This restaurant probably has some of the best views of the city of London. We went around 4 pm, not crowded at all, so had amazing views of the sky garden. Food was great, mix of Caribbean and British flavors .

My first experience here was nothing short of amazing. The excellent service started at the security check (yes, you have to go through airport style security first). The guards and ground floor reception were friendly, professional, and made me feel welcomed. Then you take the express elevator to 35, where you exit onto the Sky Garden... and the view is breathtaking!!! I recommend taking a few minutes to take it all in before dinner. Then one more set of elevators takes you to 37, where you arrive at restaurant reception. Once you are seated you are presented with a wine and cocktail menu as well as the meal menu. I highly recommend the Wild Mushroom and Truffle Arancini, definitely the Saffron Risotto, and the Sea Bass. The presentation was amazing and the food itself was just... words can't describe how good it was. Yes, the restaurant is a little on the pricer side, but for the service, the food, and the view, you can't beat it. I also want to thank the restaurant for recognizing my birthday and presenting a little small dessert mini plate after dinner. That small touch really blew me away.

Fenchurch is a delightful and unique experience. There is airport-like security at the ground floor, and several elevators to get to the top of SkyGarden. We had a lovely table in the corner with a view of the city and the people enjoying SkyGarden. We tried the tasting menu, which was inventive and tasty.

I loved the food here! The salmon cornets, beef tartare, and souffle were my favorites. Great atmosphere and service as well! Unfortunately, we were seated closer to the middle, so we weren't able to actually see the amazing views while eating.

I thought I took more pictures but I was just probably too busy eating. The best meal I had in London. The staff were very polite and professional 5 star customer service. Great location but make sure you make reservations as you will also get guanteed admissions to the sky garden.

Found this restaurant through a written recommendation on a blog. Decided to give it a try considering it was in the Sky Garden. We had a fantastic time and really enjoyed it for our anniversary dinner. Drinks, food, and dessert; all were exceptional! Small gourmet plates very well presented and delicious. Jessica attended us. She was very professional and courteous. We would definitely visit again if we go back to London.

Overall: Food is rather average but the view is unbeatable! Location: Fenchurch's location is unbeatable. The biggest draw for us is that you don't have to wait in line (and the line was quite long, going out the door and wrapping around the block) once you have a dinner reservation. We were able to go straight to the front desk to check in. Everybody arrives on the same floor. Since we had some extra time, we explored the Sky Garden and enjoyed the outdoor balcony view prior to having dinner. We were hoping for a nice sunset however it was a cloudy day. Still, the view was stunning! Food: We ordered two appetizers and two entrees. The presentation was delightful. Portion size is small. The arancini was delicious, everything else was not exactly memorable, unfortunately. - wild mushroom and truffle arancini: crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside! Delicious! - glazed chicken wings in whiskey BBQ: very average. Small wings. Would not order again - pan seared seabass and another seafood entree that I don't quite remember Ambiance & Service: This is the interesting part. We were seated next to a larger table of family with a toddler, and they were playing cartoons on the iPad, LOUDLY! Don't get me wrong. I love kids, but usually parents are pretty cognizant about keeping the volume down or having their kids wear headphones, but this family was not trying to be polite to other diners at all! Sadly, the restaurant staff also didn't do anything about it, and it definitely diminished, if not ruined the dining experience for us.

    The views!

I'm always a bit hesitant with restaurants like this where people come for the view and it's a captive audience, so we opted to order a la carte instead of doing a tasting menu and I'm happy we did. The food was good, but I wasn't blown away. We've eaten at our fair share of high end restaurants all over the world and while Sky Garden's location and view are top notch, the food could have been much better. The presentation was gorgeous (see pics) but unfortunately the presentation exceeded the taste. The steak tartare with the gelatinous egg layer, for example - incredible idea, but poor execution; it made it difficult to eat without a knife and the flavors were very bland for a tartare. The parmesan risotto (which I believe they're known for) was really disappointing - I have no idea how they managed to do it, but it somehow needed salt and the texture was too mushy for a good risotto. The steak was probably my biggest annoyance - it was super rare (which I generally LOVE) but the meat was so tough that it wasn't enjoyable. So what was great at Sky Garden? The fish dish with caviar on top was excellent and the drinks were fantastic. We had several cocktails (Champagne-based and gin-based) and these were worth every penny. The best part about Sky Garden is that if you make reservations, you don't have to wait in the massive line outside to go check out the views.

The price for the £75 lunch tasting menu of five dishes seemed more cost efficient than the à la carte, where a single entrée averaged out to be £40. Dishes were aesthetically appealing. However, portions were tiny and taste-wise had nothing particularly memorable. We had the following dishes with prices listed from the à la carte menu: - Snack & Bread - Mosaic of sashimi tuna with yogurt, lime and red pepper sauce (£19.50) - 38-month aged parmesan risotto, Iberico ham hock, burnt kale dressing (£18.50) - North Sea monkfish, BBQ cabbage, Thai green mussel sauce (£37) - Lake District sirloin, baba ghanoush, watercress, dukkah spice (£47) - Fenchurch chocolate bar, salted almond and buttermilk ice cream (£13) For a drink, I tried the Fenchurch Café Cocktail: coffee filtered Hennessy VS Cognac, cocoa liquer, Amaro Montenegro and Tonka bean (£15). It was too strong for my liking and I stopped after a couple sips. The restaurant is located on the 37th floor of the 20 Fenchurch Street building, which is the highest floor of the Sky Garden. A reservation grants unlimited access to the garden before and after the meal. It is advised to show up a minimum of fifteen minutes prior to the reservation to pass the security check and access the lifts to go up to the 35th floor. A 12.5% service charge is added onto the bill. We had reserved 1:15 PM on a Sunday and were seated at an inner table rather than next to a window with a view of the garden. Service was lacking, and the servers forgot to take our drink orders. A dress code is only required for evenings.

Amazing, amazing experience. From start to finish, this really was an EXPERIENCE. We did the tasting menu and each course was perfectly thought out and full of incredible flavor and exquisite presentation. The service, the ambiance- 5+ stars. And talk about a view! Highly recommend coming here for a once in a lifetime London experience.

This is the "snacks" course which included bread/crisps with various butters and dips.

We went for the experience. The food was a surprising treat. The service was impeccable and the atmosphere was comfortable. The only issue was that we were there on an oddly very sunny day in London. The number of courses was delightfully overwhelming. It is an experience you must have while visiting London.

Aged fillet of beef. (Cost 55.00)
The plating seemed very careless and wanting.

Update:Sat Jun 17, 2023 1:23 AM My 12 year old son just threw up the entire contents of his stomach. We had lunch reservation at 12:45 pm. By 2:30 pm we finished lunch. He skipped breakfast this morning. Lunch was his main meal. We went to Westminster Abby after lunch and after 1.5 hours, he felt ill. He asked to return to the hotel and rest. He came back to hotel and rested for ours, and kept saying he felt ill. Even up to this point in the afternoon/evening, I didn't attribute it to his lunch. At dinner time - he pecked at the food we gave him, although normally he eats several servings as a growing tween. He continued to say he was feeling ill but I had no idea how bad until around midnight he got up on his own.. went to bathroom several times (potty) and then suddenly he threw up the entire contents of his stomach (from lunch) into the hotel bathroom sink, retching several times and dry heaving even after the contents of his stomach were empty. It took my husband and I several 20 or 30 minutes unplugging the bathroom sink (because of the chunky nature of the contents). I didn't feel it was fair to ask the hotel to clean up the throw up. Went through 1.5 rolls of toilet paper and 2 boxes of kleenex to wipe down the contents (after trying to unplug the sink by stirring the contents to make water go down)... Now have called the hotel to ask for more toilet paper, kleenex, and carbonated clear drink (they don't have ginger ale and the closest they have is 7-up). My son is still gargling and feeling ill and took a hot shower to remove the bile, throw-up. It was projectile vomiting and it literally came out both his nose and mouth. If I can give a NEGATIVE 100, I would. This is now no longer about just bad service and serving food poorly. I am wondering if the lobster was bad. My son ate most of it. Did they microwave the lobster? What would make the lobster so difficult to cut and be like tire rubber? Did a cook not wash their hands after going to the bathroom? My 12 year old had projectile vomiting and it's beyond unacceptable. We have a full day of itinerary sightseeing to be done tomorrow, but now the whole family is up at 1:30 am. _______ I would say for spending $326.25 USD for 2 teens and 1 adult today at the Fenchurch Restaurant, the experience was a bit subpar given expectations. We went there to celebrate daughter's birthday. Got seated next to the toilets in a corner. Son ordered to start: 1. Pea and asparagus risotto, wild garlic, crumbled cheese + lobster supplement. Son and daughter shared the risotto dish and lobster starter. They had trouble cutting the lobster - it was like rubber. I had to try to cut it for them and it was incredibly difficult to cut through the lobster. Risotto was not creamy as so much salty. Both children said they had never had lobster so chewy and rubbery. 2. 12 yr old son ordered the aged fillet of beef. As you can see in the photo, the plating was subpar. They kind of threw on the sauce at the end, and was not carefully plated with sauce. 3. 15 yr old daughter ordered Pan seared sea bass. She said it was fine. I didn't taste it. But given rubbery lobster... I have my doubts. 4. I ordered spiced halibut. Again sauce was not carefully done, but taste of the dish was okay. 5. we each ordered dessert. Son ordered the souffle - which looked beautiful but was overly sweet. Daughter ordered Fenchurch Bar, which seemed somewhat average. I ordered the Rhubarb and that was the one item I thought tasted lovely with varying contrasting flavors. 6. Daughter received for her birthday, 2 little morsels but on the bill, but it stated on the bill "spec Petit FOURS" (uhm - I counted 2. Please use "deux" in French if you want to hide the fact you should have given four). Overall the feeling was not super special. Perhaps they didn't appreciate the fact that I didn't order drinks with my meal? Perhaps it's because we looked Asian? Perhaps it was because there was one adult and 2 children, the service was a bit average and we felt overlooked. I don't recall being asked how the dishes or meals were. If I had been asked, I would have stated the lobster was chewy and rubbery and incredibly hard to cut. Perhaps they assumed we wouldn't know thoughtfully cooked delicate dishes, or understand what thoughtful and beautiful presentation would be like? Even the sauces added to the main dishes were done as an afterthought. They brought out 3 dishes... and usually when sauces come out, they are plated immediately with the placing of the dish on the table. Instead there was perhaps a beat of rest... long enough we all assumed there were no sauces and took photos of the dish... before someone returned with sauces and hastily put them on the plates. Not impressed. Save your $$ for afternoon tea at the Oblix Shard. That is much more worth it. Thoughtfully presented. Thoughtfully served. Graciously hosted. It is the type of foodie experience more worth it's money.

Stunning views, incredible service, unbelievable food. Each dish was like a work of art, and the flavors did not disappoint! The service was excellent - Tonika did a wonderful job looking after us, and made our anniversary dinner really special. We have dietary restrictions and they modified the dishes beautifully! Can't recommend enough!!

I loved my meal- the flavors were perfect and I ate every drop. The menu is short and simple and you can tell it's one of those places which does everything well. The only downside is that I wish the portion size was bigger. I was one person and ate everything in the pictures attached- although I'm American and probably eat too much! The restaurant was kind enough to do a half size of the pasta to fill me up which was great to sample a bit of everything. It was al cooked perfectly and the spacing between dishes was great. The atmosphere is relaxing and super friendly. There were two huge groups of 10+ and the staff was quick to strike up conversations with their guests and to check in. I happened to have breakfast included and the nice thing was that you cook receive one cooked item from the menu which was so nice. The only downside was that you could not substitute a cooked item for a smoothie and the smoothie was the smallest thing ever with the biggest ice cubes so definitely not worth it. Otherwise, definitely check this place out!!

I think of it as Viajante-level cooking taken off steroids. Innovative combinations but faultlessly executed, not to mention at a fraction of the price. My favourites include grilled squid with romesco, seabass ceviche and most importantly the Iberico pork with "bread pudding". Words cannot describe how delicious the bread pudding is - I can only imagine that A TON of butter went into making it. Chunks of soft buttery bread stewed in a tangy tomato sauce. Ahhh. Go early if you don't want to queue, or make it a late lunch. Be sure to order the pork/bread pudding dish - you can thank me later.

I know, there have been rave reviews on a number of sites - I know. I saw them too. But what could possibly top the Corner Room? After last week's visit to the Typing Room, I will never doubt another restaurant decision made in this venue (and I hope there are many more!). You have to go to Typing Room. Right now. I don't even know where to start. There is a set menu, of course, but this apparently varies by the day. We went with a vegetarian friend, so if that is you - you will also feel the love. To begin, the set menu (whether you go for 5 or 7 dishes) all includes a group of "snacks". After a couple drinks at the bar and rearing to see the menu, I can't tell you how excited I was to have food arriving at the table without even having to think. And all of it...was just. so. good. And the bread. I'll be honest - I'm hit or miss with bread - sometimes it looks pretty good and it's still warm and a restaurant has some special sort of butter so I'm all over it. Other times it looks like it's been sitting in a corner of the kitchen for the past week. At Typing Room, the bread was a course in and of itself. I'm not kidding. Two types of bread with two types of delish buttery, chutney, goodness. More bread. PLEASE. By the time we got to the smoke deer roe, I didn't think I could possibly have another bite. But I had too - because the remaining two courses were too good to be missed. Service: Literally some of the best I've ever had in London. Everyone was so super friendly and knowledgeable about each dish. We never felt rushed and each course was given time to settle in. I can't rave about this place enough. 5 stars.

Not so with Typing room. We had the 7 course lunch and skipped the pairing in favour of a couple of glasses of wine. Setting is similar with the restaurant on the left with very open kitchen when you walk into town hall and a bar to the right. Chef was on premise supervising the kitchen which was nice to see for a weekday lunch. Lots of Beatles and classic rock playing which I enjoyed although one of the other patrons kept complaining about. Certainly didn't interfere with conversation. On to the food the starter you pick from 4 snacks. We had the basil profiterole which was ok but the star was the smoked eel. Then can crab and pea dish followed by cauliflower which were both amazing. The raw beef was topped with what looked like granola and neither of us liked that dish. Too sweet and needed an acid to bring out the flavour of the tartare. The fish course following was also a 5 star. Then the lamb which also was good but have had better. Confit belly was nice but the yogurt didn't add anything and the onions were over charred. Desert started with almond foam and lemon sorbet which was a great palette cleanser and then a very interesting chocolate dessert. Cake almost looks dried out but is the texture of freeze dried chocolate mouse. Very tasty. Overall a couple of misses in execution more than design that I'm sure won't take long to correct. I'd expect this place to get a Michelin star in the near future. The star dishes were well worth coming back for.

After a long day of shopping and sightseeing, I wasn't sure if I had missed the boat by not making reservations somewhere for Sunday Roast dinner. Seeing as I was staying in the Stepney Greene area and really did not want to go to the other side of town for dinner, I found Palmer's Restaurant on my Yelp! app and mentioned it served up Sunday roast dinner. I walked over and made it just in the nick of time, before their last seating. First of all, this is East London and as gritty and edgy as that may be, Palmer's restaurant can only accurately be described as a hidden gem lost among the housing estate and what not. I had the roast beef and it came with all the trimmings, gravy, roasted vegetables, Yorkshire pudding and a good serving of horse-radish sauce. It was perfect for a cold, blustery Sunday night. The flavours were rich, and well balanced. The squash especially was very well done. On the downside, I found the atmosphere a little lacking- though it was interesting to be looking into office cubicles. I haven't experienced that before. The real reason for the three stars however is our waitress dropped our bottle of wine while pouring, smashing the glass she was pouring into, and spilling wine and broken glass everywhere. Being two Canadians we were very polite about it (eh), but I admit I was very disappointed when there were no reparations were made. Not only was a big mess made, with wine spilling on my friend, but we lost at least an entire glass of wine. I do feel that there should have at the very least been a fresh glass of wine brought to make up for the spilled one, or a free dessert offered, or a discount given on the (not inexpensive) bottle of wine we ordered. I would expect better service from a restaurant.

She had the most lovely smile, I just had to tell her how nice it was! The food is almost as good as the waitress' smile. Good quality, decent sized portions served tapas-style. I had the tomato salad which was lovely, followed by some octopus peach combo that was really nice, and a great plate of grilled sardines. The atmosphere is lovely and the only reason I'm dropping a star is the service could have been faster (it wasn't always the smiley waitress serving us) and the bench seat, although really cool to look at, isn't very comfortable to sit on for any period of time spanning a dinner.

Really nice restaurant serving quality European cuisine in an elegant environment…read more Anchovies (15 GBP) - I started off with the anchovies, which I also paired with the break and butter (4.50 GBP). The anchovies were decent and not overly salty, although definitely needed to go with the bread. 15 GBP for 5 anchovies does seem a bit pricey though. Cuttlefish ragu (22 GBP) - Pretty good although I couldn't really tell there was much cuttlefish in there. The ragu tasted lighter than usual with a lightly crunchy texture. The spaghetti was cooked well. Duck leg (32 GBP) - Very well cooked duck leg and the mashed potatoes on the side with the sauce was surprisingly delicious. The prunes had a strong alcoholic taste though which was a bit too bitter for me. Panna cotta (11 GBP) - The vanilla panna cotta had a nice creamy consistency and was paired well with the pear slice on the side. From afar, the restaurant looks like a very humble corner-of-the-block restaurant in a somewhat local area, but once you are inside, you can appreciate the minimalistic chic decor. There is a lively yet still intimate atmosphere inside. I would recommend getting a reservation at peak hours since the tables were all filled. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The service speed is also quick. Overall, I do think that the food was slightly overpriced for the portion sizes, however they were indeed good. Plus, with a nice environment and friendly staff, Brawn deserves at least a solid 4 stars.

Such a cozy place. We enjoyed it very much…read more Charcuterie £20 - you can see how fatty those slices in the picture. I've seen pictures that looks like it's pure fat. It's rich and melt in your mouth. Pair great with our red wine that's slightly sweet but I would dare to get a second slice. Lucky 4 of us shared Oyster £4 each - small but very refreshing. Doesn't wow us but it's was good Baccala £12 - fish in a paste form with cheese cracker/cake on the side. It sounded weird but think of it like tuna salad on a salty cracker but a more sophisticated taste. A bit too salty tho Mozzarella £17 - the leafy greens on the sound was very interesting and gave the fish a new dimension. Very refreshing. Crab £18 - such a small portion. The crab has very mild taste so amongst all the salty dishes, this doesn't stand out that much. But you can taste the quality of the ingredients. Clams £17 - yummy. Cooked in a tomato-y sauce with some barley type of grains. Still on the more salty side but still manageable Angolotti £15 - small ravioli with meat stuff in the inside. Feels like a wonton soup to me but really really really salty. If it's not that salty, I think we would have loved it. Pappardelle £22 - typical ragu pasta dish. Tasty. Black pudding with squid £29 - star of the show. Absolutely delicious. Bit pricey for the portion tho. Lamb neck £32 - yummy yummy. Slightly pink on the inside. Our waitstaff was great but the wine guy was not helpful at all.
