I cannot hype the MV Skansonia enough!!! This is truly one of the most magical, affordable, and perfect venues in Seattle. They made our day PERFECT. Highlights: - View is UNREAL. It was important to us to have a classic Seattle, show-stopping view for our out of town guests. This one is hard to beat. - The classic Seattle ferry boat is so unique. Chances are your guests haven't been to a wedding like that before and I wanted to be unique. The inside is recently remodeled, spacious, charming, and has great string lights/portholes. - The venue is mostly all inclusive. I didn't have to find my own florist, caterer, furniture rentals, etc. And everyone they partner with is incredible. We did have to bring our own DJ, officiant, and any extras (such as a photo booth). - We found this venue to be more cost effective than going a la carte at other city venues. We could have gone cheaper outside the city limits but it was very key for us to be in actual Seattle. - Finni, the planner/coordinator, is the best of the BEST. She is included with the venue and is incredible. She had so much advice, answered a million questions, and took care of so much of the work!!!! Love you, Finni. This venue is a must see. If you are looking for classic Seattle but still right in the city and you want to do minimal planning by yourself, THIS IS IT!

Beautiful venue!!!! My friend just hosted the most beautiful birthday bash in this venue last week. Black tie, glitzy, bling, amazing views, open bar! And dance floor with lake union views all around!! The best!! Love having friends that go all out for birthday!! As we all should. There were close to 200 of us and most of us did take uber. The place is hidden from the street but it's behind the boats. It is a boat!! It doesn't leave! It's massive, expansive views! Oh so pretty inside!! We had a huge bar, dance floor, casino, buffet area, eating area. It was a pretty big spot! Love it! And I can see my house from here! Bonus! The food kept on coming! Kitchen crew my girlfriend got was fantastic. Evan the bar staff! Can't think of a better venue for private event! Gorgeous! Fun! An evening to remember for sure! And those views!!!

Skansonia--highly recommend! We were looking for a Seattle venue for our wedding that had a scenic view, offered tasty food, and was affordable. Location/View The Skansonia is on Lake Union and provides a great view of the lake and downtown. Indoor/outdoor One of the best features of the Skansonia is that the venue is versatile. We knew if the weather was sunny, we could enjoy cocktails with our guests and hold the wedding service outside, on the bow of the Skansonia, surrounded by views of Lake Union and the Seattle skyline. But if it rained, the interior of the Skansonia would be an excellent indoor alternative with its wood work and natural light. Food & Beverages The food was amazing! All of our guests were raving about the food served at our wedding. Attending a tasting (before the wedding) was helpful in planning our menu. That being said--everything they offered was tasty. Bar service was great and well staffed. While planning our special day, Skansonia staff suggested having a signature cocktail. We loved the idea; it was well implemented and the guests were all impressed. Service The team at Skansonia was super helpful with planning and implementing our wedding plans. We appreciated their helpful attitude, prompt communication, and thoughtful ideas. Flowers and the cake It was great knowing the team at Skansonia would be able to take care of the flowers and the cake. No worries about working with additional vendors and day-of delivery. We worked with the Skansonia florist and were wowed by the seasonal flowers she selected. The cake was tasty and enjoyed by all guests. I can definitely say that Skansonia played a big part in making our wedding day memorable and fun--to the wedding couple and guests alike. Thank you, Skansonia! Mike and Jef

What an awesome place to have our wedding! The day was perfect and we couldn't have felt more supported than we were with Finni and her team. She did a wonderful job, always willing to help and so patient throughout the whole process. She was extremely accommodating and so helpful throughout the whole day. The venue was gorgeous and the food and dessert were excellent. We lucked out with beautiful weather and our guests, who were mostly from out of Seattle, couldn't stop talking about the venue. I highly recommend this venue, and this staff, if you're looking to get married. Finni and team - thanks so much for helping make our special day perfect!

View of Lake Union? Check Breathtaking sunset on the water? Check A historic venue that makes you feel like you're attending a Disney princess's wedding? Double Check How can such a wonderfully romantic wedding venue be tucked away next to Ivar's Salmon House and a bunch of random little boats? I attended a friend's wedding here yesterday evening and although it was October, the weather was perfection and the MV Skansonia has an indoor/outdoor portion ready for just about anything (except maybe typhoons). The ceremony portion was held at the bow of the boat and the seating room is rather limited but perfect for more intimate weddings. There's a dining area as well as a dance floor to boogie down to Spice Girls and Backstreet Boys (okay, that was closer to the end of the evening). The staff was courteous, the wine glasses were never empty, the buffet was fresh and in the end, it all came down to ambiance. The only hiccup was when I almost fell off my chair because the vessel was slightly slanted - how embarrassing would that have been? But all you future brides, definitely consider this location if you plan to have a wedding with just a few dozen of your nearest and dearest. You'll get the most gorgeous views of the Seattle skyline, a chance to celebrate your special day on a vessel boasting with local history ... and HELLO, you're getting married on a boat! Cheers!

They say that your wedding day is meant to be one of the best days of your life.. Thanks so much to Vicki, event specialist at MV Skansonia, for helping to make our wedding day the greatest day of our lives. First, you are delightful to be around and having you there on the wedding day coordinating everything was amazing! I loved my flowers from Lake Union Custom floral (their vendor) so much, they were so beautiful and exactly what we discussed and what I envisioned. All of the small details, you made them happen. I literally had the best time of my life, I wish I could press the rewind button!! Our wedding cake from Lake Union Custom Bakery, again, my description communicated by email come to life and more beautiful than I expected. My expectations were EXCEEDED. What a perfect perfect day. Thank you so much!! Margarita and Lorenzo p.s to all brides out there, I had such a wonderful experience with Skansonia (Vicki, Victoria and Mikaela... Lake Union Custom Bakery, Lake Union Cafe). I'm stilllllll in awe of the day.

I attended a wedding here yesterday night. I had driven along North Lake many many times, and had never seen this place until Saturday when my brother (the groom) needed help unloading some stuff onto the boat. Probably the best thing about this place is the view. Since it's at the north end of Lake Union, you get a gorgeous view of downtown and a nice view looking down the cut. I took probably too many photos of it (soon to be posted to my flickr account, FYI), but I can't help mahself! The ceremony is at the front of the boat, outdoors, and very limited seating. Many guests stood for the ceremony which in this case was not too bad, as the weather kind of sucked so the officiant cut out a lot to get people back inside. The people who worked here also made it seamless. I hardly noticed them at all, which for a wedding, that's the way it should be! I enjoyed my time there, a little cold, but happy.

09.08.2007 - Sunset ceremony panaroma from upper deck of the Skansonia

A week ago I was the Maid of Honor/ObligatoryWedding Planner at my sister's wedding on the Skansonia. The wedding was absolutely perfect, sunset ceremony (see pictures) at 7:30 PM followed by a buffet dinner and reception on the boat. The staff at the Skansonia are lifesavers! We met with them several times before the wedding and felt very welcomed and taken care of. Like the wedding experts that they are, they take care of all the details that first-time wedding planners like us forget, recommendations, when to cut the cake, when to do the first dance, etc. Ceremony was on the deck, we lucked out on the weather but if not there's enough space inside as a back-up. About 40 guests were seated and the rest stood in back or on the upper deck looking down which worked out fine. We had a harpist play the wedding music and it was lovely! We opted for the buffet dinner, the salmon is DELICIOUS (I recommend going to one of the few tasting days during the year... ) and my mom brought a signature dish, summer noodles. One of the pro's for the Skansonia is that they allow you to bring your own beer and wine - a huge cash saver, other venues charge you an arm and leg for their house wine. The Skansonia staff recommended only one keg - we thought our friends and families were bigger drinkers and bought 3 kegs... we didn't even finish 2. Highlight of the night: Not sure if this is a Skansonia first but it's a story worth sharing! Despite finishing all the alcohol we had one friend make the groom's night by jumping overboard from the top deck! Wouldn't recommend it (who knows what's in the murky Lake Union waters??) but definitely a story to remember.

Gorgeous new place on the block!!…read more Stunning new event space right in south lake union/ downtown with sweeping lake union views. Views alone were worth a trip or 4!! Came for the opening of this shiny new spot yesterday. A gorgeous 3,000 square foot event space that was completely remodeled: with in house catering, vendors, event planners, photo booths, musician! And the food. It was like going to a super fun wedding minus the formality of it. The owner was there as well: super passionate and shared the story of how she bought this space sight unseen: took a long process in turning this into a gorgeous space that it is now. It was super cool! And the food!! They allow outside catering too but the in-house catering: Kaspar catering : baos topped with micro greens and mint. Steamed to serve! Poke rolls :delicious! Panna cotta : in a cup! Lisa Dupar catering: this one was fantastic as I've had a chance to taste their food in the past at a wedding. The gorgeous cupcakes, macarons, molasses cookies and stunning cake. All were so pretty! Mark ryan wine! I mean, what's not to love as it's one of the wineries I frequent in Woodinville wine country. My pup baci's favorite too. Luxe Photo Booth: this one was so fun! The 360 Photo Booth!! I've seen them in Time Squares recently as well as at a valentines event. But this one was so much more fun as I didn't have to wait in line or fight the crowd for it. The person that was running it was super friendly and helpful too. The jazz musician was pretty rad too. And they had valet!! Butler Valet: All the friendly guys in uniform waiting for you as you arrived during rush hour in downtown: pretty darn cool. All events should be this cool. I'm only going to events with valet from now on! Ok thanks. Overall, this was such a fun place.I came to check out the space: left with all the food and fun.The space, the team, the design, the music!! And that Photo Booth: all are essential part of throwing an epic event. All events should be this fun!! I guess they will be if you throw them here: weddings, birthdays, corporate events, sweet 16th. I wouldn't mind coming here for a photoshoot: hello contents!!Or just a fun anything event.Did I mention the views?? Ahh the possibilities!!!

A family member was married here. $2500 gets you a beautiful space overlooking the water. We had use of the venue from 10am - 12 midnight. There was a bar area that had various sized glasses for 150 people. We brought our own beverages. We had use of the kitchen and did all the food ourselves. The bridesmaids decorated the chairs and gazebo that was made for the wedding. Two employees helped facilitate setting up plates and bussing tables. There is a dressing room for the bride (and wedding party) that has comfy couches, a dorm sized fridge and a counter space for hair & makeup people (if you bring them). There is a places to hang clothes. I saw hangers by the coat rack but I would bring hangers for gowns and dresses. The door by the kitchen can be locked. If you want privacy for this room, it is s good idea to have someone posted by the door. The facility has members that aren't restricted during your event. We saw a few people making their way to the dock that were not on our guest list. It would have been nice if they could have discreetly entered and avoided our dining area. We had 150 guests and a bridal party of twelve. There were only two stalls in each bathroom. If you want photo opps by the water, the bride and groom can take pictures on the dock. There is also a lovely place by the water that is a short walk from the building. The venue has various vases and containers that you can borrow to put on tables. The sound system is simple. There was a microphone. We brought our own music. There is a baby grand piano inside. Bonus points for the pretty views at sunset.

I was scheduled to have my wedding here on August 3rd. After booking in December and being told that construction would be completed in March my family and I checked in often to make sure everything was on track. The venue was not completed in March and we were given excuses every week since then about why things were not happening. My fiancé ended up going to see the construction progress on a date not scheduled with Peter and Crystal which is when he found the stop work order posted on their front door. Every time we had visited they covered this with a poster advertising the venue. We confronted them about this at our next meeting where they denied any problems and assured us that the venue would be completed. After looking into it more ourselves we found out that they do not have permits for the construction and have multiple people trying to get money back from them. At our next meeting we confronted Peter with this information where he finally said that our event would not be able to happen. The stop work order had been in affect since January. He chose not to inform anyone of this and keep taking people's money. We asked for our money back and he said if he wrote us a check it would bounce. They do not have any money and are scamming people. He promised to pay my dad back on Monday and it has not happened. He has stopped responding to us. Do not use this venue or their other venue called The Landing at Tyee. The construction has been done with out permits and the owners are lying to couples about what is going on with construction. I have attached a picture of the stop work order.

The staff here are unbelievably kind and understanding, especially given everything that we were all going through; including their accommodation for the changing dates of our stays. At one point the staff even went so far as to give us a tour of their ADA accessible rooms and had the pull-out sofa made up into a bed for us. The hotel itself is walking-distance convenient to nearly everything in the U District, from restaurants, shopping, grocery stores, the university and its medical facilities, including an Emergency Room. Of course, this is an urban area, so you should be prepared to encounter some colorful characters when walking around. On that note, the hotel itself does have at least one security guard, and the doors, underground garage, and elevators are secured by keycard. Like other Residence Inn properties, the rooms all feature fully-equipped kitchenettes, with full-sized refrigerator/freezers, dishwashers, a stovetop, full-sized microwave, and all the cookware, dishware and glassware you could need. The rooms are all very clean, and any problems are fixed promptly (we had a thermostat randomly go out in one of our rooms; it was replaced in under an hour). The rooms are remarkably quiet. Each day a delicious full buffet breakfast is available, with some rotating items for weekdays and the weekend. They do not have a make-your-own waffle station, but they provide pre-cooked waffles on weekends and a breakfast sandwich on weekdays. They also have sausage, cereal, muffins, bagels, fruit, vegan sausage...a very wide variety, such that even the pickiest eaters will be satisfied. The on-site gym is well-equipped with dumbbells, two adjustable benches, a weight stack cable machine, several treadmills, ellipticals, and stationary bikes, along with medicine balls, exercise balls, and a foam roll. There is no pool, hot tub, or sauna. Each floor features two washers and dryers that use an app to pay for each load and cycle. Detergent is available at the sundry market in the lobby. The hotel's underground parking garage features EV charges, but has a 6'8" height restriction. The hotel does have several spaces for overheight vehicle parking, but it is not in a secure garage, the spaces are in a surface lot directly behind the hotel. These spaces are not necessarily for oversized vehicles; we had multiple instances when other vehicles had parked on the lines or across spaces, making it impossible to use the adjacent spaces. The front desk staff are incredibly understanding about this, and happy to help find and cover the costs for alternate spaces. Bottom line: if you need to stay in this part of town, and especially if you will have an extended stay, this is the place to be.

Apparently I was asking too much, because every other typical wedding site was $3000+ to rent, required you to use their vendors (boooo), had hideous carpet or tapestries, or their coordinators liked to ignore me. Then, in a final search of desperation, I found a link to Great Hall at Green Lake. It was meant to be. Nelda was super prompt in responding to me (major cookies and points here), friendly, and didn't just want to throw numbers at me. My fiance and I scheduled a tour of the place and Nelda showed us every nook and cranny, and was more than happy to answer all of our questions. I also really liked that it got a lot of natural lighting in the building. We initially wanted an outdoor wedding but being in Seattle, that was too much of a risk to take even in the month of August. We were initially concerned that it would be too hot and that we would need to rent air conditioners but it was pretty cool outside that day so we did not need to. They also had some large portable fans on the stage if needed but we did not need them on our wedding day. The staff was very hands-off. We scheduled a tour twice and sometimes it seemed like they were not expecting us. I think it was because someone was on their way out of the job and some things needed to be communicated. They were very flexible about letting us come in to look at the place for a second time with our wedding coordinator and set out chairs and tables to see what it would be like, they basically left us alone and said we could leave whenever we were finished. They have one larger room upstairs to be used as a bridal suite, and then one smaller room downstairs that seemed too small to be a second bridal suite. I ended up letting the groom/groomsmen get ready in the main, larger bridal suite, then us ladies got ready at my friend's house, and then we told the guys to leave when we were on our way and that worked out pretty well. I had about 120ish people at my wedding and it was pretty tight when the tables were out, like my husband and I could barely walk across to get to our table and people had to stand and scoot in. During there ceremony, it was perfectly fine. The main thing that was an issue for me is that they do not have a dumpster that we could use and expected us to haul our own trash out after the wedding reception. They charged quite a lot of money if we were to leave trash for them to dispose of. I think that was the most stressful part, and they also said that we can't dump garbage in the neighboring dumpsters. This was the only reason for me taking off one star. Otherwise, I loved this venue for my wedding!

(if you're attending a summer event and can be outside, or it's before sunset.) The bar seems to have lots of options, but no prices listed. So, it's a roll of the dice. "Market price" for a wine pour, I guess. Plus, they add an automatic gratuity. (Be sure to read the fine print) THEN, the card swipe machine asks you for an additional tip! This place hasn't been remodeled or updated in what seems like 50+ years. I hope to never return.

I was initially attracted to the idea of the social club. The lounge, which has a traditional college pub feel, includes a pool table, shuffleboard, a large flat screen, and lots of seating - a great space for hanging out. The venue which consists on two floating vessels has a large dock off the back. We were blown away by how much fun the dock has been. On nice summer days, we would come down for a couple of hours and lounge/lay out on the dock or hop in the water and swim for a bit. There are number of singles, couples, and families so it brings a nice balance of people. (We don't have kids but I've always thought this is the perfect club for those who do - without being too annoying for those of us who don't.) Also throughout the summer, they do Wednesday happy hours and a fun outdoor Thursday night concert series on the dock. I've talked to a number of serious rowers who enjoy the club for the boat access. My husband and I aren't rowers but to our surprise, we've had a lot of fun taking out kayaks (and paddle boards) - both with free access as a part of the membership. The gym isn't fancy but it's clean and has some good equipment (stationary bikes, rowing machines, weights). There are never more than a few people in the gym at once. I've liked it so much that I canceled another gym membership and only come here now. I wasn't sure if this would be a better "summertime" club but we've enjoyed into the colder months. In addition to my ongoing use of the gym, they offer fun social events like college football viewing parties and wine tasting events. Lastly, I have nothing but great things to say about the staff. They genuinely care about their members and have helped create a warm and welcoming environment. They really help set the tone for the overall feel of the club, especially for the social events. I'm glad we made the choice to join. It's been a great addition for us.
