I love this store! I purchased quite a few items for my online flipping business here recently. Great selection, very helpful staff. But the reason I took the time to write a review is because how friendly and helpful the security guard was. While leaving the guard asked me if I would like for him to walk me to my car for safety. Being that I had two giant bags and spent well over $1,000 I was very grateful for that type of service and just genuine care. So thank you James for making me feel safe walking to my vehicle. Always a wait. Usually worth the wait meaning I'm coming out with a big bag. We happened to come during a sample sale which is always nice. Sample sales mean they have men's, women's and shoes all in one size that day for 50% off and they are of items that I think are not necessarily to hit the markets so sometimes you literally can find one of a kind items. I still have my jacket that I purchased in the 90s. Unfortunately, the my last few visits I have left empty handed. I think my size is common. I searched online and in stores and I have yet to find a nice long jacket in my price range and in my size. There was also a couple that pretty much took an item as soon as I was done trying it on. The guy even grabbed it when I put it down to try it on! Talk about rude. I thought I would try this location because the "outlet" in Livermore doesn't have a good selection of items either. I went on a saturday around 12pm and waited almost 30 mins. When I left around 2pm, there was no line at all. Everything is 40% off and some are 60% off. I found something for my hubs for 60% off (apex flex). Final sale. I saw men's apex bionic jackets (no hoodie) and vests. I have a hard time finding something for myself tho. I was looking for a waterproof windproof jacket with a hoodie that's warm for hiking. I found either flimsy thin outer layer or super thick triclimate ones. I found one that I really like and it was $149 (not including 40% off) but they only have small and xs size. Even before they had opened outlet locations in Gilroy, Livermore, and Vacaville - the Berkeley location in the best among the rest! Arguably, this is the best place to shop for North Face gear. Go often and you'll find some good items - from coats, footwear, to backpacks & camping gear. This location has never let me down as I have gotten good deals & great discounts, that's usually around 40%-60% off. Another important aspect of this store is their Sample Sale events - scattered throughout the year & once it starts, it continues until everything is gone (expect the sale to last at least 1.5-2 weeks.) You can call the store or check their Facebook page, as to when they will be held. During their so-called Sample Sale, the Berkeley outlet has an entire floor of samples at drastically reduced prices. I've been to a few of their previews/sneak peeks, and all the puffy jackets, rain jackets, fleece jackets, and ski jackets (aka outerwear!) all priced at only $60. That is a fraction of regular retail. Fashion at a fraction, how good can that be?! North Face's signature line of apparel, equipment, and footwear is well designed and high quality. I came here with my friend around 1:15pm on a Saturday. The tiny parking lot was full so I drove a block away and found street parking. This place was divided into two sides: one for men and one for women. There was a kid area as well but not as much selection from what I saw. The selection of jackets were good with prices that were a lot lower than what they originally were. You could tell which jackets were popular because the sizes left on the rack was limited to XXL. I managed to find the jacket that I liked in my size and it was actually in a different part of the store. We confirmed the price with one of the girls who worked here then I lined up to pay. The line was a little long but maybe no longer than a 5 minute wait. I paid almost 50% less than what I would have paid elsewhere so that was awesome! I always drive by the north face outlet put I finally had a chance to check it out. Surprisingly, this place is a lot bigger than what it looks like on the outside. There are a few parking spots in front of the business but you can also do street parking. We got lucky and stumbled across their sample sale. My friend got some boots for $60 and he said he was just looking at the exact same pair for $120 online. It's pretty strict in the sample sale area. If you take something from the sample sale area, you need to go directly to the cash register. Overall, pretty great selection. Sizes are limited, but they also have one size fits most items (hats, gloves, bags, bandanas, etc.). Pros: -good sized outlet -sample sale! -clean and organized -free parking outside Cons: -limited size options read more

Love this brand and this store for the deals especially if you can't afford their regular price. Usually, its not super crowded here except for when I went here on Black Friday 2014. Even then it was only a 35 minute wait to get in; 200 people to start and whenever someone goes out, you get to go in. They had great deals and love the quality of the stuff even if they are discontinued lines of clothing. The staff are always friendly and helpful. They are pretty organized as well. The parking is limited to like 7 spaces and the rest of the parking is on the street. This is definitely one of my favorite store for sports clothing or everyday wear!! I will be back!! This place is a total waste of time. First of all, parking is impossible. There's a tiny lot with 7 spaces that always seems full. Street parking is a nightmare. They only seem to carry S and XXL in men's clothes and the selection is crap....it's all the clothing that was poorly designed, unpopular colors and extremely limited stock. They seriously only stock the designs that don't sell. If you want a decent a NF item, just buy it full price. You won't find it at this location! read more

I came here last Saturday and there was a long line out the door. With COVID, they have a limited number of people allowed in the store. At first I thought there was a special sale, but it was just a regular weekend day ramping up towards the holidays. We waited for about 40 minutes to get inside. The staff there are super nice. Every person working there was so friendly and happy to help. That makes it such a nice shopping experience when the staff are easy to find and nice to customers. The prices are really good for quality gear. They mostly have the standard hoodies, jackets, t-shirts, and backpacks. You can find some good deals here, especially on last season's items. Love this place... It's a dangerous place for someone like me who, since I was in HS, had always wanted a bubble jacket for those colder months in San Francisco. Fast forward a decade & a half... living in Los Angeles really does not call for down jackets more than a handful times a year. But I still have always wanted one... I read about the North Face outlet in Berkeley on Yelp and thought since my friends and I were landing in OAK on a rainy Friday morning, we might as well swing by and see what they have before heading into the city. I'm really glad we did because I scored a black 500 series bubble goose-down jacket that was normally $200+ for $84.99... It's awesome. So warm and comfortable. I actually wore it in the rain that same weekend because I simply did not pack anything to handle the cold rainy nights that were not in the weather forecast. And if that was not enough, my friend spotted a rack of light grey jackets that were minimal bubble goose-down in the torso area but not the arms. It was only $49.99 so I had to do it. I believe it retailed for more than $150. Both jackets did not have any visible blemishes or defects. I'm pretty anal about the stuff I buy so I checked both out thoroughly before heading to pay for it. I was quite happy with my purchases. I've worn both jackets multiple times and am so glad I didnt pass them up. Mostly street parking unless you're lucky enough to snag a spot in their small row of spaces in their parking lot. Not a bad place if you want TNF items on the cheap. However, after owning a few items that I picked up from here over the years, the quality of the clothes (ehem, the zippers in particular) are NOT noteworthy of typical NF items. I've found that waiting for TNF sales through their website or sites such as Dick's Sporting Goods, or even Amazon (where I've gotten some backpacks for really stellar deals) is a better bet to get quality items. read more

Always clean and well-organized. I usually have a pleasant shopping experience here, and staff are helpful if you need assistance. Great prices compared to retail stores. Although the parking lot is quite small, you can usually find street parking within one or two blocks. If you shop during the week days, there is more parking availability. This location has a large women's selection, a good amount of men's selection, and then a smaller section of kids and toddler items. This place is huge. And it's 20x better than the North Face Outlet at Livermore. The selection is incredible and the staff does a great job at keeping the store neat. Parking can be a bit of a pain since their lot of small so you just have to rely on street parking. The first time I came here was several years ago and I bought a few jackets there and since then I've moved around and traveled and bought my things at other NF Outlets. After moving back to the bay, I've only shopped at the Livermore store because I'm normally there buying other things. During my last trip to Livermore, I wanted another puffy down coat I had gotten there last time but was extremely disappointed by the selection and overwhelmed by the incredible amount of people stuffed into a tiny little store. I remembered this store existed and my mom's friend drove us here. I was instantly in heaven when I came in. I also came in during Christmas time so they were running a 60% off sale. (I came back a week and a half later and prices were 40% off... Which is their normal discount) I spent over an hour here and ended up with 2 jackets. A puffy down and also a three-in-one. The normal prices were $200 and 300 respectively. After 60% off I walked out of the store paying $200 for 2 incredibly nice and warm jackets that will last me for years. Definitely suggest coming during any big holidays as that's when they run their 60% off sales. read more

This is one of my favorite places to purchase gifts for friends and loved ones. They sell quality outerwear that is much cheaper than most of the major online retail stores. Most of the time, I save a whole lot of money by getting 30-50% off per item. Whenever they have a major sale, like 50% off most items, I hoard a bunch of stuff and give them out as gifts throughout the year. Note for those worried about theft: 3 of the 24 security cameras are down. Only one at the front of the store and the parking lot are working. None of the cameras inside of the store are operating. My sunglasses were stolen from on top of one of the coat racks during my visit, while I had my back turned for about a minute or two. The manager was unhelpful. He took down my number and said that he would reach out if they were found, but only to appease me -- it was obvious that they weren't interested in trying too hard to look and this kind of sh** happens all the time. In addition, after I asked, "Do you guys have security cameras? Would it be possible to look and confirm that they were stolen," he mentioned that 3 out of 24 security camera in the location are down. Every single employee I approached was incredible unhelpful, which made sense once one of them finally pointed me in the direction of the manager (who was then unhelpful, of course). All around poor customer service. So anyways, if you're hoping not to get anything stolen from you, I would discourage you from going to this store. Again, NO cameras inside of the store are functioning and will likely not be for the next couple months (I wouldn't be surprised if they have been out for years and the store is too cheap to replace them). read more

This outlet was great! The prices were amazing for the selection they had. They had plenty of clothes in black and neutral colors, which I usually don't see at outlets. The deals here are pretty good! I was here last week shopping with my dad because he wanted to check out what the outlet had. We did have to wait about 30 minutes before entering the store. They are currently limiting the number of people entering the store to shop. The store itself is big with a great selection of items. They have several employees around the store in case you need help. What they have out on the floor is typically what they have but you can always ask to double-check if they have more in the back. I did end up asking for help because I could not find the size I was looking for but they ended up having more in the back and brought it out for me. I was so thrilled to see they had my size. I bought a few other items that were 50% off for Christmas gifts. They have a line that moves fairly quickly. Once you're near the check out they have someone removing the hangers and sensor tags so that you can easily check out when you're at the front. Then When you're in the front they'll scan your items, ask for your reward number, and when you're ready to pay tell them your method. Afterward, you grab the receipt from the printer on your side. They do have a small parking lot so the rest would be street parking. I would definitely come back again if ever I needed gear from here. I would have to say the discount and sale at this location is quite on point! With most, if not all items already at a discounted price, you also receive an additional 40% the lowest discount price! There are also clearance rounders throughout the store that offer 60% off the lowest ticketed price, making a lot of the items practically free. The only downfall is that a lot of the common sizes for women (small and medium) are hard to find. Also, because of the big discount on the many items, you don't get the 2 year warranty that regular priced items have. So if a zipper breaks, then you are SOL. Would I recommend this location to friends and family?! Came in today to do a simple exchange, so I thought. Was greeted by David who is a solid dude with great customer service skills. Went ahead and picked out the merchandise I wanted and proceeded to check out. Problem was one of the the jackets didn't have a tag on it so it was all hands on deck, literally everyone was looking for the SKU and Model of this thing (thank God it was a Wednesday and the store was somewhat empty) and they succeeded, it's not so much as people looking for SKU/Model it was more of the willingness to help out. I've experienced similar situations where the employee(s) were just "Sorry we can't sell it to you". If they can take care of their clients with the small things, I'm sure bigger things are just as easy. Fun fact: It began as a San Francisco-based climbing equipment store and expanded in the 80's to include skiwear. To many of you serious adventure seekers, North Face is a reliable brand for its outerwear during the cold, harsh winter months. Why this brand would thrive in California? I still ponder that question from time to time. As with all outlets, popular sizes go quick. For the most part, I mostly find the size I'm looking for at this location. This past weekend, I bought 2 gym pants, a tank with a sports bra and a rain jacket. With due diligence looking through the racks, I was able to find my size. The availability of different sizes may be due in part to the storage space and inventory from other locations. I only know this because I used to work at an outlet store with little space for storage-- this made size availability quite limited. At this location, there is a dedicated space just for North Face, barring the occasional cameo of Lucy gym wear (75% off this past weekend! SCORE!). I digress. This is a great place to look for some good deals when you're running low on activewear in the snow or for the gym. Unless you have the patience, I would stay away from here on major holidays unless you don't mind the mountains of misfolded clothing and seemingly endless long lines at the register. Do bear in mind that these deals come at a price. The warranty no longer applies on the clothing, so I would take a careful look at what you're buying to make sure it's in good shape.
