After hearing rave reviews from friends, I decided to bring her to Stoney River. Due to a packed Saturday schedule on September 19th, I wasn't able to make a reservation in advance. When we arrived, I explained to the host that we didn't have a reservation but were hoping to get a table to celebrate a milestone birthday. The host looked at the system, seemed unsure of what to do, and called another team member over. After some whispering, he informed us there was a one-hour wait for a table, but we could choose to sit at the bar immediately. Sitting at the bar wasn't our ideal vision for a special birthday dinner- my friend doesn't drink, and I don't drink and drive. However, after fighting heavy traffic to get there and being very hungry, we decided to take seats at the bar to try and salvage the night. What was really disturbing was during our two-plus hours at the restaurant, we watched two tables remain empty the entire time. It was deeply frustrating to sit at the bar and wonder why guests were being given a long wait time when open seating was available in plain sight. However, Tracey and Austin completely turned our night around! Despite the rocky start, our experience at the bar was fantastic thanks to these two great bartenders. Tracey went above and beyond by crafting delicious, custom mocktails so we could properly toast to the occasion. Both Tracey and Austin gave us spot-on appetizer and entree recommendations, and their service was flawless. Even with a busy bar with only three bartenders working, they never missed a beat--no one was left waiting, and no one had to flag anyone down. Thanks to Tracey and Austin, our initial frustration melted away. We were able to relax, enjoy the great ambiance, and give my friend the wonderful 60th birthday celebration she deserved. To make matters worse, the air conditioning wasn't working, and while I understand equipment can fail, the dining room was quite warm despite several fans running. Our server was kind and did his best, but overall the experience didn't match what I would expect from a high-end restaurant. Spending nearly $200 on a birthday dinner that ended up feeling average at best was disappointing. I hope the restaurant can address the menu availability, food quality, and facility issues because I really wanted this to be a memorable celebration for my son for all the right reasons.
