nice things about the stuff he sells anyway?! But I believed him and ordered the burger. After a little wait, the fairly expensive water and the revelation of a white wine arrived. Unfortunately, it took them a bit too long to bring the delicious bread with the smoothy tasty butter, so I barely could try the bread and butter before the burger arrived. Now to the burger. To no big surprise, the witty waiter was right. Despite not mentioned on the various well-known London burger charts, this is truly one of the best burgers in town. The patty was prepared to perfection, with cheese and plenty of bacon, and a delicious bun that could handle the burger very well without allowing any mess. The chips that came with the burger were not as spectacular as the burger. They were okay. They were good. But honestly, the were nothing special. With two including butter and bread even three so positive experiences, I couldn't wait to get my hands on the dessert menu. The options were somewhat limited, but I was more than happy to choose their strawberry dish. It came quickly with three strawberries and was another highlight. To round off my evening, I asked for an espresso. And this is the only time when I was a bit disappointed by what I got. Not that it was a particularly bad espresso, but the black and bitter cup just could not compete withal, the rest I had there. Being nice, I said that I liked the espresso when the waiter asked me, and surprisingly, he brought me another ne for free. That was sort of welcome, as I spent my evening there reading some stuff, and reading with some coffee is always better than reading without some coffee. The Northall is one of the places that really surprised me in some ways. Located within an expensive hotel in central London, it looks like sort of a posh and overpriced venue. And of course food and wine isn't cheap, and the water might well be overpriced, but the food and also my wine was definitely worth the money. Also, you get very good service, and the interior is astonishing. Very high ceiling, well-chosen colours, nice atmosphere, random (pop?!) music. At first, I wondered about the music, but then I was fine with it. If they would play classic or some avantgarde jazz, the restaurant would probably seem very different. So the casual music gives this otherwise a bit exclusive place a grounded touch. Altogether dining at The Northall is an experience that is not to be missed if you like architecture, good wine and good food. And good service. And comfy seats.

Elegant dining hall in neo-classical style. Theater menu £24-28 excellent value. Soup creamy fulfilling, fish tartare ravishingly fresh. Ox cheek tender melt-in-mouth with well accompanied sauerkraut. Paddock sublime fresh with perfect crust. Chocolate mouse smooth with crispy flakes and cocoa dusts. Service attentive, well timed and excellent. Michelin-level service and quality!

The dinning area (and the adjacent bar and lobby) look like the interior of a palace, with high ceilings, tall window, chandeliers. Very elegant, fancy but unpretentious. The wait staff is nice and professional. Out food and drinks arrived in a timely matter. The dishes look stunning and well presented. However I found the food it self lackluster and bland tasting. Pretty, but lacking soul and personality. People in my group did enjoy their orders though...Overall a good meal in a classy environment.

A ridiculously well-kept secret from everyone in London. (And I'm shooting myself in the foot by writing this review, I realise) The Northall restaurant isn't quite just a hotel restaurant. It has a set menu with a glass of fizzy for £28, the best burger I've had in London on its main menu, and a waiter who pronounces the T in merlot. To his credit, he also pours out a sip of wine for you to taste instead of bringing you a full glass and plopping it on the table. Which was a blessing, as my original choice of Merlot was not good. I had the Pinot noir instead. What do you want from your burger? A massive beef patty? Bacon? Cheese? Tomato? Lettuce? Gherkins? Brioche bun? Lovely chips in a cute miniature jar? A condiment waiter bringing you a trayful of ketchups, mayos, mustards, etc? Trust me. This burger is EPIC. It won't blow your tastebuds away, this isn't spicealot-central (meat liquor), this is just unquestionably excellent ingredients prepared to perfection to satisfy your Friday night I've-had-a-long-week-from-hell hunger. And that, it really does. Seriously. A nice quiet place, with delicate decor and very nice staff. I have to admit I just had the burger and the wine, and therefore cannot comment on the other fare. I'm looking forward to going back and probably opting for that burger again over all the other delicacies on the menu. Oh well. I've always known I was a carnivore. I just had no idea you could get this kind of meat in central London hotels! OM NOM NOM

Very impressive restaurant. Beautiful space with very tall ceilings and located in a very nice hotel. The service was excellent, food wonderful, and price seemed cheap. We had the theatre prix fixe which comes with three courses and a glass of champagne for £30. My date and I were very impressed with the quality of the food and its presentation. Probably the best prepared lamb I've had.

I've been looking forward to visiting Duck & Waffle for quite some time. The views are incredible,…read morethe space itself is striking, and on paper it promises that perfect London mix of skyline, late-night energy, and elevated comfort food. Unfortunately, our experience was soured before it even had a chance to begin. My girlfriend and I walked in excited, completely amicable, simply hoping to head upstairs for a bite and drinks. We were greeted by the doorman with an immediate, dismissive "Are you good?" -- not in a welcoming or helpful tone, but in a way that felt skeptical and unnecessarily confrontational. There was no warmth, no "welcome in," no attempt at hospitality. It immediately set an uncomfortable tone. He then proceeded to call upstairs as though he were doing us some sort of favor just by allowing us to go up. The entire interaction felt transactional and judgmental rather than gracious. First impressions matter, especially at a place that positions itself as a premium dining destination. Hospitality begins at the door, not at the table. When we finally made it upstairs, the room was filled with visibly drunk, rowdy groups -- which only made the earlier attitude feel even more misplaced. If that environment is acceptable (and profitable), then two polite guests looking for drinks and food shouldn't be met with suspicion at the entrance. By that point, the damage was done. The initial interaction had already rubbed us the wrong way, and the energy upstairs didn't help. We ultimately decided to leave before even sitting at our table. That's how strongly the first impression impacted us. It's difficult to justify staying somewhere when you don't feel genuinely welcomed from the outset. Duck & Waffle has the potential to be memorable for all the right reasons. But someone representing the brand at the very front needs to understand that hospitality isn't optional -- it's foundational. A simple, respectful welcome would have changed everything. I hope management takes this seriously, because no guest should feel judged or dismissed before they even step inside.

They are located just outside downtown London and near the financial district. After a long underground ride, we arrived at a classic looking British pub. We were seated downstairs in a very busy dining hall that looked like a proper hunting lodge kitchen. For Christmas eve, the place was packed with large groups celebrating the holidays. We ordered the sea snails with garlic / butter and sourdough, and deer tartar with game chips, mustard, bone marrow and toast. These were good and had a very rustic flare. For dinner, I ordered the red legged partridge, spelt, njuda and kale. The partridge was tough and not much flavor. The spelt and njuda was fantastic and a real flavor bomb. My first spelt encounter but definitely not the last. The kale was fine. The meal was solid but nothing to write home about. The atmosphere and setting was good along with the service. They finally came over with the dessert which we had to scarf down instead of getting the refund of dessert. Wasn't worth the fight but ruined an otherwise good meal. The burger was terrific for example. They also sat us at a weird table in the back that was difficult for the servers to get to and had sound reverberate so the loud table next to us just dominated the sound in the room. However, I must say in my two dining experiences at Karpo....I found none of the above to be true, and in fact quite the opposite. First of all, its not REALLY a hotel restaurant. Yes it has an entrance from the Megaro Hotel and provides their in-room dining, but it really seems much more of a "stand-alone." Room Service: A pleasant gentlemen delivered me a spread including: hot tea, lam shank with asparagus and pea puree, mac 'n cheese and a vegetable medley. I didn't have any expectations much, just needed a warm meal on a Friday evening after a particularly exhausting week. And...there it was. It arrived within 20 minutes, fresh, hot and satisfying. I actually remarked to myself that the lamb was some of the best I've had. Certainly not typical "room service" fare. I enjoyed it so much, I headed down for brunch the following morning before tackling all that is London. I perched myself at the bar, enjoyed a double espresso followed by an Americano (told you the week was long!) and then indulged in the eggs benedict. Its not usually my type of dish, but of the few brunch options this seemed to be the best bet for some protein to sustain me through the day. It arrived within 10 minutes, and was delicious. Also, each interaction with the staff was delightful. Including when one of their "regulars" sat beside me and was blitzed out drunk at noon. Not an issue for me, but after being quizzed on the bio of the British Prime Minister (before coffee!) and then told to take a (expletive) taxi back to the States if I wasn't going to learn the ins and outs of the British Parliament...the staff jumped into high gear, distracting the...errr...passionate gentlemen so that I could enjoy my breakfast. A nice gesture, and I was appreciative. Otherwise the service was also good...all smiles and quite warm and friendly, while staying efficient. Cost of both meals (on my hotel bill): 43 GBP. The colors are bright and I am glad I popped into Karpo...worth a try, and conveniently located near Kings Cross, and near many hotels/hostels. Worth the splurge or even just for a pop in for a coffee and croissant to start your day. Skip the chains!

I ordered the Egyptian Chamomile tea and my husband ordered the Earl Gray. The menu had descriptions of the types of teas which can help you pick out what you'd like. I think we both liked my Chamomile better with a tad of sugar which was on the table. We happened to visit during the Chelsea Flower Show time, so they had 2 different types of specialty desserts- we ordered one of each. The scones were out of this world, and I have a new favorite food called clotted cream. The desserts were so, so good and had a little bit of everything- chocolate, tarts, fruity...you'll find something you like! To be quite frank, we did our due diligence with finding a place to have high tea.
