My 12 year old son just threw up the entire contents of his stomach.
We had lunch reservation at 12:45 pm. By 2:30 pm we finished lunch.
He skipped breakfast this morning. Lunch was his main meal.
We went to Westminster Abby after lunch and after 1.5 hours, he felt ill. He asked to return to the hotel and rest. He came back to hotel and rested for ours, and kept saying he felt ill.
Even up to this point in the afternoon/evening, I didn't attribute it to his lunch. At dinner time - he pecked at the food we gave him, although normally he eats several servings as a growing tween.
He continued to say he was feeling ill but I had no idea how bad until around midnight he got up on his own.. went to bathroom several times (potty) and then suddenly he threw up the entire contents of his stomach (from lunch) into the hotel bathroom sink, retching several times and dry heaving even after the contents of his stomach were empty.
It took my husband and I several 20 or 30 minutes unplugging the bathroom sink (because of the chunky nature of the contents). I didn't feel it was fair to ask the hotel to clean up the throw up.
Went through 1.5 rolls of toilet paper and 2 boxes of kleenex to wipe down the contents (after trying to unplug the sink by stirring the contents to make water go down)...
Now have called the hotel to ask for more toilet paper, kleenex, and carbonated clear drink (they don't have ginger ale and the closest they have is 7-up).
My son is still gargling and feeling ill and took a hot shower to remove the bile, throw-up. It was projectile vomiting and it literally came out both his nose and mouth.
If I can give a NEGATIVE 100, I would. This is now no longer about just bad service and serving food poorly.
I am wondering if the lobster was bad. My son ate most of it. Did they microwave the lobster? What would make the lobster so difficult to cut and be like tire rubber?
Did a cook not wash their hands after going to the bathroom? My 12 year old had projectile vomiting and it's beyond unacceptable. We have a full day of itinerary sightseeing to be done tomorrow, but now the whole family is up at 1:30 am.

I would say for spending $326.25 USD for 2 teens and 1 adult today at the Fenchurch Restaurant, the experience was a bit subpar given expectations.
We went there to celebrate daughter's birthday. Got seated next to the toilets in a corner.
Son ordered to start:
1. Pea and asparagus risotto, wild garlic, crumbled cheese + lobster supplement.
Son and daughter shared the risotto dish and lobster starter. They had trouble cutting the lobster - it was like rubber. I had to try to cut it for them and it was incredibly difficult to cut through the lobster.
Risotto was not creamy as so much salty.
Both children said they had never had lobster so chewy and rubbery.
2. 12 yr old son ordered the aged fillet of beef. As you can see in the photo, the plating was subpar. They kind of threw on the sauce at the end, and was not carefully plated with sauce.
3. 15 yr old daughter ordered Pan seared sea bass. She said it was fine. I didn't taste it. But given rubbery lobster... I have my doubts.
4. I ordered spiced halibut. Again sauce was not carefully done, but taste of the dish was okay.
5. we each ordered dessert. Son ordered the souffle - which looked beautiful but was overly sweet. Daughter ordered Fenchurch Bar, which seemed somewhat average. I ordered the Rhubarb and that was the one item I thought tasted lovely with varying contrasting flavors.
6. Daughter received for her birthday, 2 little morsels but on the bill, but it stated on the bill "spec Petit FOURS" (uhm - I counted 2. Please use "deux" in French if you want to hide the fact you should have given four).
Overall the feeling was not super special. Perhaps they didn't appreciate the fact that I didn't order drinks with my meal? Perhaps it's because we looked Asian? Perhaps it was because there was one adult and 2 children, the service was a bit average and we felt overlooked.
I don't recall being asked how the dishes or meals were. If I had been asked, I would have stated the lobster was chewy and rubbery and incredibly hard to cut. Perhaps they assumed we wouldn't know thoughtfully cooked delicate dishes, or understand what thoughtful and beautiful presentation would be like?
Even the sauces added to the main dishes were done as an afterthought. They brought out 3 dishes... and usually when sauces come out, they are plated immediately with the placing of the dish on the table. Instead there was perhaps a beat of rest... long enough we all assumed there were no sauces and took photos of the dish... before someone returned with sauces and hastily put them on the plates.
Not impressed. Save your $$ for afternoon tea at the Oblix Shard. That is much more worth it. Thoughtfully presented. Thoughtfully served. Graciously hosted. It is the type of foodie experience more worth it's money. read more
