Very very expensive dinner for just a mediocre experience. The food was just ok and the service was lacking. I noticed our waitress was much more attentive and provided more service to other tables. She checked in on them more, wiped off the crumbs and folded their napkin each time. But not for us, just something I noticed. What I was really upset about was that I booked this reservation months ahead for my parents' bday which I'm SURE they forgot. I already reminded them once in the beginning. Every other table got their bday dessert before the bill and utensils were placed first. My waitress cleared our table and handed us the bill and I reminded her about the bday. She rudely said "I know". So as a 5 star restaurant, you serve the bday dessert AFTER the bill? & Didn't give us utensils. We had the overly sweet jelly with our hands. For a $450 dinner I definitely expect more. It was a slow 3 hour meal, but we just couldn't enjoy it since it was so disappointing. My parents were out the door before we even got dessert. read more

Pros - Service, Ambiance, Taste Cons - Price You get what you pay for at Fenchurch and I'm glad I paid. The restaurant is located on the 37th floor (top floor) of a buildling, overlooking a lounge / dance club and all of London. It's quite a view. This is the kind of restaurant that is going to serve you an amuse-bouche and it's going to be a puzzle between you and your companion to figure out what it is that you're eating. A pleasing puzzle. Went to Fenchurch Restaurant at 1 Sky Garden Walk, in the "WalkiTalki" building, London,UK on July 5th for dinner. Food is way overpriced and the portions are meager. I had the roast pork which was served without any sides. Just a slab of under-cooked and fatty roast pork on a plate. My wife had the Halibut, which she said was a "tad" dry and also came without any sides. Sides aren't even offered on the menu! The only item I enjoyed was the fried brown egg, which was very good. Unbeatable views, fantastic food, interesting drinks, and attentive service describes this fabulous upscale restaurant atop the Sky Garden. The location, food quality, and atmosphere does come at a price. A three course dinner with cocktails can easily be £100 or more per person. Upon arrival you're greeted by the Sky Garden's receptionist who will check you in to your reservation. You'll then go through basic metal-detection security and be sent in to an elevator straight to the top of the "Walkie Talkie". In my opinion the view here beats any other in London. It's actually higher than the restaurants within The Shard, allows you to actually see the shard, has a 360 view of the city, and has the obvious atmosphere of being filled with tropical plants. To start, the restaurant has an extensive list of cocktails and wines. The house Champaign cocktail, the Fenchurch 37, is the perfect way to start a celebratory evening. Starters are portioned for one person but they're well worth it. The tuna tartar offered several different cuts of tuna with unexpected and savory avocado and cucumber flavors which I'd eat for every meal if I could. For the main course I chose the lamb and my boyfriend chose the pork loin. Both dishes were well cooked, flavorful, and beautifully arranged. However we both agreed the lamb was a much better dish than the pork. Dessert was, again, pleasantly surprising! Their dessert menu included several diverse options including a few with non-dairy ice cream alternatives. I had the passion fruit pastry with almond milk ice cream which was very interesting and tangy. My boyfriend had the Earl Grey chocolate dish which was phenomenal though far too sweet and rich for one person to finish. A coffee and tea selection is also offered with dessert. I ordered jasmine tea for myself which was served in an adorable glass teapot, the perfect size for one person. The service at Fenchurch never disappoints. Coat room service is available from the host when you arrive. I've visited twice and the staff is always attentive, they keep the courses moving smoothly, the drinks full, and ensure you're never waiting on them. I was admittedly unfamiliar with some of the ingredients listed on the menu and the waiters made a sincere and unpretentious effort to clarify anything we didn't understand. Keep in mind that when you make a reservation for Fenchurch you typically reserve a three-hour time slot. Fenchurch isn't a quick in-and-out eatery down by city hall. It's a fairly intimate dining experience and the staff will let you take your time, enjoy the food, company, and scenery. Don't come here expecting a 3 course meal in an hour. The Sky Garden itself and all of the bars and restaurants within it all require reservations. A reservation at Fenchurch allows you to visit the Sky Garden without a separate reservation, so come early and enjoy a drink before dinner in the gardens if you have time. Overall, it's a great restaurant. Perfect for a visiting tourist, business dinner, or special occasion. I come here at the end of every vacation I have in London and I always recommend it. read more

The service on our trip was exemplary, the cocktails were really a cut above the norm and the food was, erm, well, good. We had the tasting menu with wine pairings and all of it was really, very pleasant. I'm not sure if that is enough for me though to be honest. I suppose if we were eating in some dark, underground location with ok service and drinks, the food in comparison would have been amazing. I have previously visted the Sky Garden and tried out the other restaurant, the Darwin Brasserie, and was very impressed with it. As our anniversary was coming up, I decided that it was the perfect time to return and try out the pricier Fenchurch Restaurant. The views are of course great and I love the plants - but for this one, let's focus on only the restaurant itself. The design was lovely. I had earlier expressed disappointment that not enough places were celebrating Autumn or Halloween, so it was nice to have the subtle touches of pumpkins and other additions to look at. The bathrooms are among the nicest restaurant bathrooms I have ever been to! And of course, the view is lovely. Service was very friendly and attentive and though it was busy the staff always noticed as soon as I needed anything - ie. me moving the wine glasses out the way caused one to swoop to take them away straight away! The food was absolutely fantastic. We were a little confused as we went on a Monday specifically expecting their special offer that they advertise on their website of three courses for £35, and it was explained to us that that didn't run on a Monday. Even though I was almost certain it was ONLY on a Monday. We went along with it as at that point we didn't have any choice, but it would have been nice to know in advance as this was close to payday and we would have probably chosen somewhere else had we known. I also know it wasn't just us, as of the three tables surrounding us we heard two of the other tables ask about it too. So I think something a little sneaky was going on there. Either way, the food we did get was brilliant. I loved both my courses and my partner said his lamb was the best he had ever had. We were kept content by endless supplies of delicious bread and the meal ended with some amazing chocolate mousses on a plate saying "Happy Anniversary" which was a nice touch. This place IS expensive, however I do consider it worth the price. It's obviously not somewhere you'd go to every week but on special occassions it is very much worth it. My partner is extremely stingy when it comes to money and we would never have gone if we had known the offer wasn't available as it's just too high for him, however even he agreed that he didn't want to pay that much but had felt it was worth the price and didn't feel at all ripped off. Fantastic views as you ascend into a cozy nest above the SkyGarden, yes please. Fenchurch Seafood Bar & Grill was a wonderful experience from beginning to end. We arrived and enjoyed a well made cocktail from the bar. Anyone who appreciates a good cocktail understands how challenging that can be in London sometimes. (they're getting better) With our vesper martini and manhattans in hand we continued onto a lovely meal that began with oysters and champagne. My main was the Dover Sole and it was lovely and my partner enjoyed the trout. Alas, I cannot wait to return to try the truffle mac and cheese. It came highly recommended but we'd already ordered quite a bit to enjoy. Overall this place is really good, the service is wonderful and the setting is hard to beat. If you're looking for a cheap meal, honey this isn't the place. (I can't imagine why one would even expect such however it seems to always surface in reviews) If you're looking for a bargain in the sky try EasyJet. So with that being said, it's wonderful and if you're looking to experience a nice seafood (they have other items too) with sky views, a garden and a lively atmosphere then y'all have found the right place. Disclaimer: This is a high end restaurant, no other tourists in the establishment for lunch. We did not know this. It was a hot day, and our concierge told me I was appropriately dressed in nice shorts and a collared shirt. He was wrong. Everyone was dressed for business and I was underdressed. However, because they charge for canceling reservations, we were seated for an early lunch while traffic was light. Regrettably, we feel like we were hidden at a corner table and received poor service because I was not properly dressed. Our experience began well, but we left disappointed because our food order was significantly delayed and we were virtually ignored by the servers. We waited an hour between the oyster appetizer and the main course. The servers continued to walk by our table but did not appear to notice our lengthy wait until I brought it to their attention.Other guests came in after us and left before our main course was served. It was inexcusable and no good explanation or compensation was provided. The food was delicious. We enjoyed a dozen oysters...they were excellent. The pork main course was also very good. Tiny portions at a high price, so just be aware. They were generous when it came to pouring my gin and tonic, and it was reasonably priced. They also prepared a special fruity cocktail for my wife -- very nice. Of course, the view was breathtaking and we enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant. Read the first paragraph of my review carefully, dress properly, and include Fenchurch on your itinerary when you are in London. Another note: We did not originally plan to dine at Fenchurch, however, we were unable to secure a reservation to Sky Garden, so we booked the reservation to enable us to take in this special attraction. Our waiter is absolutely terrible! First of all, we sat down, we did not have any greetings or introduction. That's fine, we can take that. The main problem comes afterward, when we are ready to order food, we called out waiter, he came, stood in front of us while looking at other table. When we start to order, he just went away to the other table and did not even excuse himself! We waited for a while, when he came back after 10 mins, we ordered our drink, then straight away we wanted to order food, and somehow he just went away again! without saying a word! We had to wait for him to come back again, and when we order our food, we asked how the lamb will be cooked, he said "don't know!" and that was it!? How can you serve customer at a high class restaurant and not knowing how the food will be cook or serve!? Other than these, he constantly ignored us, gave us a used butter, throw cutlery onto our table and gave us our food without even bothering saying what it is! Keeping these waiter in your restaurant will not only lose customer, but will also loose yourself any michelin star! We wanted to complaint immediately, but we did not want to spoil our special occasion. In terms of food, I have to say I am very disappointed on it. We were looking forward to visiting this restaurant as all the good reviews says that the restaurant have good quality of food. However, it turns out not. The food are small (these are à la carte, not tasting menu), taste is decent, not great. The plate are dirty. And it barely have any decoration. Basically you'll be eating decent food with a poor quality of decoration and cleanness of plate in a super "high class" price restaurant.
