I really hate to leave bad reviews especially when the service was good. But the bahn mi sandwiches we got were the worst i've ever had. The pork wasn't grilled, it tasted like it was microwaved, there was no flavor at all, the veggies were limp, there was no jalapeño or anything and no Vietnamese mayo, the only good part was the bread. We ordered three sandwiches, one for each of us and one for our son. We just shared the 1, and gave most of that to our dog. We brought the other 2 home. My son took a bite and couldn't eat any more of it. And he eats everything lol I absolutely hate wasting food and money like this. I was really, really looking forward to a bahn mi sandwich. I'm having oral surgery in a week and won't be able to eat them for a very, very long time, maybe never again. We live in Aberdeen and were in town for a doctor's appointment, and our usual spot is closed on Thursdays. So I found this place on yelp. Huge disappointment. And I'm bummed that I have to leave this review because the service was great. The gentleman at the counter, who took our order and cooked our food was super friendly and nice. I got grilled chicken noodles, bbq pork bao, and the vegetarian spring roll. The spring rolls were filled with tofu, which was really well seasonal and tasty. The peanut sauce that accompanied it was very sweet and thin, and both rolls fell apart as soon as I took the plastic wrap off. The pork bao was different than any other Ive had, it reminded me of a jelly donut in both color and tastes. Again, a little sweeter than I'd like but the dough was amazing. Finally, the noodles. They had a large selection of Bahn Mi & the staff was very helpful and there was indoor seating. Sadly we were very disappointed & couldn't eat more than a few bites. The roll was very dry and stale and since that made up the majority of the sandwich that made it a two star. Sorry. We will give it one more try but not for Bahn Mi. read more

So ... the food was great, quite excellent actually. But I want to write about what happened after. I got food around 12 pm. Unbeknowest to me, my wallet fell out of my pocket as I exited the building to go to my car. I didn't notice. Around 6:30 pm, I get a knock on my door. (I hadn't realized the wallet was missing) It is the owner of Nom Nom, standing there, with my wallet. He had seen someone go to grab a wallet that was on the ground, and went out and explained that he thought it was one of his customer's. He saw my address on my drivers license and dropped it off at my house after work. They have my lunch time food vote for the rest of time. We stopped by Nom Nom while we were visiting. The restaurant inside has a funky and fun vibe. Bright colors, laser lights and bumping music. Our group got some spring rolls to start. The rolls were good and fresh. The peanut sauce went great with the spring rolls. We also had a steamed pork roll, BBQ pork sandwich and a chicken sandwich. All the ingredients were fresh, tasty and Incorporated Vietnamese flavors. The service was friendly and quick. Also, the food is very affordable, sandwichs are as low as $3.50 for a good size sandwich. Very good spot for a quick, interesting lunch. read more

I was only interested about it because of the good reviews, but was severely disappointed when I actually had it. I stopped by Nom Nom Deli for a late lunch. When I came in, the restaurant smelled amazing with the owner(I think) was busy mopping with pine-sol or something. The design of the shop looks a little small and outdated, but has a good music selection. It didn't take long to look at the menu. I ordered a fluffy pork banh-mi. The staff were pretty friendly. I waited a few minutes until the order is ready, then left. We got back in our car and immediately started digging in. The look of the sandwich made me frown. The "fluffy" sandwich was not fluffy at all. It was very hard and stale. The veggies were fresh and plenty of it, but the pork looked really weird as if it wasn't pork at all. It looked like there were gobs of hair in the sandwich. It was flavorful, but I felt like I was chewing marinated hair. Luckily it'll be a rare chance that I go to Nom Nom again. Clean and bright, the pictures on the wall had the wife and I excited to order... The food was only so so. We ordered spring rolls, phad see ew and the lemongrass pork sandwich. The spring rolls had shrimp and BBQ pork, but was bland and the peanut sauce was unremarkable. Great Vietnamese sandwiches, the bread is just right - crusty without being too tough. Flavor and fillings are spot on. I recommend the lemongrass pork. We came here for dinner on Friday night and the place was absolutely empty. We ordered a special pork banh mi sandwich, a lemongrass pork banh mi sandwich, a pad see ew you, and a pork bun. The bread on the sandwiches was stale and not fresh. The grilled lemongrass pork felt as it it were steamed, not grilled, and a day old. The pork bun was microwaved in Saran Wrap, and not worth $4 (esp when you can get a sandwich for $4.50). The pad see ew was SUPER oily. Not a great spot for Vietnamese good in my opinion. I've been regularing this Banh Mi shop for a while now, and there's definitely reasons why. They offer 3 different vegan banh mi options, and the owners are super kind and friendly. I think it's really cute how they have a little disco ball in the restaurant, it's cute and quirky! I wouldn't necessarily eat there though, a lot of their fresh food (seafood and such) comes with an odor. I always just order it to go, and WOW they are so inexpensive! My sandwich cost me less than 5 dollars, and it was a big sandwich. I got the lemongrass tofu sandwich, which was a recommendation from the owner. My sis ordered the pork floss sandwich and I the Spring rolls. We waited for at least 40 minutes watching at least 3 people behind us get their orders. The banh mi is better at Nom Nom Deli than it was at the previous incarnation, Nammy's. Nom Nom Deli made my banh mi with more meat, so I was happy about that, but the coconut chicken itself was really dry. I went back a few days later and ordered the Thai Fried Rice, which I really wanted to like, but the portion was really small, compared to the Pad See Ew that my friend ordered. The Pad See Ew didn't have any broccoli (does it even count as pad see ew at that point?), and was made with the skinnier rice noodles (like the ones used for Pad Thai), so I'm not sure what was going on in the kitchen on Friday. Our food took 30 min to make, so we had to inhale our food in order to make it back to the office. The owner did apologize and say that he was down by 1 person, but I'm still not sure what happened with the pad see ew's missing broccoli and wrong noodles. I would suggest that people call their orders in ahead of time to avoid the 30 min waiting time for food other than banh mi. The ambience is nicer than it was before, and the space is inviting and cheerful. Street parking is okay, as long as you are willing to pay the meter. If you work nearby, you can take the Dash shuttle or walk. read more

This was the second time I've been here. The first was when it was operated as Nammy's and under different ownership. To cut to the chase- Cheap and good. Bread was perfect. BUT and it's a big but... The meat and fillers were extremely sparse. What would've made it 100 times better was more daikon and carrot and a tad bit more pate. Could hardly see the layer of pate in my sandwiches, and that's my favorite part of the sandwich. The steamed pork buns were good also. This is something that is hard to come by around here and this is possibly the only place that I've seen that serves it, so thumbs up for them. I would come to Olympia more often and refrain myself from taking the dreadful, trafficky drive into Seattle to get sandwiches from Saigon Deli if they made the food more like Saigon Deli. All in all, it's good for the area, but could be a lot better. read more
